The Sanjay Gupta - Kartik Krishnan Duel

Kartik, Me, Chitanya and Smriti were seated. I guess Manjeet was with Shivam Nair. Kartik tells me he wants to hide as he came to know that Sanjay Gupta was somewhere in the venue. There was an inexplicable surge in anticipation of the clash of the titans. Man what a moment it could be. Appna Kartik Ba kuch kam hai kya?? Even at that moment it just felt like something which we could just dream off. We laughed it off and went back to the drinks and it had still not sunk in …I was with the entire team of Black Friday in their moment of joy. The actors Kay Kay, Gajraj Rao, Pawan Malhotra, Vijay Maurya, Piyush Mishra, Raja Choudhry, Imtiyaz Ali, Wasiq Bhai the art director and last but not the least the man who kept us in splits and the man who is called Mr. Hot Ass…….Nutty….a.k.a Natarajan Subramanian…..”taalaivaa”

We all had come here in anticipation of sitting in a corner looking at the proceedings and go back. No way in the wildest dreams had we anticipated this? You people will see Manjeet stuck in between Gajraj Rao and Anurag…..watch the TV stations. And yes there was a special announcement made. A new Punjabi film with Manjeet in the lead….and Manjeet plays “Chole”…Chunky Film ka naam kyat ha? The shutter bugs were going crazy as Anurag entered. He requested them to give him a breather for a few minutes he had just come back from the Nishabd music release. Gave out a few RGV…AB moments and yes also that RGV was shocked to know his Nishabd is being Blogged on PFC….aaiii??!!! He had no clue till last night.

Oops!!! Main story. To go back in history. Kartik had written a screenplay of a feature. He was at White feather Films trying to push it……”KLPD”….to know the rest of the story go to www.desitrain.com and search for “Sanjay Gupta”. Here we were laughing at the possibilities of these 2 coming face to face. Anurag walked past the table as I told him that Mr. Gupta was in and around the venue. Anurag left immediately. Chunky was stunned. What!!!!!is he going to get Sanjay Gupta. I sure wanted that but I had a feeling it was not that. Kartik was not sure too but I am sure those bugs rioting in his churning stomach have another story to tell. In minutes we saw Anurag come back…and who the hell is that behind him………………Anurag and Sanjay Gupta walk towards us….Kartik is looking at him….sex on the beach…will that just remain a dream….is this for real….Sanjay and Anurag murmur and before we could stabilize our senses Sanjay Gupta picks a bottle and walks towards out table “Bhen^**%%…kaun hai..who is that…..”. Kartik and Sanjay Gupta come face to face. Wish I had 36 cameras placed all around to capture that moment in a 360 degree freeze frame. Within a second the shutter bugs attacked with their flashes. Sanjay Gupta put the bottle down. Kartik surprisingly no reaction on his face. He was just looking at Sanjay Gupta. We just moved our heads from one face to another.

SG: the media saved you…..you know….we will meet….have a chat….we will connect….

We knew it was all in good jest but what a moment man. The aftermath has been recorded on Smriti’s camera. Kartik recording a will incase…just in case….Maut Sharminda ….Jismo Jaan….sab Zinda hai……Zinda Hu mai……..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sitting with all these people at arms length was more humbling than exciting…more introspective than awestruck moments. Making us, sorry me feel so inadequate. There is so much to be done. There is so much even to be “ATTEMPED” leave alone achieve. Some very good advice from Rajkumar and Gautham I got. Thanks people for sharing your thoughts and encouragement.

The party got over t around 1:30…1:45. Chunky, Kartik and me sat near Veera Desai road…actually on the footpath and chatted till 4:30 am over cups of Bournvita and Gold Flake and cinema……cinema and more cinema…..heated arguments….. The trains had resumed service by then. Chunky and me had to go to the Short film fest the next day….seeya

= “Kartik surprisingly no reaction on his face. He was just looking at Sanjay Gupta.”

Perhaps he was “frozen” with fear and hence the “no reaction”… I heard his pants were wet after Sanjay Gupta left. :)

When did Sanjay Gupta declare war on Kartik Krishnan?

Answer : When Kartik published the following article and Sanjay found it a year later and commented on it…

what’s wrong with that story of “sex on the beach”. Its very surreal. David Lynch would have been to proud to adapt it. Time to shed your prejudices.

  13. rising on February 19th, 2007 2:19 am

“sex on the beach” does not sound good just reading it, there’s no matter
but who know how it looks visually.

In “darna zaroori hai”, the story which had amitab and ritesh
was visually better that what we could think if we read it.
