‘Lahore’ wins jury award at Houston WorldFest

Lahore, debutant director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s story of two sportsmen brothers in the backdrop of India-Pakistan tensions has won the Jury Award for the Best Feature Film at the recent 42nd WorldFest International Film Festival at Houston in the United States.

The film had its world premiere at the festival which was attended by Sanjeev Arora, Consul General of India, and Mohammed Aquil Nadeem, Consul General of Pakistan.

The WorldFest is known as the festival that projected the initial works of exalted directors like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ang Lee, Ridley Scots, Robert Rodriguez, Robert Townsend, Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and David Lynch.

The film revolves around two brothers from Rajastan, one a
national kickboxing champion and the other a star cricketer.

According to a note from its makers, the movie traces an emotional path as it deals with interactions between citizens of the two nations that have fought three wars.

Starring veterans Nafisa Ali, Farouque Shaikh, Ashish Vidyarthi, Nirmal Pandey, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Sourav Shukla, Sushant Singh, Kelly Dorji as also newcomer Aanaahad, the film has music by M M Kreem, background score by Wayne Sharpe, action by Tony Leung Siu Hung and Robert Miller, sound by Peter Levin, production design by Keshto Mondal and cinematography by Neelabh Kaul.
