Frieda Pinto is indeed going places. Taken superb adv of SDM’s success….
I would not get too excited about Freida going places. Man I can give you a list of actresses that were deemed the next best thing after a successful movie (especially the Oscars which seems to be the kiss of death to a career) who have not done much initially – Mira Sorvino, Scarlett Johansen, Keira Knightly, Marisa Tomei, etc and are now on the come back route.
Unless she is willing to focus on Indie movies and take some risks (nudity, profanity, etc.) or go the commercial route, I don’t foresee a big career for her. I could be wrong but let’s wait and see.
Of course its extrememly premature to discuss her success, even her acting capabilities, but her first steps dont seem very small ones. Not all get onto that route…hence so…
@Lee
How can you keep Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightly in this list?…they are still pretty young and have had decent releases over the years…
As far as Ms Pinto is concerned, she din’t do anything special in the film and reaping benefits of the film’s unexpected success…
But the good thing is she has got good projects like woody allen’s & schnaubel’s…these films might again take her to the oscar stage & keep her in the limelight even if she doesn’t win herself…
Anyway this is much better as opposed to most of the Indian actors who get to do guest appearances in B grade hollywood flicks (& some “crossover films” by NRIs)…& claim to have broken the “barrier”…
Does she really have to be referred to as:
“Slumdog Latika”
I think most people know her name by now…
