Have read 10 pages of the book. Tried to go beyond quite a few times. Never could.. Very boring. I guess the subject matter gave enough fodder for the mind and what kind of film it would turn out to be. Havent seen the film tho but it didnt do very well at the BO and also with the critics if not wrong….
@Arthi V: The novel is definitely not a racy read, but I was enchanted by the way Nabakov wrote it, the subject is bold and unconventional enough, but Nabakov’s presentation is awesome. coming to the film, there is a huge difference between the book and the film, Nabakov first wrote a screenplay which was 400 pages wrong, consequently only 20% of what he wrote appeared on screen. And, the Lolita of the book is so different than what was shown in the movie(heck she was not even described pretty in the book), also the censorship demanded some of the vital points of the plot just to be implied and not stated, which screwed the movie completly. However, Kubrick’s deft touches here and there still makes it pretty ok. But, the experience is zilch as compared to the book.
