    Even though I really like Gus Van Sant’s earlier films (specially My Own Private Idaho), I found Milk disappointing – felt he was trying for too much historical accuracy (docu-style) and giving up depth and drama. Much more politically-correct in its story telling, what it chooses to highlight and skip, than I would have expected. One of those rare times when I preferred the documentary ‘The Life and Times of Harvey Milk’ to the feature, Milk.

    Milk is def one of his most commerical films in recent times but it’s come at a very apt time and has become a huge rallyi
