Movies you have watched more than 10 times!
A few days back some of the PFC authors were having a discussion on the movies they have watched more than 5 times, and the list became too exhaustive, what with the love, passion etc for movies. So, we thought how about a list of films you have watched more than 10 times. I am sure many here would come up with a looong list. So, dear reader, go ahead and let us know which all movies you have seen more than 10 times.

In theatre, i saw only very few movies two times. (and some were becoz of some reasons, with different friends, or not a good choice available)
(or, in different city etc.)
On DVD, i saw some movies three-four times, but didnt watch fully every time.
on TV, i have seen many movies, many times. bcoz there is nothing good, or i just wanted to enjoy it again becoz it is coming. but then i leave in between, or start from anywhere.
Lately, what i do, is, with the help of dvd-chopper, i chop my favourite parts, and burn on another dvd. and i watch those frequently.
mostly comedy parts,songs, or some other scenes of dialogue-bazi.
well… other than hrishikesh mukherjee’s and gulzaar saab’s movies i have seen black friday and khosla ka ghosla more than 10 times and can keep watching them all my life.
i think these movies are flawless.

Agneepath – Myself, My Younger Bro, and Two of my First Cousin’s were so fond of the movie in early 90s that whenever two or three or all four of us used to meet together, we used to play atleast once and all of the times we ended playing it for full length.. If I count there would be more than 125 instances when I have watched it in completeness
Then
Anand – Have seen it more than 50 times, heard the film almost 1000 times (cassette).. most inherited film..
-Sholay…
-Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro

Dude, enlighten me on Pulp Fiction, I watched it and didn’t like it and since then I’ve been suffering from inferiority complex. I am serious.
.
.
I wonder how come people watch any movie thousand times let alone few hundred times.
@Jahanpanah, perhaps you should try reading the script. Seriously. Pulp Fiction is as much brilliant literature as it is cinema
http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Pulp-Fiction.html
Or just check out one scene, say the foot massage dialogue
http://theevilp.blogspot.com/2007/05/foot-massage-pulp-fiction.html

@ Prakriti
Thanks, I hope something is there for me in the script and the movie. Couldn’t take the pain of reading the script so I read only your foot massage thing and in the end again I couldn’t understand what is so great about it? Is it the thing that the 2 gangsters are talking cool and the moments are light and in the next moment there is a tension build up in the whole scene? So this makes it a great scene?
I’ve always been consoling myself thinking that perhaps the movie is too American which isn’t suited to my Indian sensibilities and that’s why I didn’t like it.
Raiders of The Lost Ark( Never really liked the others in the Indy Jones series).

@ Jahanpanah,
I would refrain from making judgement calls and instead just point to what you wrote in your earlier comment
“I wonder how come people watch any movie thousand times let alone few hundred times.”
You wouldn’t get it. It’s okay. Not everyone loves cinema for the little details. Lots of people watch it just for that time pass entertainment. Which is great as well. (Though well, I watch Pulp Fiction again and again for time pass entertainment as well, so well..)
Or perhaps you feel like James Wood –
from the wiki page of Pulp Fiction
In Britain, James Wood, writing in The Guardian, set the tone for much subsequent criticism: “Tarantino represents the final triumph of postmodernism, which is to empty the artwork of all content, thus avoiding its capacity to do anything except helplessly represent our agonies…. Only in this age could a writer as talented as Tarantino produce artworks so vacuous, so entirely stripped of any politics, metaphysics, or moral interest.”
Even by James Wood’s view though, it is nevertheless an artwork.
So I am sorry to say you shall have to adjust to the fact that you are a minority.

I can understand buddy. I do not doubt Tarantino’s talent but what else I can do if don’t like his movies (I liked Kill Bill I/II, True Romance, Reservoir Dogs, BTW and hated Jaikee Brown, Grindhouse, From Dusk Till Dawn and of course Pulp Fiction). I don’t think I’m one of those who only watches a film for entertainment only. I was recently watching Synecdoche, New York and loved it. It was a different experience altogether. So certainly I think somewhere that I should appreciate Pulp Fiction also but couldn’t help myself. Sadly you also couldn’t help me.
@Jahanpanah
you are definitely right in saying that the scene you mention about is fun because two gangsters are talking cool one moment and the next moment you see tension building up.
what makes the movie really special is the lines mouthed by almost all the characters and the situations. for me Pulp Fiction is not as much a gangster movie as it is a comedy.
the lines are so generic that i have been using them for years with fellow Pulp Fiction lovers as part of daily conversation.
Randomly, from time to time a line from the movie springs up in the head and i laugh out loud imagining the situation in which the line is said.
i have managed to find even a harmless line like ‘everybody be cool, this is a roberry’ to make me laugh heartily for a few days from time to time.
outside of it, there are so many easter eggs in the movie that one can keep discovering in a serendipitous way on multiple viewings.
i urge you to give the movie another chance. as a shameless plug, since you are asking, i am advancing the whole section dedicated to Pulp Fiction on my website.
I also think that may be I need to watch all those French New wave crime caper movies and post apocalyptic film-noirs of 50s and 60s era and then watch PF, may be then I can appreciate it.
The Matrix
@Arvind Swarup Pathiki

Jahanpanah: right on, and this is true for any film or any work of art. There’s absolutely no need to feel apologetic or awkward because you don’t like something that most other people seem to love.
Prakriti, dude, quit bullying Jahanpanah!
What’s with the “sorry to say you shall have to adjust to the fact that you are a minority”? What’s wrong with being in a minority? After all, “Intelligent humans” is one of the tiniest minorities going!

someone said SIROCCO!!!
Yep magik. Yours truly. When in college one, of the two halls which screened non-regional films in my town specialised in this category of movies. And sirocco is apparently considered a landmark in these circles in india. I remember having read that it was the most successful overseas movie released in india through the 80s decade
ditto in my town! am from indore… where r u from buddy?
@Jabberwock,
:D Ok!
But just to clear the point, if Set A={Intelligent Humans”, and Set B={People who did not like Pulp Fiction} and we know that Set A is a minority, Set B is not equal to Set B. In other words, “Just because you are a character doesn’t mean you have character.”
(Sorry, couldn’t resist that :D. From Pulp Fiction again)
@Vishal, Magik
Sirocco! Was a grand slam big hit in Patna when I was in school! The theatres would get it back every year or so.
There is a scene in the film in which the guy grabs the woman’s hands and washes them in a washbasin, with soap. Brrrr! Anyone remember that?
yo man…me too remember Sirocco
It ran for a couple of weeks even at my place, which is a small town.
BTW, is it just me who thinks this list business pops up a bit too regularly on PFC? Wonder if anyone even checks the other lists……:)
Sholay.

@Vishal, Magic, Avn,
Spelling of the title Sirocco should be different Because Sirocco is Humphrey Bogart film.
Other can be Siracco or Sirako. No?
Have not seen the film but this name was quite popular during hostel days and almost all the people knew about the film. Often people were found saying just at the dinner tables, bore ho rahe hain, chalo Sirako lagee hai, jalde khana kha ke niklo.
Two cinema halls were quite near (less than 1 Km) to our hostel and they both shared a common wall as they both belonged to same owner. Big one used to release normal films and this small cinema hall used to release Sirocco and other members of its family.
This title remained in mind because of an interesting event also. A new lecturer had joined just 1 month before and one night few student came back at hostel laughing and laughing. Next day monthly tests were going to be started so most of the students had not slept yet. These guys gathered almost whole of the hostel and told that during Interval (In this siracco film) while they were going out from dark cinema hall to lobby they met with two Guys. These wrere two young lecturers, one being this new lecturer who had started taking their class just a week before. Now both the lecturers and students were in a fix. Above this other lecturer was Assistant warden of the hostel.
One person among those students was like repeating the year, as for some reason he had left the study for 1.5 years and had come back to finish the course, and he broke the ice and asked in an innocent way, Sir kuch Chai, cigarrette etc lenge?
Lecturers were ofcourse in an awkward position. They had not imagined that just a night before the monthly tests, students can go to watch such a film. They might have thought it as a safe time to watch the film. They made some excuses and walked toward adjacent cinema hall and after few minutes, students saw them going back to campus on the scooter.
And to their utter astonishment, next day this asstt. warden was on duty in same room where these guys were appearing in the test. Game of eyes contact in such a position can be imagined easily.

Nice anecdote you shared sirjee. I was laughing hard. I think I know the place you are talking about
BTW, since past one month I’ve heard this name Sirocco quite a few times here on PFC since then I’ve attempted to know which film is this people are talking about. When I put the name Sirocco on google or imdb it directs me to that Humphrey Bogart movie. :D

I can’t watch serious/disturbing movies more than once. I just savior them in my head, Taxi Driver being one of the example. I can read its script, think about it, but might not want to watch it again. But, as far as I remember I have watched 2 movies more than 5 times, and they are like wine, they get better with age.
Pulp Fiction.
Andaz Apna Apna
DCH would be an honorable mention( just because it was so frehilicois at that time!)
‘Jeans’ with Aishwariya.
Yeah, i know!
Steve, I think I did have a red raincoat on in during a rain scene in a park in Brooklyn. I also appear with my suit inside out with the white lining showing at some point. :-D

I have actually seen that damn ‘KANK’ around 9-10times, but again, just like DTPH, it wasn’t out of my own choice.
It’s weird to know stuff in the background of films u don’t like!
Or maybe i’m confusing u with someone else?? :-/

Sorry for catching this late, but the Sirocco legend was something else.
I was in Lucknow those days and it started a fire. The place around the cinema hall (I think Alankar in Kaiserbagh, near Anand) was renamed as Sirocco. The rickshawpullers asked every single male teenager within 2 kms of that area the moment they spotted any, “Haan babuji, Sirocco chalna hai, Sirocco?”.
No other morning show movie ever made that kind of noise again.
