My first Short film - The Tsunami Projekt

Ok ok finally, with the help of Wasan, I’ve finally managed to upload the short FTII student film for which I had written the story, screenplay, dialogues.

This film is titled The Tsunami Projekt and was shot on a shoe string budget with minimal resources on DV. It was a part of the student assignments/project given to the FTII students in their first year.

Shahab Alam, my collegemate from Jamia Millia Islamia, and a student of 1st year sound design has directed this film. This was the film which KUNDAN SHAH praised amongst the other ‘meaningless’ student films that were screend. I was elated !!!

The film is in english-hindi and sadly, we did not even have the fund to subtitle it.

Anyways, here’s the youtube link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aIoj1gbn_Q

If you like the film, remember that I wrote the story screenplay dialogues in less than 48 hours!!

If you do not like the film, remember that I didn’t direct it !!! and we had no resources to shoot the film. I was not even present during the shooting. They had to cut down the film mercilessy due to time constraints (a 15 minute film was made into a 10 minute one)

In either case, please please please watch it and do drop a comment.

    Hey Kartoos !

Lovely. Watched it on borrowed headphones in office itself. Watched it without break.

Tight script, meaningful stuff - though the science bit went a bit above my head :)

And stop being defensive about your team’s work :) Good work is good work, so what if the creator is lil kid kartoos ? :)

keep up the good show man !

    cheers

    ravi

    Hey kartik,

I’ve managed to watch some of the movie with no sound due to no speakers at work. I’ll watch again from home but it looks okay as a mute version esp for amateur version.

Keep trying .. you can only improve .. i’ll leave some constructive comments once i’ve seen it in full.

liked the dialogues a bit esp “Mere paas maa hai”.
was a decent movie, nothing gr8, but nevertheless good.
only thing that i really dint like abt the movie was the lead actor, i cldnt get myself to like the guy, i mean he seemed to overact a bit(putting it mildly).
besides, that i think the movie was in ‘fast forward’ mode, with everything happening so fucking fast.

Well mistakes are bound to occur in an amateur film and here too, there are many. But most importantly , the film is not meaningless and deserved to be made. The story definitely had some substance in it.

Keep it up Anna! You will do even better…

good effort re….first time hai…DV hai…it was written/shot/edited and compiled….thats good enough first time.

Just that it was a team which was working…if you like it i am the writer [that too in 48 hours]….if not i did not direct it…..NOT ACCEPTED.

You are good at what you do….”NO” need to be defensive about it…=d>=d>

True Vasan. I feel the same. It’s a team effort and you have to stand by your work, irrespective of the audience likes it or not….

guys .. chill chill … it was just meant to be a joking line/statment on the lines “I take all responsibility of success , but none for failure types” .. typical of a sajid khan one…

  8. rbehemoth on January 29th, 2007 6:09 am

yeah i recall that 1,Sajid khan after hosting an award ceremony or sumthing -
“Guys if u liked my performance, keep in mind that i worked spontaneously and if u dint, the scriptwriter is backstage.” :)).

Karthik Bhai, liked your inputs, could sense the depth even in the fleeting depictions, the film was well, ’short filmy with a twist’ . it started too well, very well etched beginning, the clean shaven guy and his explanation of his theory, then too much happens-despair, breaking dreams…heck! why am i saying all this?! you wrote it so u better would know it!
all in all, waiting for more!

Movie was completely predictable, but i would say its watchable. Editing was good. Went through well with the smaller aspects even though its a short movie

ye Kartik ki pahli koshish hai … ise achhe ya bure ke nazariye se nahi dekhna chahiye…jab bachha pehli baar ghutno ke bal rengna chord, pehla kadam chalta hai, to hamesha ladkhadata hai, girta hai, phir chalta hai…mujhe Kartik ki film main aise hi pahle kadam dikhai de rahe hain… kartik apna junoon banaye rakho zaroor sarpat daud paoge…mujhe puri ummeed hai kaio se aage nikal jaaoge…dil se, GR.

@Kartik..sorry boss watching it soo late…

    1. Story deserved to be made..very good concept

    2. Dialogues were ok too, got to see the geek in you in the dialogues..lol..fuggy logic and the lecture at the beginning…uffff….woh classes yaad matt dila bhai..

    3. Screenplay was fine too..but, that sudden outburst of varun after showing of those papers..was..to put it mildly was a bit unwarranted..or maybe the acting was bad…

Rest all i am not gonna comment as you cud do just so much about that ” sachin Khedekar” wannabe and arrgghhh so dumb actress…hey but that proff was not bad at all…though he missed a few dialogues

[...] 3. “There is a tribute to Yashraj” - says anurag wrt a line in the film when a character, to pull someone’s leg says “Mere paas Ma hai”. I was elated to see that line in the film coz it is also there in my short film (Ok ok, another selfish self - promotion .. but that’s ok. Me and anurag are connected by the fact that we have both made a funny ‘tribute’ to Yashraj our films !!!) [...]
