My Journey

Fuckin’ hell, it is going to be a year for passionforcinema.com, pretty soon! And what a year it has been! When I joined PFC back in September, I did not imagine in my wildest dream, that PFC would grow into an unbelievable craze – you have to browse PFC first and then everything else. I do not think it was planned out. It just worked out, fortunately. Anyway, I am not writing this article to give any credits to the people – I am not in a position to give any credits; beside, us Goonda-log aren’t good at saying a thank you, sorry and please. Am just going to write about my PFC journey so far.

I was googling for Lage Raho Munnabhai and ended up reading Desi Train’s review of the movie. I made a couple of comments and came across passionforcinema.com logo, which was between the review and Desi Train’s logo. I was curious to find out what’s it about, so clicked on it and then ended up reading the blog for a couple of weeks. But then, I read Kartik Krishnan’s review of Shiva, and I could not prevent myself from replying to unholy comments made by Kartik regarding RGV. The comment I made in reply was more of a……, anyway, it provoked a few reactions from the authors and a discussion, that made me request for an authorship. Fortunately, I was given the authorship without giving an interview or an aptitude test. I think, back then there was a different kind of aptitude test than iView.

I wanted to have my very own blog but I also thought that it would not be worth it, as I was not interested in writing or blogging videos. Also I am an impatient writer/person; I will write any shite and then I would regret writing or saying it. So never started one. I am not good at writing and most of the time I do not have much to say. But I do like talking or writing about (Hindi) cinema; it is a subject that I sort of understand and hence have a few things to say about it – I always have an opinion about hindi cinema. Sometimes I have heaps of opnions, that half of the time I do not even make any sense. Anyway, so I jumped into the idea of blogging for PFC. I did not care about what I will write after my first article cos I would have given up writing after a couple of reviews. But am still here cos blogging ka chaska lag-gaya-hain (got addicted to blogging). Before I could only write short craps, but now am able to right a decent length of articles. So in future, I hope I would be able to write somewhat amazing craps.

When I first joined PFC, I thought I was passionate about cinema, but now I think I am not into cinema and all. At first I felt I was at home, but as more activities took place at PFC I started realizing that this is not for me – I felt out of place. I do not watch films everyday, I do not go to cinema every Friday, I am not into watching world cinema. Where as most of you guys eat, sleep and drink cinema. I am not a student of cinema; I am not as informed as some of you are. In other words, you guys are freaks! I do like watching films, but am not going to go out of my way to catch a fillum. So what the hell am I doing here?! Well, I have a dream – I want to make a film. I am still yet to fully understand why I wanna be into film-making. I do not know anything about it – I do not want to learn the craft in a school – I just wanna make films – I just wanna be a part of films. Perhaps it is the films I have watched that makes me want to be involved with the industry and also reading all those film blog diaries…….

Over the year I have read many articles by many struggler, who are struggling in their film career; some are even yet to get a break. And also there have been a lot of articles by people who have seen a bit of success. Those all articles have been very enlightening – it sort of gave me an insight about what is struggling, how industry operates, what it takes to…. Sometimes it discouraged me that if these talented people are struggling, then how the fuck am I going to get anywhere. I ain’t no where as talented as ‘em. But it also made me realized a couple of finer things – I am a typical Indian, who dreams about playing cricket for Team India and being part of the Indian Film Industry. The former will never happen, but I still dream about it – sometimes day dream about it. Likewise, I do not think I will ever be making a film, but you gotta dream…. that is me – a true piscean.

This is a place for people to share their filmy stories; it is not a place for just reviewing movies; there are various opinions. Some people have misconceptions, that PFC is a place for Indy filmmakers – well, it is and it is not. But it is for a people who have a say about any kind of cinema. PFC has many dimensions to it.

Anyway, PFC has only just started to take a few baby steps, so imagine what it would be like when it starts walking and then running. Future is bright.

ps Is this what 1 is all about?!

    HG,

    Wow… Lots of Craps:)

I saw SARKAR on DVD and liked Kay Kay a lot, so was googling for Kay Kay’s other movies and found PFC. I used to browse Rediff/India FM for bollywood stuff before and now PFC is on top of my list. Lets see how long it stays there.

I want to make a suggestion, can we have a search feature on the site, cos many times when I want to search something its really hard. It its already there then point me to it.

    Happy independence day to all..

In another words, it is on the right side – below “We are watching” feature. Or just go to the purple bit at the bottom of the page.

Like all classy newspapers have long pages…. we also have…..

Goonda Bhai, whatever (crap) you’ve written is so true. I also came across PFC sometime this year Feb, don’t remember how. But, seeing the authors name (Anurag Kashyap, Sudhir Mishra, and all passionate and knowledgeable people of cinema). Got hooked to PFC.com since then. Read most of the articles here. Thanks to OZ. Is this what 1, Ek, One is about? If not, then what on earth is 1?
