A film that could have been. I have not seen the Malayalam original “Classmates”, so I guess I have a fairly unbiased opinion. Starts well, and heads into a wonderful point with the hero and heroine getting pitted against each other despite already being in love. This could have formed a great point to revolve the story around. But instead it turns into muddled suspense thriller. And as it happens with most Indian suspense thrillers, the reasoning and payoff is plain amateurish.
It has its share of pluses. Some catchy songs by Vijay Antony and charming cast, albeit poorly characterized. Most of all, it is a turning point for a scintillating Karthik Kumar who overshadows the leads and the rest of the veteran cast by miles, despite having only a fraction of the number of scenes.
The movie has its portions where it scores, but tonal inconsistency and sheer disregard of logic in a film that takes itself so seriously can be quite a hazard.
great movie, and entertainment throughout with twists and suspense, great movie to go to. Acting wast great. Climax was excellent and heart touching.
