A good one… something I enjoyed after Kill Bill, in the cinema hall.. but McTeigue is not Tarantino… This has loads of B-movie stuff… some abhorrable lines… some adorable action and thrills…

Rain is good… Naomie Harris is just ok and a Wachoskwi regular, Ben Miles is bad.. The in-movie baddie Ozunu..is played by Sho Kosugi ( Sly Stallone  or his sound-alike provides the voice ).. Family, pronouced phaamily is his buzzword… He/his characterization is not effective and comes out as the weak link, which brings the film several floors down…

I wish they had done better stuff with the background score as well…

Do watch it…Especially the climax action scenes, which are a treat

    Kenny Kenny says:

The bloodiest movie I’ve seen in my life. About 4 times bloodier than Kill Bill. Of course, there’s a shot of tomato sauce which seems to be winking at us not to take all the blood too seriously.
Ninja Assassin’s essentially a B-movie with A-grade production. Rain does have the kind of body which would belong to a deadly killer.
On the plus side, the film was quite engrossing with not a dull moment to be found. No one in the theatre had any time to pass smart alec comments. Some of the action was well shot.
However, I wouldn’t watch it again. No repeat value for me. I personally prefer my martial arts films with a minimum of weapons, except the improvised type. The fight I liked best was the hero’s first assassination, and the other bloke wasn’t even a martial artist.
The Ninja training sequences were good, but going into magic territory in the climax kind of jarred for me. If one likes flashy, hyper-cut fights then Ninja Assassin delivers the goods well. But if you prefer, like me, to actually be able to see who’s hitting whom and how, then you’d be better off watching Ong Bak or Tom Yum Goong or Who Am I or Supercop for the umpteenth time.
In my opinion, the best martials arts movies which combine both action and story equally well are Ip Man, Fearless and Hero. When it comes to realistic action, Thai movies rule, and for sheer entertainment value and exhilirating fights, no one tops Jackie Chan.

Something to look forward to after a long time. Loved the action sequences and photography. Wonderful retelling of the Ninja mythology. Definitely not in the league of Kill Bill, but more than just worth a watch

I have to completely agree with Kenny over here.I prefer the Tony Jaa,Jet Li & Jackie Chan kind of martial arts films any day. This one has slick camera work & a very fast pace. The flashback portions especially were quite good.Rain is very good and the training sessions are great. The blood can be a put off for those who aren’t too much into martial arts films but not for those who are in to it.
Its a 2.5 rating from me.Liked the way the movie ended, probably it may spawn off a series.

More body count that you can count…that’s exactly what I wanted 2 see…good performances by the cast…would have liked 2 some of the sequences in a brighter setting, it was too dark 2 enjoy the moves at times…it’s not Kill Bill as pointed out earlier…but not unintentionally humor inducing like machine girl or tokyo gore police either…

Would not say that it is great but I was certainly surprised. I mean I am not much into this genre, but what started off as pucca B affair moved on to greater heights, and by the end, it came a sleek production. Blood is given a character, it is glorious. Liked the sequence in the rain before interval, flashback bits, the final fight(truly graphic novel), and the credits. Could have done away with lesser Hollywood indulges like dimming the lights, superfast frames, too much modern weaponry read dumbfoolery at times, I would have liked more silent sequences with the training and appealed to the more aesthetic martial arts lover, but yeah I get it its a commercial release and that, so its all good. Ninja Assassin is good fun.

Bloddy Awesome. It actually delivers what it promises. An action packed Ninja movie. THe atmosphere created by the cinematography is chilling/creepy. THe final climax fight is photographed astonishingly!! It literally sets ur pulses racing. THe slow motions are exhilerating. Finally, it is a ninja movie, it isn’t a Jetli, tony Jaa, jackie chan type of movie. It is supposed to be in the dark or else it will appear cartoonish. Except one sequence, every action scene was cohesive and had clarity.
Jaw dropping to say the least!!
