No Smoking Filmistan Studios
A set, resembling a police chownki was erected in the Filmistan studios. John and two character actors were there in the scenes shot that day.
The people who are familiar with direction would know the challenges involved in table shots, where characters are interacting sitting around a table. The key is how the director handles the ‘director’s line’ (known as ‘axis ‘ in India). Anurag was at his best in visualizing the shots, taking shots in various speeds (frame per second) 12, 24, 36, 48 and even 60; mixing close up shots with extreme close ups; using the panther dolly to full extent with camera moving on the tracks as well as vertically in the same shot and I think he even jumped Director’s line with a purpose. Would love to see how the scene looks in the film. John’s performance looks great. Check out his expressions in one of the pics!
There were some visitors on the sets as usual. There were two pretty girls from Pakistan, who are aspiring film makers and are visiting Mumbai to observe our tricks. Rajkumar had a detailed discussion with them exchanging information. Anurag started pulling Rajkumar’s leg that he had lost all his focus in work? Everybody joined in. It was hangover of Sangeeta from last night and intoxication of the Paki girls on sets. Even John did not spare him. John n AK joined forces? Check out the pics where RK is arguing and defending himself against Anurag’s complaint. The other ‘bakra’ (scapegoat) was the Still Photographer Toto. He was ridiculed of missing interesting stills of John. Toto blocked the picture, where everyone was making fun of him? Piyush Mishra stopped by to check out the shoot. I was surprised to know that he has just started working in films fulltime since 2003! Another inspiration for people who are contemplating of jumping into films fulltime. I guess the more you stay on PFC the more you will be pulled in that direction?
Chris Smith the director of ‘The Pool’ also visited the sets. His film has been selected for upcoming Sundance. As you must be knowing Anurag has contributed in its screenplay. Chris’s documentary film ‘American movie’ has won Grand Jury prize at Sundance in 1999 and other international awards. He was accompanied by the Producer of the film Kate Noble and our PFC’s ‘imoldboy’ Srinivas Sundarrajan, who assisted Chris in ‘The Pool’. I got a brief chance of interacting with them. I wasted lot of time telling about my history in the USA. Chris is based near Chicago area. For some reason I went off-track and started discussing about American football? When asked about Michael Vick he was not aware of the famous mercurial quarterback! If you check his profile on imdb, you will find that he has been a cinematographer, editor, writer and producer in films. Iamoldboy please write an article on ‘The pool’.
Anurag and company had to leave for ‘Kutch’ next morning to finalize the location for dessert scenes. It’s a long break. The shooting will resume tentatively around 19th.

Striker: I started liking football at VT. Michael Vick is a hokie. Missed Michael but saw his brother Marcus, Kevin Jones, who plays for detroit and offcourse legendary Frank Beamer!! Michael is the most popular quaterback its amazing to watch him!
@ Manjeet… Did you follow the news that Marcus was arrested and thrown out of school for possesing a gun and molesting someone?
Anurag: How is the location hunting. Are you guys back? Rajkumar was looking for a huge junkyard!

Great gallery update. This is far more user friendly then the previous version. Next step is to set up a stills gallery.
Kya bechaare Raj Kumar ku thaang kar raye ho, he does a brilliant job and a little play time is allowed every now and then ;) (besides these girls might just help him with his inspiration).
Oh and I forgot to add – John is looking incredibly hot in these pictures! \:d/

ah I see. Never heard the phrase so excuse the interpretation but you seem spot on about the little genius. i’m struggling creating a poster that the little genius has narrated to me, he’s very clear in his mind about what he wants so i have a tough task now.

I liked the idea of Caption competion! We should post a sequence of the pics and ask PFC readers to create a whole scene out of it!
