I woke up this morning and got a mail from someone i don’t even know that send me these two links on youtube and i got so emotional.. i screamed for vasan and anubhuti and showed it to them..

i was blabbering all of that..but made me feel so good.. even then i wore those adidas t-shirts.. just wanted to share it with all..

how i wish the film releases..OZ’s review not withstanding..still the best performance by KK.. here it is

ANURAG – PLS PLS PLS .. request you to answer this Q … what exactly needs to be done for it to be released ? What exactly is the problem ? as it is the film has lost money .. Why cannot the film be screened for multiplexes … with a tag line “the film which was banned buy the censors” …or the “most controversial film to have been passed” or … you know any such tagline which can attract the average cine-goer … why cannot the music be released ? why can not the trailers be released ??
AND NO …. IT IS NOT A DATED FILM !!! the colour/print quality will not matter !!!
Why can’t anuragji organize a screening for PFC people at Ketnav? The money for the screening can be contributed by everyone…I guess it comes to around 8 to 10 thousand rupees…I guess Ketnav has 20 to 30 seats? So even if each guy pools in 500…we got ourself a screening…but only if the producer agrees!
machchar – that can be done …. question is there might not be more than 50 odd people from the pfc mumbai readers gang who will come and watch the film ….
and that is not the point .. the point is for the film to be seen by the 50 lakh odd filmgoing crowd of mumbai …..

Seriously, Anurag, you must get it released. This is your time! What exactly has stalled its release? Censorship issues? No producer to back it up?
P.S. The Paanch soundtrack is one of my favorites. Main Khuda is possibly KK’s best song.

Dumb question perhaps – Is Paanch being withheld due to commercial feasibility concerns or are there other reasons behind it’s non-release?
I am not a film person but don’t such films find an audience (and potential buyers) at international film festivals or is that avenue already been explored?
Interesting Paanch story:
In 2006, we had screened Paanch at IFFLA as a 21+ screening at the ArcLight so people could get drunk while watching the movie. The morning of the screening, the ArcLight projectionist comes running to me and Christina saying, “Hey guys. This movie you’re screening tonight…’Five’ I think it’s called…”
Chris and I look at each other and go, “…yesss???”
Projectionist hesitates and then, “We only have half the print here”.
“No fucking way!”
(FYI, it took some work to get our hands on the print, because I think it was the only subtitled print of the film that existed)
“What the hell do you mean you only have half the print here??”
“Well, I mean the other half is missing. It never made it.”
We panicked. AK was around somewhere, but we both decided we want to stay away from him. If he found out, he would turn into AK-56. We had a tracking number for the package, so we decided to go find an internet connection. Just as we walked out into the courtyard, there’s AK sitting in the ArcLight cafe, sipping his beer, smiling at us. We smile back nervously and RUN.
We beg the kitchen academy people next door to let us use their computer. We track the package only to find that it was shipped as 2 separate shipments. We call our Print Traffic guy who tracks it down to some random warehouse address in the armpit of downtown LA, in the worst area of the city possible. We were shitting our pants. We walked back out, and there AK was still smiling. We wondered whether to tell him or not. And then decided to tell him anyway. He obviously had a shock. But we assured him it was gonna be retrieved. It made it back to the ArcLight, just in the nick of time. The projectionists put it together, and we had a kick ass screening and Q&A, followed by Oz’s infamous review.
FYI – The opening credits of the film are fucking mind blowing. AK you should post the opening credits at least yaar…along with the story of how you put it together.

Btw, from whatever I’ve heard about paanch so far, (and I’ve been following stories about the movie since god-knows-when) I cant help but draw similarities between Paanch and a hindi movie called “The Film” *ing Mahima Chaudhary. Ofcourse “the film” was made much later. The storylines have quite a few similarities. I could be wrong.

BLACK-FRIDAY is one of the real good movie i seen from Hindi. I love the way the story was told and how the real life footage was used. I classify it a real feel movie like BANDIT-QUEEN (one of my favorite).

you have a lot of catching up to do… dig into Anurag’s diary it has answers to most of your questions… 
Paanch was bravo, which stands against abject censor..no rule is official regulation censor board feed themselves like RTO..they enjoy censoring but in between they hold a kinda respect for big production houses such as yashraj and RK banners, also they ignore those double meaning dialogues that used deliberately in almost all commercially hit so-called comedies.
They cannot tolerate the straightforward sentence anyway they are evolving lately but double standard needs to be checked.

Anuragji, i could remember a walking interview given by u on a news channel (i think Aaj Tak)when Paanch was about to release:
u said” its like birth of a baby. i am feeling relaxed and little tensed like a mother who gives birth of a baby.” u explained it because Paanch took around 9 months in censor. But then Paanch never got released.

i am among the few who have seen paanch on the big screen — at delhi’s siri fort auditorium some years back. i think the college crowd will go wild if they see the movie. wish it was released.
The ref to Joshi/Abhyankar murders (76/77) took me back 25 yrs when i was a small kid and Jakkal/Sutar were hanged(83). There would be a eerie silence on the streets of Pune after 7-7:30pm in those days.
Also, there’s a dark marathi movie ‘Maaficha Sakshidaar’ *ing Nana as Jakkal based on this. It is one of the few A marathi movies ever made.
There’s a book by one of the accused ‘Yes i am guilty’ by Munnwar Shah.

I vaguely recall Bandit Queen or some other movie that was released into the video market before the cencors cleared it. That was blamed as piracy. If this movie can’t get censored, it should be allowed to be watched by people who want to do it voluntarily at their own expense. I am waiting ever so long.. Please Anurag, do something. Do anything….

I saw these videos last weekend and relished hearing Vishal’s wonderful songs once again from that lamentably undersung soundtrack. Every glimpse of Paanch was welcome, but the snippets from kyaa din kyaa raat were priceless: wonderfully shot and edited. And Kay Kay matches the primal intensity of mai.n Kudaa gloriously. Am I imagining things or is that Anurag himself with a handheld on the stage?
Consider this another of those numerous pleas to have Paanch released (preferably without all those censorious excisions!). :-??

hey AK i was listening to main khuda (more than once btw) and each time, i got the impression that there are influences of pink floyd ‘the wall’ (both in the music and also the lyrics)… not sure whether it was intentional or otherwise?? and the soundtrack was amazing to listen to and i just hope i also get to view the movie sometime … if an when it releases
