not upto the expectation..the camerawork was inconsistent..the royal story and the royal sets was not supported by a classy camerawork.distracting..tht rhythm was absent an many areas of this movie..and the washed out kind of digital processing made it bad..in some scenes, shot by shot the processing varies..and even the green of the forest sometime become shades of ash&brown..even the shadows are absent.. the other things were good..hats off to MT for the wonderful research and the connections he made to link diff. characters and different places ..editing too ws perfect with the available resources.. sarth kumar leads the movie ,he have done such a job which ll be remembered by the filmgoers all the time..thanks

i dont think that mammotty was real good in pazhassiraja.
the acreenplay does not allows mammoottyy to the centre character of the film. You just carefully watch the film one more time then you can understand this. I think u r a great mammoottyy fan,Every time mammoottyy enetred in the filam as slow motion, U and mammoottyy fans clapping bcoz it is in slow motion and the background sound.I think it is an ordinary film.

    Just one though- FANTASTIC!
    HARIHARAN’s FILM!

He worked for over 3 years and made a small film (compared to international budgets) which can be compared at least to hollywood biggies.

    He is the hero!

How would it go for non-mallu people??? I want to see it, but I’m daunted by the 200 min duration.

    • Gaurang- has the length of a Sholay or a Benhur been a constraint to you?I’m sure the answer is a no.I’m not saying that Pazhassi Raja is as good as Sholay or Benhur but want to say that as long as the film is able to keep you engaged the length shouldnt be a factor. For that matter MAMK has a running time of less than 2 hrs & still makes you bored and fidgety.Go for it dude, I think it has released in Inox and E-Square today.

Certainly a movie worth watching & applauding on the silver screen.Loved the detailing thats gone into the film, the performances, Ilayaraja’s score, Resul’s recreation of the war sounds and of course a big kudos to the trio of Hariharan,M.T Vasudevan Nair and Mammootty for their persistence in making this movie.Of course nothing would have been possible without Gokulam Gopalan’s support to the team.

Milestone in malayalam film history. But I think Resul overdid in sound dept, esp towards the end fight seq’s.

    Movie was splendid.
Hariharan deserves maximum credit for showing such bold conviction and determination. A historical is probably the most challenging to direct. Although MT was in supreme form in Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, Hariharan’s direction is the reason that it is timeless till today.
Pazhassi will also be evergreen thanks to his presentation, frames, and visual story telling skills.
    The direction was majestic.
Script was great. MT has proven again despite the limitations of a historical.
    Mammootty was royal.
    Sarath was great too.
Makeup and cinematography were inconsistent, but that’s understandable, for a movie made over 3 years, I heard more than one or two were replaced in each departments.

(Make up is still better than the hollywood make up man’s work in DASAVATHAAR.)

Resul’s work was good in some parts. But he cleverly underplayed Ilaiyaraaja’s BGM and pushed his effects more which was sad.
He clearly was trying to get his work noticed but his mixing bordered on Noise sometimes.

Overall- A Timeless Classic and a huge sigh of relief for the malayalam film industry.
