PFC connection weekend – DC

Beginning …..
When you get a chance of a weekend where you get to watch an anticipated movie release on night and an opportunity to meet and reminiscence more on movies with fellow cinephiles, you don’t blink.
So I packed my bags and drove to an undisclosed location that Striker had passed on to me MI style braving the thunderstorm on my way. My hope was on the movie of the night and offcourse the afternoon to follow. Once there I got the glimpse of the striker and that was strike 1. After a Mexican dinner we were off to the theatre to watch Kamal’s 10 avatars.
What followed was something of calamitous proportions as far as movie watching is concerned. After the movie, there were two angry young( taking a bit of liberty) men freaking out at the keyboards. With Catharsis complete, curtains fell on day 1.
Day 2 – June the 15th 2008 ..
The rendezvous point is no ordinary place. It is a restaurant on the waterfront and in the perfect weather one word that pops out of my mind is ‘Awesome’. In the morning one gentleman called ‘Sachit’ who has been tells us that he is driving all the way from Raleigh, North Carolina – quite a pilgrimage indeed. Striker tells me that one more pilgrim is headed from Fredricksburg and he is the Mithun -2 of PFC. We get good parking spots and the day is already feeling better. We walk upto the ravishing Sequoia restaurant and a table for 5 is reserved. It is 1 PM and we soon spot Mithun and soon enough we start ordering our food and discussing movies. Soon enough Sachit and his wife Swathi make their entry. Sachit has been one helluva passive observer of oz and PFC from the pre desitrain days and expressed his desire to have an event like East coast and we all affirmed yes to it. Swathi informed us how she hopped on to her husband’s PFC pilgrimage. Soon enough the discussions on current movie trends ensued and a pot pourri of interesting thoughts flowed from everyone. We discuss things from No Smoking to the Seventh Seal and all hope is not lost for the connoisseurs of Cinema in the days of NetFlix and italkies.com.
Sianora Time:
The session soon draws to a close as we have to begin our way back to our homes. We take a neat little picture thanks to the courteous staff of Sequoia. Seen smiling below are the Fabulous Five of the DC zone of PFC nation.
What was supposed to have been a 2 hour meeting stretched well into 3 hours and more. The disappointment of the previous day forgotten and the joy of having acquired 4 more friends in a strange country.
Till next time…
Adios!
May the force be with all of us.

Mithun – Yours truly – Sachit – Swathi and Legendary Striker.
@Striker…Nice to see you.I finally know why you are called striker and happily it has got nothing to do with Carromboard…courtesy KK or pnu…don’t remember…:-)
Cool guys…must have had lots of fun….thanks to everyone for coming…and many thanks to Sachit and Swathi..for driving for more than 4 hours to attend the PFC meet…means a lot…
Kudos Striker for organizing this…
wah bhai wah..hum tum mile aur karvaan badhta gaya!!! can we hav more pics!! thnx 4 d post VPJ.
First I think I should clear a mixup in the names: Mithun and Swati are the couple who drove all the way from North Carolina. In the photograph, they are standing in between V.P.Jaiganesh and Striker. I (satchit) am the person standing in the corner next to V.P.Jaiganesh in the photograph.
It was fun meeting fellow-PFC fans. I’d a great time. Here’s hoping that we can have more such meetups.
@V.P.Jaiganesh: Thanks for the review. :-)
VPJ, thanks for this.. and thanks to you, satchit, mithun and swati for driving long distances to have this meetup. the pleasure was all mine..
shivajee bhai, mere naam ka raaz aakhir pata hi lag gaya aapko.. chalo koi nahi.. but lemme warn you, i can strike just as well in carrom as well!
pnu, no more pics yaar.. ek hi liya and woh bhi humra phone-wa ke saath.. next time though
Thanks for clearing the mixup before my wife whacks me.. Meeting the folks and getting to talk about what you love doing the most (a definite whack from missus this time) was well worth the drive.
Sorry for the mixup!
But I got you to put a comment didn’t I!!!Mithun So the ID is free. when u are going to start writing?
And Satchit!! RGV fans like you need to support him in PFC yaar. Start writing more so that duds like me can have their butts kicked.
I had no idea this meeting was happenning so close to home!
i wish i had known earlier. I would have loved to join u guys. well, maybe next time.
Oh i am totally bummed at missing this…but had some other commitment. In the last post when I had suggested of having a DC meet I had no idea the turnaround time would be so quick (the same weekend wow). Great job Striker and the rest of you guys to get this going.
Srishti, trimoneo..keep in touch with Striker..am sure with a good turnout he will be more than happy to organize one more…
now i’ll just have to force srishti and trimoneo to come to my play next month.. that promises to be another PFC meetup
…not to mention some good ol’ fashioned striker-bashing of sorts
striker,
please let me know. i will definitely try and make it.
Count me in buddy…havent had a chance to watch a play in a really long time…
wonderful guys..at last we are now putting faces to names so familiar!!
