PFC for iPhone, Palm Pre and Blackberry
oz | Qwiki | September 30, 2009 at 2:02 pm
A bit late here, but our previous attempts had turned giving PFC the mobile wings into a bit of a disaster. But nevertheless we are done with giving it iPhone and Blackberry wings. Here are a few snapshots of how PFC turns out on an iPhone. The objective was to keep it as lightweight as possible for speedy downloads. You also have the ability to switch on and off the Mobile version of PFC in case you need to access some areas of PFC that are currently not available in the mobile version for example browsing Archives or Author lists.
The list of devices which by default will switch to PFC’s mobi version are – iPhone, iPod touch, Android, Opera Mini mobile, Palm Pre and BlackBerry Storm. We’re working on including more mobile devices and should be rolling them out pretty soon. And as always waiting to hear your feedback!
PFC home page on an iPhone. . Posts listed along with the number of comments in the red circle
The footer of every page shows the Mobile switch on | off button
Tap the down arrow next to the post title to read the excerpt or click the title for the entire post
The post on PFC - with the option to skip directly to the comments
At the end of the post you can email or social bookmark the article or leave a comment
Update –
to browse menu sections available on PFC mobi such as search box, contact, PFCrank, Trend.7 or RSS feeds, tap the arrow to the right of the title PassionforCinema and you will see the list as above. Now you can check the latest movie trends via Trend.7 or all time PFCrank of movies right from your iPhone or Blackberry.

Thanks guys. Update: this is a list of all agents/devices PFC mobi will work on. I’ve divided this list in two groups
Group 1 – The devices/agents listed here will work just fine with complete Ajax and javascript for drop downs etc.
“iphone”, // Apple iPhone
“ipod”, // Apple iPod touch
“aspen”, // iPhone simulator
“dream”, // Pre 1.5 Android
“android”, // 1.5+ Android
“cupcake”, // 1.5+ Android
“blackberry9500″, // Storm
“blackberry9530″, // Storm
“opera mini”, // Experimental
“webos”, // Experimental
“incognito”, // Other iPhone browser
“webmate”
Group 2 - The devices under this group will not load ajax, javascript and other cool features but will show all of the mobi content. We tested this on a very old blackberry version running windows and pages are loading under 20 seconds on an Edge, under 18 seconds on 3G and under 12 seconds on a WiFi

This is absolutely awesome oz bhai!!! Love the look of on my iPhone, love how it loads..i was able to load the main in 4-5 seconds..not the whole site..but the first article and it looks gorgeous..kudos to you….take a pat on your back sirjee!!!
Congratulations! An excellent initiative! Will it also work on Nokia – non-blackberry phones?
haven’t tried it on the device. If you have one, could you try it out and let us know the results. The design won’t come as nicely as on an iPhone or a Blackberry, but I’ll be very interested to know how it downloads on your Nokia. Do let me know about your device and model too when you comment in.
AWESOME!!! this sounds kickass..
This is amazing…the speed and overall look is simply great..
Excellent work Oz bhai..
Thanks sir! Now no more searching for a laptop to log on to PFC…
Nice. Way to go PFC. one more avenue after facebook and Twitter. All the power to the ppl behind PFC.
Wow! i have a reason to smile as a owner of iPhone and a reader of PFC
