safat: yaar aapke trailer ne hi phaad di… poori picture dekhne ke liye 5 lakhs ka inaam dena padega… mindfuck. u r a godforsaken genius. kya shots liye hain… mashallah!
amit: swear i will use a kondom. maa kasaammm! gr8 jawb. i admire.
Day 4 it is…
Small World is also a nice story, but wo doosra lukkhha doktor nahi lag raha tha ji bas.
Today is the Ghost Diwas. Safat – nice work, the visuals, the lighting all create the right degree of eerieness. But after a time the b/g score becomes repetitive.
Johnny wants to play is good too.
Home made kung fu – ha ha ha. Core competence waala area hai
Condom – kya karen, control nahin hota hai. Interesting way to put the idea
Goal by Amey is simply awesome. an eye-opener!
Condom and Small World were made me smile.
Trailer was really very good one, esp the effects. Of course, its Safat.
Kenny-the Funny Guy, uthna maza nahin aaya compared to your previous ones.
My pick of the day is GOAL.
Goal is rocking! its better than the John’s GOAL
Good work Amey!
Home made Kung fu: Is this is a sequel? Kenny’s acting takes the cake, dialogues are funny( reminded me of Gunda), though there was nothing much to say essentially, but Kenny’s acting and execution more than made up for it.
A sip of Infidelity: The acting by the lady is top notch, the guy didnt act that well, should have used sub titles too, again one of the films where you might foresee the twist coming, but, still, was overall a decently made movie.
Prank Call: The movie chartered territories pretty well. Thankfully, dint end up as message imposing film. Nice.
@ Tony: thanks for reminding me. i m trying to quit yaar… wink!
Hyperactive: Acting was okay, can’t say the same about the rest of the movie.
Azaadi – Initially, I thought it was about the discrimination amongst the choices, but, later turned out to be a general rant. Some of the shots were awesome, brilliant contrast. But, the movie was a bit too random.
Trailer: Safat Ali. Baas naam hi kaafi hai!
Goal: My votes for Goal..Good GOAL MONE.
Control Free-k: The acting was really good, liked the movie!
Condom: A great subject, but, everything was spelled out and straight. Not a bad movie, but could have been much better.
Johny, come out and play: Haunting. Fuck! Blew me apart..! When everyone is done viewing, can the dir. come up with his interpretation too?(that would be fun too!). My movie of the day..!
kenny: kulhaadi pe khud hi kood gaye. LOL. But nothing like saas mein badboo! i love SB! wink!
If I’m remember it right, there was one movie named “Azaadi Ghantaa” during PFCOne 2008. Is this also from the same maker?
Goal – The movie was really good, but, if the makers really put their heart into it, the movie shouldn’t end on a detached note. Give some link, some institute’s name, anything. Just writing donate your eyes, and ending the movie then and there, sounds pretty indifferent. Don’t take it otherwise guys! My opinion, purely!
Small World – Wow! Really liked it! Nice, simple, made me smile!
The Easiest Way: Some really cool shots, but, the movie tried packing so many punches in one minute. Good, could have been much better!
Prank Call is so relevant. just a few days back here in bengaluru, a teenage drag racer, who also was a muslim, got killed cuz the army thought he was a terrorist! Nice job guys…
@ Mystery of missing matron..i didnt understand..though the VO and visuals were damn good!!
@ Home Made Kung Fu…fucking awesome…awesome acting..kenny saab..esp the scene where you are trying to bolt the door..hahaah..love it..iss baar beer jaroor..no maafi..
@ Sip Of Infidelity..nicee..the woman is hot, looks like chitrangadha singh!!!..savitha bhabhi has a takkar..lol!! good concept..and well told story..but direction mein lochaa hain also ending credit music is arrghh!!
@ Prank call..lol!! nice nice..but a suggestion..if your trying to make a comedy..stick to it..dont mix a message with it..personal Opinion..you can trash it..
@Hyperactive..Good acting all round..but i guess i am not the right audience..
@Mumbai Local..i can imagine the pain in shooting this..
@ The search..well intentioned..you will find your way soon..keep doing what you are doing..
@ Azaadi..everything worked perfect..very well including the “tehelka shots”…but..but that final shot…that final shot messed it up yaar..
@Chaos..the actor reminded me of Imaad Shah..nice acting..lekin the opening shot should( well its perspective) have been something other than him waking up..it kinda looked unreal.that he wakes up and reacts the way he does..
@..@ Trailer…do i have to say anything more than SAFAT ALI..i am sure no one will complain if you win all the prizes this year…bhai..tum great ho..simply great..kya baarekiyaan hain tumharien soch mein..ek dum mast…kissi bhi image ko tum zabardast bana sakte ho..you are the TALENT!!
@ Johnny..this blew me apart took abit to realise what this was about..even then didnt in anysense bring down the impressiveness in it..the short of the day for me..superb..haunting..captivating!!
BTW..i want that soundtrack of kids playing in the background..plsssssssssss
Brilliant brilliant!!!
@ The Easiest way…I feel You..i Do!!! but that cig…not needed!! lol!
@ Small World..damn fucking funny…loved it
@ Condom..ahem..too forceful
@ Goal..how fucking poignant.this is the best film
of the day and will rank in my top 5 of the festival…simply superb..great great..Amey Mone…take a bow…superb mere bhai..superb
@ Control Free-K..ahaah…the vagaries of a married life..everyone talks about it..you have made a film about it..i love it…awesome..so, shud i get married or not? lol!!
Day four was awesome..for the reason..that..the films selected today made me go through different emotions,,
oz bhai..the selection of movies for different days..tum maalik ho..awesome
Safat you should be a visualiser… You are very good man.
Undoubtedly, trailer is the pick of the day.
I liked a small world also.
My thoughts on films of DAY FOUR
MYSTERY OF THE MISSING MAIDEN
I didn’t get it. Any particular reason you chose to use stills so widely instead of live action?
HOME MADE KUNGFU
Something about Kenny’s expressions that always make me laugh. But Kenny, use your talent with a tighter story. It’s time to graduate from David Dhawan to Raju Hirani!
A SIP OF INFIDELITY
The pay off is good at the end. But it would have been more impactful if the lead up dialogues were more creative rather than so straight. Better actors who didnt sound like they were reading off a board would have helped. Watch the 180 degree line. As you cut between the 2 shots, your camera is consistently on the wrong side.
PRANK CALL
Try, try, try till you succeed is Amit Mishra’s motto, and this time he does succeed! Good job. I really like the concept and the story. Better actors would have enhanced the film. And I also felt that you could have perhaps thrown in a couple more guys acting as policemen, maybe a couple of people as press guys in the last shot to make it more impactful. Good job!
HYPERACTIVE
Unclear.
MUMBAI LOCAL
Lovely shots, but lacks in story.
THE SEARCH
huh?!
AAZAADI? GHANTA!
Ok. I get it. But we all know whats wrong. Why dont you offer a solution to correct it? Music was good.
CHAOS
I liked it for the style. Nicely shot, very expressive actor, great sound design.
TRAILER
Superb everything! I want to see the full feature Safat! Superbly shot, cut, music was awesome. You are naturally gifted in the craft, and have an awesome visual style. I look forward to you becoming a filmmaker to reckon with very soon!
JOHNNY COME OUT AND PLAY
Creeeeepppyyy! Verry creepy! Well done. Superbly shot & cut.
THE EASIEST WAY
Good. Although the end pay off could have been left with more subtlety instead of harping on it so many times.
SMALL WORLD
Funny.
CONDOM
Engrossing. Great visuals and music. But the connection between condom & how his life turns out to be seems far fetched.
GOAL
Nice! Simple, poignant, effective!
CONTROL FREAK
Was looking for more.
My favorite of Day FOUR – JOHNNY COME OUT AND PLAY.
Congratulations to all filmmakers. Everyone has put in a lot of effort and it shows. Thanks for entertaining us.
As I sign off, my personal winner of this PFCONE over all 4 days is….BLACKOUT
safat: yaar aap peete kya hain? gobsmacked by ur genius… the undoubted STAR of PFCOne…
Kenny and KK. Fuck need to think of something ASAP to shoot with both of them.
MINUTE MAHARAJA OF THE YEAR – SAFAT ALI
@ vasan – ek idea aaya – may be kenny can make a follow up movie, wid da konsent of vasan & safat. DON KI DUSKY BAS USKI. The story of a wannabe don & a struggling / irate TV serial actress. Both haven’t made it in their respektive careers. both frustoo, irate & may be one fateful day both are waiting for the goddamned AUTO Maakhod, to make it to the best career option they get. Don gets supari of Uditya Raj Khan & Duskyji gets to audition for Anurag Varma’s Fuck By Chance. Then wut ensues will be a total Kenny-brand madcap entertainer…
Think about it!
Magik,
Waah! kya idea hai. Waah! kya idea hai!
@ Thakur saab: Blockbuster hai ji… jai mata di.
Madhav Mathur bhai kaun hai tu?????????????? kahan hai tu? kahan se aaya??? write write something about yourself here man….am really reallly reallllllly curious to know.
MYSTERY OF THE MISSING MATRON
damn good, nice start to the day…..
though that one second of video stuck out, would have preferred if it was all still pics
Magik…they both meet and call out to each other..JOHNNY COME OUT AND PLAY!!!!!
Fuck Madhav…comment over here ASAP.
and then JOHNNY became the JOKER
@ vsanbala..i dont think so…but it maybe the case…hence i loved it so much..some shots..those shots of a doll burning in boiling oil…ooouch..awesome!!!
# The Easiest Way by Tony Fernandes – WICKED ehhehehe
Home MADE KUNGFU
was again fun as usual, the fight was well choreographed…..
GOAL is really brilliant. KEEP IT UP “AMEY”
all smokers @ PFC beware… its the easiest way!
Goal by Amey Mone – nicely done…..but donno maybe it’s me….i have a problem with the an act initially with a section of the body covered….act done….then revealed….he/she was blind/handicapped. I have mentioned it ….donno why….maybe because I saw some 150 such film at the disability festival at Chennai in 2005. All films on disability follow the same pattern…act….revelation….slow motion…strings in the background….and the message.
But as a film nicely shot…and what the heck gets the message across as a PUBLIC INTEREST FILM…who am i to crib…
PRANK CALL
nice, maybe you could have done away with the opening bit as to why they were bored and so on…
HYPER ACTIVE
err…didnt like the concept, the execution was good though..
right said vasan: the film did its jawb. msg delivered. beep beep.
MUMBAI LOCAL
liked this a lot, though why did the sound disappear at certain points?
and maybe the colour could have been better, it was too white at places
@Vasan: I’m stuck in office man. Haven’t seen a single film today.
I’m based in Singapore and will be working with AK sometime in the future. Have written a book that is coming out in the middle of this year and hopefully my sexy independent feature will be out soon too.
Took part in PFCOne last year, made a film called PuddleJumper. I think we’ve spoken on the phone or exchanged emails before sir.
Abhi ke liye itna hi. Will write more when the shackles come off:)
Madhav Mathur is the amol gupte of PFCOne. Salut!
Nice trailer safat..
@mystery – LOVED IT ….should have been cut shorter and in competition ..wish it would have been completed too ….
waiting for the full film
@homemade kungfu – kenny rocks !!! period
@sip of infidelity – dialogues … neelam mishra acted well ..the guy could have been better …
@prank call – well edited !!! nice film ….nice take on a cliche topic …impressive
@hyperactive – bad acting ..bad dubbing ….. liked it ..nice idea …nice twist
@mumbai local – very relatable documentary-ish take …nice despite bad quality
@search – hmmmmmm rambling ….. random
@azaadi – the same point could have been conveyed much better
@chaos – WTF !!!
@trailer – lovely visuals..trailer looks good …
@johnny – had no clue wat film is about ..but nice visuals ..yes pls will the director comeup with his interpretation ..
@easiest way – hehehehehheheheheheh last shot was nice …
@small world – LOL ….wicked background music
@condom – hehehehehheheheh …. could have been better ….last expression was funny …
@goal – nice…liked it ..though im not sure if “help them achieve their goals” is the right message to be sent accross
@control freek – heheheheh brought a smile onto my face …. the cast Bala looks like nishikant kamat :P
@Sudhir Nair
It’s InFIDElity, not ‘InFEDIlity’.
@madhav…you the same guy? of Puddle Jumper…it was fucking brilliant..Johnny is as well…i can see the improvement though…dude..very good luck to you..you the champ!!
thanks …..!!!!!!all of u…!!!!!!!!!
@madhav mathur….great movie bro..!!!!!! i like too much..’johnny….’!
My fav film – AUTO MATHERCHOD
My Fav Filmmaker – Shafat Ali.
His Nymph was very heartfelt & touching. I loved it. Accident was amazing. Traler has 2 of the best shots of PFC ONE this year. Like Vijay I’m waiting to see your feature.

@Kenny – I’m your DieHard fan
@mainak..lot of thank for intna saara..pyar..!!!
Day 4: My thoughts; Johnny… had some strange eeriness about it… few shots seemed too gory… Attn Smokers…Tony just told you the easiest way, Small world and Condom… funny, Goal… I agree with Vasan… though I felt there should have been more jubilation and energy on hitting the goal, Control Free-k… funny… guy had a nice voice and Trailer… do I need to say something! Safat… just tell me if its a promo of some forthcomin film or a one-min film titled Trailer
@ shekhar shimpi..thank..maine nahi dekha vo trailar..! ab dekhunga..right now..! main asal me internet itna nahi janta..sirf mail check karta hu

Day 4 observations contd: Kenny at his usual best in Home made Kungfu, Mystery left me wondering though I liked the style, Infidelity… could have been better, Prank Call a nice idea, Hyperactive was a nice sattirical take on Taare Zameen Pe syndrome if I got it right, rest were good attempts… guys! keep it up and all the best!!!

Forgot to mention
@Vasan, liked your film a lot, left a comment on day one too.
@Safat, you’ve been consistently good. Hope to have more from you soon.
@OM, yes sir, I’m the guy who made PuddleJumper.
@Magik, thanks man!
Thanks everyone else for your kind words about Johnny. I’ll share more about my interpretation when I get home.
Still haven’t seen a single film today!! Fark. I’m sure Kenny killed it again.
Mystery of the Missing Matron
Something about stills that always gets me in shorts. I guess some german short I saw long back did it. But this though well mounted, with good technique, does not convey the point.
Home Made Kung Fu
Loved the goofiness, the way it plays out. Supercool chilled out feeling.
A sip of infidelity
Bad sound, that’s about it, it throws one off. Could be done much better with a closer camera and clearer delivery. Also the dialog can be cut down to underline the twist.
Hyperactive
Good intention but badly done, also the bedroom drama thing throws me off.
Mumbai Local
Good one, relatable.
The Search
Wtf?
Azaadi? Ghanta!
Well intentioned, could be more subtle. Are you complaining about the overall sad state of affairs or highlighting Bangalore’s banned approach towards fun?
Chaos
I liked this one, nice punches, good acting, nicely cut, good mix of music. I could hear No smoking lines somewhere. Was reminded of Sami’s graphic novel on a similar theme.
Trailer
Awesome shots. Safat Bhai rules.
Johnny come out and play
Didn’t get it, put me off with the images.
The easiest way
Hmmm…nicely packaged, but should have chosen a linear path.
Small World
Nice one, liked the way its done khat-khat.
Condom
Liked few shots, one in the park with the laughing club, then the final outcry.
Goal
Liked the way the twist is brought about…right…right…shoot.
Control Free-k
Confusing

Spot on mate! The dialog style IS inspired by Gunda!
@OM
Dost, main beer-weer nahin peeta. Only red wine ïŠ
@Vijay
“David Dhawan to Raju Hirani” Funny you should say that! I was just TODAY thinking that I’m almost like a David Dhawan, and it’s time to make some serious stuff!
@Magik
I like the idea. Let’s see if Vasan and KK can come up with something solid.
@Shekhar
One of my Sankalan entries was a horror/sci-fi whose atmosphere would have been almost like your Raven.
@Anand
Mate, let’s hope Sankalan comes through
@Tushar
Shukriya, man
Kenny
@Rick
The half second punching/blocking exchange we practised quite a bit. And the leg that kicks my face and stomach is a fake leg ;)
@ Kenny: chk mail. pronto!
Hi all,
Thanks a lot for appreaciating GOAL.
Its been a wonderful start, all credit goes to PFC.
Thanks a TON once again.
Cheers.
Home made Kung fu Kenny gets better n better
Hyperactive – quite good; the payoff could have been a bit better tho..
Mumbai Local – sound was the only problem; otherwise quite good.
Azaadi? Ghanta! –
Trailer – well made, but i still love ur Nymph better.
The Easiest Way – nice
Small World – very well made with a good payoff and humour !!
Condom – accha hai
Goal by Amey Mone. The movie of the day and maybe the movie of the competition as well !! Note how the kid runs actually runs in a wrong direction and the man catches him. SUPERB !!
Control Free-k – Funny n nice !
Trailer – A collection of some very good images. Waiting for the film as a trailer doesn’t give the story away. Safat, you told a very fine story in The Nymph. It’ll be among the winners.
Johnny come out and play – Madhav, come out with the story , I didn’t get this one. Lovely visuals, though.
Small world – Ironical twist. This could happen to anyone. Thanks for the warning, Tony.
Azadi – The randomness of the shots made sense in the end. If you want azadi, then you need some magik ;)
Goal – Great premise. Something to reflect on.
Home made Kung fu – Was waiting for some Kung fu and some action. Kenny, we’re now waiting for Ek plate Kung fu!
A sip of infidelity – Sudhir, I couldn’t get the dialogues. But its gotten me curious. Watching it again.
Kenny! YOU ROCK!!!
Wonderful ‘Goal’
Here are some more candid comments for today’s films:
1. Mystery of the missing: Nice shots…and some good experiment with still photos. But alas, couldn’t understand the story/twist/plot. Also, was it actually made for PFCOne or a trimmed version of some other project? The end credits are ‘interesting’.
2. Home Made Kungfu: Kenny rocks as the smooth talker. Also, could see a hint of Kill Bill type logic and action. (Was it a tribute?) Totally enjoyable…
3. A Sip of infidelity: Tried to get the dialogues twice but couldn’t. And the framing was too flat or ordinary at most places.
4. Mumbai Local: Could see the intent…and the final shot kind of rounded up the story well….but still, since it was a completely visual-dependent film, visuals were lacking in style, frame, and even cutting.
5. The Search: Abstractness of it saved the film i guess. else i would have been tempted to call it random.
6. Azaadi Ghanta: The film didn’t go anywhere ahead of it’s title. In fact, it just ‘explained’ the title in a visual way. So disappointing…as the name promised a lot.
7. Trailer: Great visuals…in fact, some are stunning. Colors, hues, shadows, silhouettes…style is all over the place. But then, it appeared more like a random collection of such shots…no sense of character/plot/situation could be conveyed.
8. Johnny: No idea what that was about. In fact…my common grouse for most of the films this year is – they either convey something too trivial (eg. there will be blood, koga..) or something too deep/abstract (Accident, let’s get physical, raven…). Shouldn’t there be a different structure for a one-minute film than a full-length or a 30-minute short?
9. The easiest way: Bad acting…skewed concept. Nice narrative though.
10. Small World: Again…asking for too much in too short a time for too trivial (if not, too inconsequential) a theory.
11. Condom: The effort put in is commendable…and in fact, the film holds the attention till the very end. But sadly, the pay-off doesn’t make much sense…and why-o-why do we need a social message (lamest possible) at the end?
12. Goal: Very nicely done. Though the ‘twist’ was very much a writing on the wall but still, the way it was done (shots of falling, the casual acting, shot breakdown…) makes it one of the good ones this year.
Also, i think, were the words really needed in the end? Didn’t that take the charm away a bit?
13. Control free-k: Reminded me of many things…including bad sitcoms on TV. The writing was a bit smart-ass though…which did make the initial portion interesting…but the plot and that grating music killed any hopes.
Finally, a big thanks to PFC and all the makers who gave us invaluable lessons in short-making and some good ones to watch.
Johnny means a lot of things to a lot of people and that’s a good thing for me. However, since many have asked, here’s what I wanted to say:
The abandoned toys and ice-cream in ruin imply the absence of children, in this case personified by a ‘Johnny’. The brutal treatment of meat represents something once pure and beautiful being scarred and tortured in anger.
The ending sequence shows an angel-shaped mirror lying in a locked cage. Johnny is not able to do what is natural to him. He can’t come out and play.
That’s as succinctly as I think I can put it.
All the best.
‘mystery of the missing matron’ – sorry chelsea, didnt quite get it.
in ‘home made kung fu’, when kenny says “rukooooo” i was fully expecting him to say ‘Aau Lolita’…..ekdum Shakti Kapoor wala expression diya yaar. story mein dam nahin tha (story thi kya kahin?), but your expressions were proceless. fight sequence was also well filmed.
‘a sip of infidelity’ – have read many similar things on the internet. novelty value nahin tha. your film had the same problem that my first 2 films faced. sound problem. dialogues of the man are not very clear.
‘hyperactive’ – wow biju! so effectively shown yaar ki maa-baap bina baat ka tension lete hain aajkal. the kid is in playschool for gods sake! he has only wet his pants!! itni chotti umar mein psychiatrist!!! behen*&^%!!!! after the movie ended i was cursing the friend who suggested a psychiatrist. i know many such people ki bachche ko cheenk kya aayi pahaad sar pe utha lete hain. damn it, let the kid be. maana ki tumhara bachcha hai par give him/her some space to breathe.
‘mumbai local’ – mangesh wtf?
‘the search’ – wtf again
‘azaadi? ghanta’ – didnt like it. no offence.
‘chaos’ was an anti-climax
competitive section
‘trailer’ – safat bhai, nymph jitna mazaa nahin aaya. very well shot. good use of background score. but somehow not fulfilling. maybe jab trailer waali poori picture ban jaayegi tab zyada mazaa aayega. a question – was the blood supposed to flow freely from the hand as it does at the beginning of that scene?
PS: i know it wasnt intentional, but try pausing ‘trailer’ at 00:32. moby ‘dick’ – the rising. ;)
‘johnny, come out and play’ – the visuals were disturbing. the childs dialogue was haunting. madhav, didnt get it. read your interpretation. will watch it again.
‘the easiest way’ – idea was nicely put forward. i will show this to my younger broether. hope this helps him quit.
’small way’ – lol. the use of the cat and dog sounds during the quarelling scene was a nice touch.
‘condom’ – some of the shots were very well taken.
‘goal’ – PSA of the day. very well shot.
‘control free-k’ – nice. the twist was obvious right from the first scene. i lol’ed at the ‘kyunki saas….’ bg music. the lead acted well. expressions were good. but the way he was delivering his dialogues, it seemed like he was hosting an english cookery show.
“Home-made Kung-fu” -hilarious!
“Azaadi Ghanta” – random.
“Chaos” – the kind of movie that’s made with the intention that it will fit into the “hat-ke” category. Seen so many of these in this festival. Dissapointing.
Johny, Come out and play – fantastic! My pick of the day. Brilliant cuts. However, (and I could be wrong here) an idea heavily heavily inspired from the title credits of the tv show “Dexter.”
@Tanul
thanks a lot.
@Magik
thanks. the idea was again a ‘what if’ moment for me. we read in the papers ki police hamesha terrorists ne kisko call kiya aur kisne usko call kiya sab pata kar leti hai.
@Om
yup, i am trashing it.
arre yaar, i was never trying to give a message from this movie. message jismein tha (conspiracy) woh to maine dhang se shoot hi nahin ki. ;)
but i feel ki if we can blend a message in the story, and if it doesnt look forced, then we should incorporate it.
damn! thanks bolna to bhool hi gaya.
@vijay
thanks a lot. ghar ke logon se hi kaam chalana pada. agli baar actors yahin se uthaunga. will try and contact kk. kk bhai, aapki demand bahot hai. calendar mein dekh ke batana dates hain ki nahin.
@kk
thanks a lot. cliche mein vishwaas hi nahin rakhta yaar main. main dabbe ke bahar nikal ke sochta hoon. out of the box, you know. ;)
@all
dont know why, par bahot logon ne meri film pe comment karna avoid kiya hai? ghabrao mat yaaron, i dont bite.
@Vicksteria: Nothing to do with the tv-show Dexter. My interpretation is in comment #87.
Thanks for making it your pick of the day.
pick of the day, without a doubt goes to johnny.. creepy and disturbing. madhav, simply superb.
safat, nice visuals in trailer. awaiting the feature.
kenny, nice choreography boss.. maza aa gaya. comedy is definitely your forte. kyunki saas was fun to watch too, thanks to savitha bhabhi ;) think i was expecting too much from chipak gaya.. but kung-fu stood out for me.. your expressions and delivery are priceless.. “rukoooooo” and “abbe aa na”. my compliments to your actors, especially bonny.. that boy can kick some ass. good repeat value on your films.
thanks a lot all for kind words abt Mumbai Local
@Rusted rick
@ VarunGrover
@ Sudhir Nair @Tushar
All the best to all !!

Just wanted to thank all who took the time to provide feedback. Particularly to those who commented on “Moon Gary”
@Amit Mishra
The actors in MoonGary are friends – possibly acting for the first time. The lead has indeed done such a wonderful job. He single handedly makes the film work.
The name is indeed a reference to “Mungerilal ke haseen sapne”. I am very happy someone got that.
@Kartik Krishnan, @sujith, @vijay, @Arun Prakash, @Neeraja
Thanks for commenting. It is so important to get feedback, +ve or -ve.
@Tushar
@Tanul Thakur
It is so satisfying when someone gets it. It is intended to be a sweet film with slightly deeper reference.
“Apni Apni Olympics.” was exactly my one line synopsis when I submitted the film.
I originally thought of my (an engineer’s) aspirations and how they are so different from those of someone like Michael Phelps and yet not that different. We all want to do well and get recognition. And often it is to really just show that “Yes, I can”.
And usually this is directed towards those who mock you by saying or implying “No, you cant” to your face. This is why the short makes the loser do the medal ceremony. I failed at establishing that both the characters are familiar with each other.
Often the person mocking me by saying “No, you cant” is me.
And thus making a one minute short is enough but when people like it – It feels fantastic.
Sorry I could not respond earlier. Was busy with something and I logged into PFCOne only on the 3rd day.
I made “Moon Gary” (day 2) and here is my take on the shorts over the last 4 days:
Excellent:
AutoMadar, Nymph, Accident, Sense of an incense
Loved it:
Destination, Competition, Home-made kungfu
Nice:
Koga, without cheese, Virtual vs reality, nazariya
Weirdly interesting
Tigrophotonics
Raven
Johnny, come out and play
Goal: Nicely done.
But I am with Vasanbala on the structure of movie with disabled people. But you have inspired me with your short.
Hey everyone:
I’m the filmmaker who directed “The Mystery of the Missing Matron”. Reading the comments here has been a real kick, and I’d like to respond to some of the specific comments.
I directed “Missing Matron” as a submission to LE:60, a one-minute film festival in my hometown of Boston. When I made it, I had six weeks in which to go from story to final cut. There wasn’t enough time to roll film and all I had was a digital still camera that could record some moving pictures. Since I’d just seen “La Jetee” (which might be the film Tushar mentions?), I figured I’d make a photo roman (short with stills). Since most PRs have one or two moving shots, I threw in two of my own. Hey, if it’s good enough for Chris Marker, right?
The short was inspired by 1950s girls’ detective novels like Nancy Drew. Unfortunately, there was no way I could fit a whole pulp mystery into a one-minute movie, so I chose to portray a key moment from the story.
I’m really flattered by all the comments about the visual style. I worked really hard on making a visually engaging short, so at least I was successful at that.
I do have a cut of the film with a screen that directs viewers to visit my website for complete credits. Apparently I submitted the wrong cut? The short was fairly labor-intensive and it was important to me that everyone have their opportunity to take a bow.
I’ve written a script for another one-minute movie that tells the entire story in a minute. Making this film, seeing other one-minute movies, and getting feedback on mine has helped me understand more about how to make a one-minute short. I will be working on it in the coming months, and I hope the PFC folks like it.
Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback. I’ve had a long week at work and I’m looking forward to watching the PFCOne films this weekend!
So, who is the winner going to be? Any guesses..?
@chelsea,
the mystery had its charm!!!
although i would have loved to hear a bit more modulations in the voice over..
nevathaless niiice
Personal favs:
Gold: Johny, Come out and play.
Silver: Nymph.
Bronze: Auto Madharchod.
Having said that, Auto Madharchod has the most repeat value, dark and funny at the same time.!
Presenting SatyaVrat awards for PFCOne 2008 ;-)
Hrishikesh Mukherjee award for best movie- Nymph
Gurudutt award for best movie(critics)- The Raven
Satyajit Ray award for best director- Safat Ali
Mehmood award for best entertainer- Kenny Basumatary
John Abraham award for most overrated movie- The Anniversary
Pawan Malhotra award for most underrated movie- Tigrophotonics
Nasseruddin Shah award for best actor- Kartik Krishnan
Kamal Swaroop award for most surreal movie- Johnny, come out and play
Anurag Kashyap award for best script- Without Cheese
Kanti Shah award for most wtf movie- Nazariya
Johnny come out and play is absolutely brilliant. The shots, coloring, lighting and minimum use of VO makes it eerier and creepier than “trailer”.
Trailer, is successful is the intend was a spoof on a usual cheesy Hollywood Halloween movie.
Hyperactive was funny but predictable, and also marred by bad acting and lighting.
Small world is worth mentioning just for the cheesy sound effects. It gave the short a different tempo.
Another short that stood out was Mumbai Local, was shot very docu style, and delivered the message without any twists or effects.
@ Styavrat..thanks for the Kanti Shah award…ahah..love it!!!
I want to thank my dad, my mom..my striker..for who i am today..and satyavrat for giving me this most un-biased award..thank you thank you…taaliyan!! lol!!

@ madhav mathur
Honestly dude, I dont know what you were trying to say but that for me was disturbing and disgusting
@amit mishra
Prank call was really really nice dude,,,for me it was more than what it looks to be…a really well-thought idea..
@amey mone

@suprabh
thanks for the kind words yaar.
@satyavrat
ROFL….nice choice of awards. nazariya was the most deserving in that category. ;)
HAIL MITHUNDA!
@chelsea – checking out ur website immideatly ..and i completly agree with what u said about ur film being in the ‘hardy boys’ zone … i was hooked … i desperatly want to see the long film (am guessing it would be a 10min film that u trimmed for pfcone) …. liked ur film a lot …
@madhav – checked ur website yesterday – saw puddle jumper, johnny, comedian ..i must say u have the most morbid/distressing/disturbing sense which u employ to wonders while making a film ..i loved them all …personal fav being the comedian (the lead reminded me of shiv subramaniam who played Francis in PArinda)…disturbing is the word…upsetting..eerie … love it … i mean all of it as a compliment … i loved them all … really really envious of u guys @ bad-alliteration …would have met u for a drink had u been in mumbai … the takeshi kitano …chan wo park ..the famous korean filmakers’ violent upsetting streak is evident ….hidden .. EERIE is the word … SUPERB
Kartik, thanks man. Appreciate the time you spent watching our stuff. I may be a little morbid, but I mean well
The feature we’ve shot is an old school noir comedy, or atleast my version of it. Hope to have it out soon. Will keep you posted about Mumbai visits, would love to catch up with you guys.
“I may be a little morbid, but I mean well” ..thats what those who are disgusted by ur films didnt understand ..it is an old school noir ….
jaldi aaja mumbai mein ..i owe u a beer
@Madhav
I found Johnny genuinely creepy and unsettling, so Madhav, you’ve succeeded in your intent, which is I think, my personal philosophy as well…your movie is a success if it gets the reactions you’re seeking
@SatyaVrat
Thank you very much. Entertainment’s always been the intention, although for the next year I’m probably gonna do all dark stuff and get my demons out
@Striker
“good repeat value on your films.” You and I think alike, mate! I came to this realization/decision about 4 years ago that anything I do should have repeat value as far as possible
@Amit
You enjoyed the choreography and had fun, that’s good enough for me.
No story. Only backstory (it was a sequel to last year’s Local Kung Fu
@Varun
Not a tribute to Kill Bill…more of a tribute to Mithunda’s Gunda, with the rhyming dialog
Goal: The essence of movie making, in my opinion.
A sitation with two meanings. Two clues atleast to the other meaning but only revealed in the end. Wow. Bravo Amey Mone!!
