Also, the vetting process for movies have begun. Volunteers and readers are actively participating to help us make sure that all movies in this submissions list have not been shown any where on any public or private platforms except film festivals. Unfortunately we’ve found a few entries are or existed on pubic domain, these entries are now being declined and withdrawn from the list. We are sorry to see your entries declined, but hope that next year we’ll see you again with a film made exclusively for PFCOne.

The Competitive Section will be announced on December 10th and the Festival Schedule on December 15th

Update Nov 28 : 185 movies. Around half a dozen late fee submissions received, but waiting for your movies, we’ve sent emails to you if you submitted your late fee, but we don’t have your submission form and your movie. Please do submit your movies and forms at the earliest before the deadline.

Wow… what a day… over 70 submissions in one single day. Some of you even sent 6 times the submission form for the same movie. And FINAL.FLV seems to be quite a few participants favorite last cut file name. :)

You’re doing great guys. Fantastic subjects. Brilliant ideas. and a lot of my personal views will follow during the festival… and one parting shot… your idea if you think is unique… think again… what separates you from the rest of the crowd is the genius in execution… and if you could get your genius out in that movie, you’ll find your way to the competitive section…

And hey, loved to see Kabir (161) with his entry, for those who came late… Kabir’s the Golden Minute Winner of the first PFCOne that we kicked off in 2007… So glad to see you here again for the third time Kabir!

Update Nov 15 (3): All entries that we received by 4pm Nov 15 PST (530am Nov 16 IST) are now in the list. If you sent in your movie before 4pm PST and do not find the movie in the list please email us and let us know when you’d sent it along with your email address and movie name. Chances are your movie may have been rejected cause of an incomplete submission form or it did not find its way in our email box.

Another 5 and half hours to go before the no-fee submissions to the festival are closed @ 10pm Nov 15 PST (1130am Nov 16 Indian Time IST)

Update Nov 15 (2) : A request to all to please check that you are submitting the entire submission form along with your movie. In the last minute rush, quite a few submissions have no forms or incomplete forms attached. Declined submissions are being notified immediately via email. Please take the time to see your submission forms are complete before submitting your movies that you’ve worked so hard on.

Update Nov 15 (1) : The final list may cross a 140 movies. We woke up to see more than 60 movies in our submission inbox!!! We’ll be updating the list every 30 to 40 minutes all day today. About 12 hours to go before we close the submissions window after which entries only with late fee will be accepted for the festival. Please note the time the closure -

Nov 15, 10pm Pacific Time – that’s – Nov 16, 1130am Indian Time

One word, as I go through the last rush wave of entries. Brilliant!!! Thank you for sharing your tremendous passion and bringing your amazing creative work to the Festival.

Update Nov 14: 98 movies. I’m been working since early morning downloading submissions. Checking submitted forms and getting them into the festival pipeline. And each time I think I’ve reached the last submission email, half a dozen more pop in. It’s been going on like this for the last six hours. If you find anything messed up in your entry in the list below please email us and if you don’t see your movie in the list, please let us know immediately.

I’m smiling, not at the last minute rush, but the enthusiasm, the energy, the crazy stories and ideas so many of the entries have in them. And I can already see in atleast dozen films, the seeds of our future filmmakers who’s movies we will be seeing a few years from now on the big screen. I guess that would be one of those moments when we’ll be shouting our lungs out, Hey I saw you first on PFCOne!!! Touchwood!

Just over 30 hours to go before we close our first window of acception submissions for no fee.

Update Nov 13: 2 days to go before we close the window to accepting submissions without a fee. From Nov 16 onwards until Nov 30, we’ll only be accepting submissions with a late fee.

If you are working on submitting your movie by Nov 15, please do rush in your entries. We’ll stop accepting submissions without late fee on Nov 15, 10pm PST. That’s Nov 16 1130am India time.

And I’m glad I’m no way on the panel to select the movies for the competitive section or even deciding on the winners of the festival. This is one super tough festival with so many kickass stories, it’s gonna give the panel and the jury some seriously tough time. I’m already in love with at least a dozen odd movies submitted this year. Sorry can’t tell or show you the movies till the festival (some advantages of working on PFCOne :) you get to see it first!!!)

Update Nov 12 : List is getting updated almost everyday. As of today we have 58 approved entries for the Festival. 3 more days to go before we close free submissions. Nov 16 to Nov 30 we’ll only be accepting entries with a late fee.

Update Nov 11 : Movies received until Nov 11 and confirmed to PFCOne guidelines, have now been added to the the list. Amazing stories pouring in. The PFCOne old supporters Safat Ali and Gajendra and back with the next movies.

Reminder. If you’ve sent your movie before Nov 11 and do not find it in the list below, please email us to check if it has been declined or perhaps we are missing it in our inbox.

[Update: due to some technical errors we've had to republish the post, and may have lost the comments for this. Apologies if you had your comment in here]

Following is the list of submissions that we’ve accepted so far. Please note this list will be updated every Sunday until November 30, 2009.

If you have submitted your movie and do not see your movie listed please contact us immediately. Chances are we had to decline your submission because it may not have followed one or more of the festival guidelines. The acceptance process has been stringent this year, so many movies that clocked over the time limit had to be declined.

Please use this link to check the guidelines and for the submission form and submission details.

The movies from the submission list selected for the Competitive section will be announced by the second week of December.

The stories just keep getting better each passing year. I’m very surprised by the amazing creativity shown by many this year… and specially when some filmmakers have come up with stories of the horror genre!!! Just like last two years we’ve had an intense flood of PSAs. My favorite still remains the fiction ones told in a minute. While some others on the panel dig PSAs.

Like each year I’m a bundle of nerves after announcing the Call for Entries, always being assured by the editors that it is going to be fine… but… I’m never sure what we will get to see. And each year, a month before the closing of submissions, there is a sigh of relief… Yes!!! there is an awesome amount of talent and creativity out there, and in a small way we are just trying our best to tap them.

This year is going to be an awesome festival with such variety of stories told in better and better ways. Some may leave you stunned! You are in for a super rocking 5 days in January. This I promise!

Even After an update and without earlier comments this looks like a great list of movies :D … (Ok I know Bad joke!)

Child Education, 7 year itch, Mumbaikar’s confession, CO2 emmissions and what not… and I assume this is just 10% or less of the total entries.

This is going to be a pure treat for lovers of movies like us and it also gives them an opportunity to be a part of. Thank you PFC.

For many of us, who think hundereds of times that “Oh man, this should have been done like this! ” this is a chance to do what we want. Good, bad, whatever, we simply love doing it, both our masterpieces and our mistakes. Thanks PFC for giving us that chance :) .

I am loving it. Ta da da ta ta.

Making a minute film is more harder than any other short films or feature films where you get enormous amount of time to tell your story but telling a story in a minute will have to be genious. However I’ve almost finished my editing and hoping to submit by next week.

Besides, just finished my 1st draft of feature film screenplay “HOONES” an Indian story in Australia…..leave it..If I win this comp that would be my biggest day in my life and will through huge party coz I’ll get an opportunity to work with dreamed directors. Love ya PFC ….just coz of U.

  51. Hey guys I am looking forward to all your films, I am sure for me there is something to learn in each one of them.It was quite an experience to make this film and thanks PFC for the encouragement to do that. A lot of things went wrong which wont be repeated on the next short :)

Silly thing after making the film I realised that it was a little bit longer than a minute. A minute and fifty seconds to be precise. And then I was battling on the edit to cut a few portions off and to keep the core of the film as it is, so overall it was a great to learn what mistakes I did while writing, I think I should have filtered it a little bit out on paper and should have had a better judgment calculating shot durations. But yeah I will save these for next time:)

Hope you will enjoy watching it. And I will love to hear you guys out, criticisms as well as the positives ( You need them, thats the fuel)

“Profession is not what u do for a living, profession is what u r born to do.”
    - Vincent van Gogh

After exhausting all possible excuses, procrastinating it for a lifetime and every other fuck-up we finally made the film and more importantly managed to submit it before the deadline ran out on us…Even though it was the 2nd deadline which came in with a late fee reprimand.

Not many including the cast and crew on this one, had a cent-percent belief that it’ll end up to any logical conclusion even after we had shot and canned it on a cold and trippy Dilli winter night.
Anyway, I have always been convinced that film-making comes naturally to some…
A one-minuter wud always present technical challenges like wrapping up ur story in so many frames or establishing characters within a blink of an eye… limitations on the number of characters within ur story due to that… and so on!
Beyond all this, we just took up one more creative challenge and that was to make a one-minute film that’s entertaining… Having a look at the archives from last 2 PFC/ones I found a lot of the entries failing to outlast one’s attention even beyond the first 15 seconds. The only reason I guess people still end up watching most of them is because most of us consider 1 minute too dear a duration to spend aimplessly …or splurge rather… (and offcourse one’s not paying for it). Yes, among them there were quite a few great ideas, good productions and passable presentations but most failed to really-really hook you if you know what I mean.
So that’s one thing that I have really tried to bring about.
And offcourse the mandatory ‘message’ behind the whole paraphrenelia…
“Smoking kills” …and that goes without saying!

Pretty soon we would find out if it did work or am I just being conceited.
    Sooner or later…actually!

    Hi all!

Congratulations to all participants whose entries are listed here.

I am new to this competition and am confused about how the screening works. During those four/five days of festival would the movies be available for all five days/a particular time period (say 24 hours each)? Or would it be like a telecast show – every film would be ’shown’ only once and one has to be hooked on to the site when it is being ’screened’ to be able to watch it? Would the audience have the choice of watching it at a time convenient to them? Would they be able to watch a film more than once?

I know these questions would sound trivial to many. So blame it on my ignorance but Oz or any other knowledgeable soul please answer.

    Thanks in anticipation,

    • Anthony Fernandez Anthony Fernandez says:

The films will be available from the start date, for the following 5 days. A schedule is sent out by PFC way in advance. Let’s say each day hosts 10 films. So on day 1 you can view only those 10 films for that day. On day 2, you can view the 10 films from the previous day along with today’s 10 films (thats 20 films now).
This holds true for all 5 days. So by the end of the 5th day, you can view all 50 films.
After the competition, the films are available in PFC Archives. This is how it was done for the past 2 years. Correct me if I am wriong :)

Wow. 212 entries is pretty good!

May my film “The Broken Friend” win :D

It’s been a eye-opening experience. Oz, why don’t we have a series on the learning experiences of the filmmakers?

For example-I thought I was done with the editing and decided to check out the sound through a good pair of headphones (instead of using speakers since it was night, I wanted to avoid disturbing my neighbours). I was shocked with the audio that I had heard.

There were unintended light beeps, the ambience sounded inconsistent (they were shot on two different nights in ‘dead’ silence), some audio effects that I had upped to increase foley sounds were producing a lot of noise. Finally when I fixed the sound I truly realised how important sound is.

This is not to say there were no other flaws, but sound unintentionally was the most ignored aspect.

Even at the script level, I tried to come up with a socially-conscious story. I tried various things and it was so unconvincing and fake. Finally I woke up one morning with a revenge tale, that my conscious self would never seek to do. It required some soul-searching to accept that about my self :D

A lot of such experiences can be really useful.

Here’s a brilliant resource for filmmakers like us. Check it out.

  96. @arati, i too have been thinking for some time about what it takes to make a really bad movie, yet stay in people’s memories forever.
While making it, did the makers know that they are making ‘too-bad-its too-good’ kind of masterpiece… Can one deliberately make a bad movie of the sort Jani Dushman / Deshdrohi / Gunda / Clerk.. or is that in itself requires some sort of skill not found in everyone?
I’m thinking, wouldn’t it be great if we also have a ‘bad movie’ competition, where participants compete for the worst ever presentation of a story..

    hi,
Thanks friends. I have two movies :
    1) Some evenings are still spent with you: The title says it all. Basically I was wondering when does a person get totally wiped out? When he dies ? Not really as we live as much in eachother than in our own body. Also I wanted to experiment with showing emotions and creating a mood by avoiding to show any actor’s face (also since i myself acted and I didn’t want to show my face).
    2) There are 64 of us: It is on the lines of on-your-face viral videos today. Actually I am trying to experiment with what viral videos are? Which ones get popular. Right now cheap thrill sensational ones get popular rather than really artistic ones (That is my current hypothesis – please do correct me if I am wrong). That’s how I have shot this and I foresee web as the next big mode of video distribution so am trying to figure out the initial audience.

i was actually down with bad dengue fever and home bound and came across this competition and in enthu have managed to shoot. I fell sick the next day itself. But nonetheless it a very satisfactory experience. Very few joys in the world can match the joy of making a film.

Regarding the worst movie ones. It takes lots of efforts to even make a bad movie. There is this thing called post modern art where you are aware that the viewer is aware that they are watching a movie. Farah Khan exploits it to the hilt and people enjoy it. Even in hollywood Kubrick (see opening shot of Clockwork orange), Scary movies employ that too. They are done in full awareness. Andaz apna apna is another – which is a very well crafted post mordern movie making use of all cliches and archetypes. Incase of jaani dushman or Gunda I don’t think they were aware that they were arbitrary. They were done in all honesty. Yeh bhi daaltein hai..matrix bhi daltein hai, terminator bhi daaltein hai, naagin bhi daaltein..one very fertile mind I must say. The appreciation and humour was accidental but it was a good accident for them and for us too :) .

    • Can’t really say if making viewers aware regarding ‘it’s a movie’ has anything to do with the good or bad quality of a movie… remember a couple of good moments, my favorite one comes from Flavors, with 3 unemployed men guzzling beer and thinking about ‘a great idea’, and one of their idea is to make a movie about the lives of 3 s/w programmers on bench.
But who will pay to watch a movie about 3 software programmers on bench?
at that point, the three directly look at the camera reminding the audience what they already did.
