Ok, Amitabh is friends with Amar Singh! He travels often to UP, he starts a school there. But for god sake, pray tell me, how is he against Maharashtrians in all this?
According to Rediff reports on Amitabh’s heart being in UP by Raj.
“Though he has become a star in Mumbai, his interest is in Uttar Pradesh. That is why he was trying to be an ambassador of UP rather than Maharashtra,” Thackeray said at a function in Dharavi on Friday night.
So his heart is in UP just because he is felicitated there and decides to do something for the state inspite of being a mumbaikar for the best part of his life?
What is difficult to comprehend is, how can Raj forget all that he has done for Maharashtra in times of its crisis over the years. Here’s what his make-up man for more than three-decades has to say about the superstar.
“Amitji is a very nice human being. He has never indulged in casteism. He has helped several Maharastrians and has attended Marathi drama and cultural events,” Sawant said.Around eight to 10 Marathi people work at the Bachchan home, he added.
Among all this, the funny man of Indian politics jumped in to say his few words, well, more like one-big word – Anti Social. Hindu reports on Lalu’s remarks as

Allrite guys, that was formal. My take, this is shite… Look at the revenue Maharashtra generates from these so called Non-Maharashtrian film-stars. All the taxes, all the tourists, hell all the glitz, glamor and business.
In this day of communication, how does it matter who stays where. I am not so sure of schools and charity and all that, but regionalism comes from where you relate too and take these stars away from mumbai, i am sure they will be like fish out of water.
I remember same the thing happening in Bangalore and its even the same in Hyderabad too will all the MNC’s coming in and bringing a lot of North Indians to the south. And for me, the best part is all these places are developing like hell. Mumbai/Hyderabad/Bangalore have become true cosmopolitans be it in food, style, living or culture and that’s the way it should be. Regionalism justs breeds hatred… can’t we unify as one?

@ axw11, not sure how I am bringing regionalism by quoting taxes. I may be missing some ultra brainy socio-economic-political angle here but nevertheless, I think I was referring to Non-Tangible benefits and that includes to the nation as well.
Anyways, the point more so has to do with why do we need to ask anybody – politicians, people alike as to where they stay. Who is anybody to judge where anyone wishes to stay. Firstly the society is unforgiving as it is, now regional restrictions will only make the exodus more common.

Chandigarh, Feb 6 (IANS) True to his satirical ways – even on the sensitive issue of north Indians versus Marathis playing out in Mumbai – comedian Jaspal Bhatti says he will soon organise a “Divide India” film festival here.”I want to invite Raj Thackeray to inaugurate this ‘Divide India’ film festival given all that he has done to divide communities in Mumbai in recent days,” Bhatti said after doing a skit in Chandigarh’s busy commercial hub of Sector 17 here Tuesday.

hatti, popular for his satirical skits like “Ulta-Pulta” and “Flop Show” on television which take up social issues, said people in the country need not be divided on the lines of films alone but also on the basis of food, clothing and other things.
“I demand that the film censor board be immediately disbanded and divisive politicians be put on this board. Instead of ‘A’ (adult) and ‘U’ (universal) certification, the certification should be based on language, state and region like ‘M’ for Marathi, ‘P’ for Punjabi, etc. ,” Bhatti said.
Bhatti added that films of one state or language should not be allowed in any other state and if anyone from a particular state watches a film from another place, he should be jailed.
The comedian said students of his MAD Arts School would plan the “Divide India” film festival in the near future.
Bhatti’s new idea comes in the wake of Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena engaging in a campaign against north Indians in Maharashtra.

Bangalore conditions also not so good,here autowallah always use to misbehave with north indians with some punch lines “tum hindi wala”,”kannada janam bhumi” etc.One police wala told us that north Indians are “criminal minded” because my room mates was making noise on “india cricket victory” and our neighborers complained about it,Highlight of this case was that police wala took 2000 RS as bribe from us.

Labelling Mumbai as biased and Raj Thackeray as a regionalist is not right. He is only asking for respect to the language. Just for example,if you travel down to South India, namel TN, if you dont speak in Tamil, you wont be spoken to at all. If people can accept that why not the same in Mumbai?
