RANG MANANCHE – Marathi Film

Shibbu and Amit are like any other just out of college kids. Still visit their college. Hang out. Play cricket, talk about their college theatre days….joke around…meanwhile also wrote a film, shot it on a shoe string budget and got it released in Pune and other towns in Maharashtra.
“Rang Mananche” is the first time effort of these two budding film makers. An adaptation of a short story written by V.P Kale.
Synopsis-
Independent, fun-loving and passionate Anirudhs (Sachit Patil) life was almost perfect. On the verge of marrying his college sweet heart Sanjyot (Mrunmayee Godbole), he is prepared to embark on a new journey.
But everything comes to a halt when Anirudh is diagnosed with Cancer. The family and friends that considered him their pride begin to think of him as a burden. It is at this time he finds solace with a nurse working at the hospital, Sister Urmila (Chinmayee Sumit)
Rang Mananche traces the emotional journey of a man who knows he is approaching his death and leaves us with the haunting question; who do we really consider our own?

Amit and Shibbu were actually college rivals. Shibbu from Ruia and Amit representing MD College in the inter collegiate theater circuit.
Both trying to out do each other in writing, direction and even acting.
Then became friends later and directed each other in plays…taking turns…. but both ironically never won anything major in terms of awards for their direction and they always wanted to make film.
Amit got married early. He was to become a father. Both had big dreams and searched for stable jobs.
ONE FINE DAY – Out of the BLUE
They decided to make a film…Amit quit his job…Shibbu was into composing music for plays and some Marathi films. Both cut all options to do what they always wanted to do.
By 2007 they had a script…nothing materialized.
If you want something bad…the universe conspires….cliched…but True.
They met someone who had some funds wanting to produce a film….
They had directed a play based on a short story by V.P.Kale. They adapted it for stage quite successful….now they had to do it for the big screen.
Completed The script in 2 weeks….a couple of drafts in the following week. Some casting rounds and they were on floor within 2 months of all this. A tight 18 day schedule at a hospital in Kolhapur and here we are.
DOP Pradeep Khanvilkar as you can see in the trailer has done a fabulous job within the given constraints and budgets.
Shibbu and Amit inspire me to leave all this high handed mumbo jumbo and get going with a script and make a film.
