wb | Movies | December 10, 2008 at 3:04 pm
so, who are the best non-human actors you love?
listing out my faves below.
Kung Fu Panda – A big bouncy bundle of pure awesomeness.
E.T – He looks like a giant piece of galactic turd. But what a heart!
Yoda – Looks like a booger, he does. Handy with light saber, he is.
Nemo – I loved him so much that I moved to a place close to the great barrier reef… need I say more?
Scrat (Ice Age) – He’s nuts for nuts.
Alvin – Who doesn’t love a singing chipmunk?
Genie* (Aladdin) – a nightclub entertainer, a Scotsman, a Scottish terrier, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ed Sullivan, a slot machine, Groucho Marx, a boxing trainer, a fireworks rocket, a French ma'®tre d’, a roast turkey, a pink rabbit, a dragon, a certificate, a pair of lips, Robert De Niro, a flight attendant, Carol Channing, a sheep, a hammock, a muscle man, Pinocchio, a magician, a Frenchman in a beret and striped shirt, a chef, Julius Caesar, Arsenio Hall, a tailor, a gameshow host, a drum major, Walter Brennan, a little boy, a fat man, TV parade hosts, a tiger, a goat, a harem girl, Ethel Merman, Rodney Dangerfield, Jack Nicholson, a teacher, a talking lampshade, a bee, a submarine, a oneman band, a script prompter, a ventriloquist, a Fantasia (1940)-like devil, William F. Buckley, Jafar, cheerleaders, a baseball pitcher, a tourist with a Goofy hat, a zombie… and the moon – All in one!!
Mr.Incredible – a typical middle aged husband, a dad, an overstressed worker, a super hero. aren’t we all?
Buzz Lightyear – In the movie that started it all, he is the one who caused it all. And it helps to look like George Clooney, kinda.
Gollum – a rhesus monkey! my precious!
(* details from IMDB).

Dumbo (for cuteness)
Shere Khan (for the way he was drawn/animated by Milt Kahl)
Eric Cartman (for being the biggest asshole)
Tom N Jerry (wat 2 say?)
now i understand
gremlins – cute, cuddly, and they have an appetite for destruction. what’s not to like.
one of the most inane posts of pfc
@ Genie! = so many roles, one voice!! ROBIN WILLIAMS!!! :D
axw11: shere khan rules. but eric cartman, how did i forget him?? he is totally wicked!!
dabba: gremlins, yes. it’s the right time of the year too.
Abhay k: glad you noticed
32: spot on! and robbie improvised most of the lines. wonder what it would have been like had tim burton gone ahead and made his batman with rob playing the riddler. sigh!
WALL-E!
Donkey from shrek …
“YODA” is for me out the mention one above,
(only from “Empire strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”)
“May the Force be with you!!!”
Jahan – Almost all the pixar beings are cool. But yes, this one’s special.
Anand – I personally find the donkey a bit loud – but guess that’s the idea.
Shekhar Shimpi – Thanks! For.. “my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is.”
kabootar from maine pyar kiya
papaji – lol! good one! btw, had subrat been here he’d have listed out a string of icchadhari naag movies and a couple of dog movies from 80’s.
dog from hum aapke hain kaun
dog from teri meherbaaniyaan
Moti The Dog in Tere Meherbaaniyan, Mard
All dogs, monkeys, snakes, tigers, horses, elephants which r much smarter than hero-heroine in countless masala potboilers of 70’s and 80’s.
The baby elephant in Hatari.
The Lone rhino in that famous hunting scene in Hatari.
All of Jim Carrey’s Pets in Ace Ventura-Pet Detective.
Sher Khan, Bagheera, Col Haathi, Baalo- Jungle Book
Simba’s friends in The Lion King-Pumba(Warthog) and the meerkats.
The Pelican in Finding Nemo.
All the fishes in the aquarium in Finding Nemo.
I think, for me, Moti the Labrador from Teri Meherbaaniyaan is the best
. After all, he acted better than all actors combined in that movie
. Plus, we saw him in every alternate Chitrahar
@Ratnakar – Just some trivia. Did you know that the rhino in Hatari had actually hurt the guy? (Depending on the version of Hatari you’ve seen, the accident is shown or cut) This is something my grandfather told me. He used to work for Paramount pictures.
Debashri, well i saw Hatari first as a kid, then i later saw it on DVD, and again i later showed it to my daughters, who really enjoyed it. I think the DVD version, i seen the accident part. So ur grandpa used to work for Paramount, wow, thats something i wud die for.
Oh yeah one more favorite of mine, Kiki, the Killer Whale in Free Willy.
Jim Carrey’s pet dog in The Mask, really kick ass.
The Dog in the James Belushi starrer K-9.
Practically love most of the Doggie movies, guess coz am a bit of a Dog lover myself.
@ Ratnakar – I am a dog lover myself and shy away from watching any movie that shows a dog as hurt or worse (especially if the doggie is an Alsatian, since I had two of them). But I loved Eight Below, though I could kill the people who left those dogs behind in Antarctica.
Love all the Dogs in 101 Dalmations. Not just the Dalmations, even the other dogs who help them out. That scene where dogs send a signal from one to another was howlarious. I love the animated version, dont like the movie version.
And has any seen Beethoven here? About a St.Bernard getting accepted into a family, it was a real charmer for me.
Actually there was an old Dharam Paaji movie Maa way back in the 70’s, i think by Devar Movies. It was entertaining all the way, but loved the character of the Mother Elephant, searching for her Baby Elephant, abducted by some hunters. There is a really good scene, in it, when the Baby Elephant falls into a pit, and all the other Elephants try their best to pull it out.
@ Ratnakar
That movie of Dharam Paaji was Maa.I think it was also remade as Annai Oru Aalayam in tamil with Rajnikanth
All above mentioned pets are good and perfect in their jobs. But these pets need some more training.. they make u puke whenever u see them on screen – tushaar kapoor, krishan kumar, uday chopda, himesh reshmaiyaa .. :D :D :D
