SAAFA Presents (TENTATIVE) Screening of Black Friday-LA, SF

Hi Folks,
Yes, yes the title is long, but cannot help it. Since Black Friday appears to be the flavor of this group am making a TENTATIVE announcement (reason I am bringing it up here before any other group is because of the Passion For Black Friday here and also so that folks can plan their schedule)
SAAFA in conjunction with ADLABS presents a PREVIEW screening of Black Friday in San Francisco Bay Area (actually San Jose) and Los Angeles. The TENTATIVE (dependent on the print and theater availability) dates are:
Wednesday – Feb 7th in LA (in the Valley)
Thursday – Feb 8th in San Jose
Timings will probably be post 8:00 pm
This is primarily a press screening and only press will be allowed in free (sorry website contributors don’t fall in that). I am pretty agressive about press and unless you work for Variety or Hollywood Reporter, you will not qualify. Desi press defintely will not qualify (say what you have to, I am indifferent).
For the others the ticket prices will be $6:00 as opposed to the regular price of $8:00 and before any accusing finger points itself at me, the entire proceed will be collected and belongs to ADLABS and not SAAFA. We are only organizing the screening and our role is to do these screenings to encourage quality Indian cinema.
Will send the final announcement to this group in a day or two confirming exact time and date. Purpose of this announcement is to make sure that you mark it on your calendar.
See the film which is about an event no Mumbaikar can ever forget, why no Indian, no human can ever forget.
Don’t see it because Shekhar Kapur says, cause he is full of crap
Don’t see it because it has hype, cause hype is just that
DO see it becasue it was about time this subject made it’s way into a film
DO see it because the new Bollywood has changed and much that I like Yash Raj and Karan Johar films (and will continue to love those), this is a brave new frontier in Indian filmmaking.
In case Anuraag would be open to a telephonic/e-mail interview in relation to the film, please let us know since we are planning to cover the review in the mainstream Embarcadero Group of publications (second largest print and media group in the Bay Area after Knight Ridder)
This posting will be going out to the other groups including SAAFA, but PFC get’s it first becasue of it’s link with Anuraag and this film. So in case you guys are interested in attending mark it on your calendar right away and be there since we are not doing any RSVP’s or pre show tickets, everything will be on a first come first serve basis.
Sincerely,
Vivek “some films and some subjects just have to be made for the good of humankind” Kumar
