Shahrukh Khan Successor of AB in KBC?
Shahrukh Khan hosting KBC for two seasons? If we believe Rediff.com then Amitabh Bachchan has denied to further hosting KBC and Star TV has been in touch with Shahrukh Khan to host the most popular TV game show of India. If its true then whats there in luck of SRK?
Remember Kofee with karan’s season finale, Karan Johar asks SRK, what is the thing Mr Bachchan has and Shahrukh wishes to have it? SRK promptly replies” KBC” and now he gets it!!!!
Is SRK daring? Just few days ago I had read that AB has said perhaps in UK that he would be hosting remaining few episodes of KBC. He was hosting second inning of KBC till February 2006 and he had stopped shooting for KBC because of his illness in December 2005. And now SRK has to replace AB in KBC. During KBC 1, several attempts were done by different TV channels to bring similar game shows on their channel which were having Anupam Kher, Manisha Koirala, Govinda, Shekhar Suman, Aman Verma, Ashutosh Rana, Manoj Bajpai etc but none could create the magic Mr Bachchan was able to create. Madhur Dixit tried in a TV show and was failed, Karishma Kapoor came and failed.
Can SRK do this? Can he bring something of his own so that people like KBC with that much affinity as they were watching when AB was hosting it? Can SRK add something more to this legendary game show? or he would be fighting to match the level AB has set? Will it be like remake of “DON”? where he looks like he is doing very hard to match AB’s original doings.
Its not easy thing to take over something from Amitabh Bachchan and do it in a way that people equally love new effort of same act. SRK is brave as its not easy to accept this offer. Or As Salman Khan recently said that SRK will do anything and everything to remain on top as he is the only earning member of his family and he will do hard work to maintain his numero uno position.
No Doubt in current lot of young super stars only SRK is the only person who has all the requirements to host a show on TV seen by millions of viewers and where host has to interact with audience in very friendly manner. He looks lively and intelligent on TV shows. He has skills to talk continuoulsy and extempore. He is not less popular than AB in India and world and he earned the place in the genre of Super stars. Will people go equally crazy when meets him on set of KBC as they were going with AB? Will he be same charismatic person. because AB’s was the first chance to meet common man on a TV show. and SRK has done this before also on NDTV etc. He started his career from TV and he has been appearing in different interviews also on TV.
If anybodyelse was going to host KBC then perhaps it was not going to be digestible easily for people but SRK surely crosses that level where people wont feel any anti-feeling about his hosting the show. SRK’s inclusion is defintely a clever move from STR TV.
Lets wait and watch what SRK does this time.
But comparsions are going to happen and SRK cant avoid it. Amitabh was seen first timke on TV and a whole generation had been growing up watching his films and for them he had been like god of films. There had been a hunger to see more and more Amitabh and KBC fulfilled that demand. Now AB was in our houses. People of every age were loving him on KBC and KBC junior made him popular in kids also. He has been termed as a serius man by media and on KBC people were watching him making jokes with contestents, teasing kids and spreading the charishma of his magnetic personality.
AB was always a man while SRK has not obtained that status yet because he is still a lover boy though he has done many different roles but his screen image is not of a matured man though in real life he looks much more intelligent than his screen roles.
This will be first time when he has got a chance to open and show multifacted personality. Task is tough but his intelligence and hard working habit may given him adequate support. Again remember season fanale of KWK, when AB was asked about his take on appearing in Advertisements. AB gave his answers but it was SRK’s views AB listened with much admiration. His gestures were like” OK these are things I should have spoken”. He was listening SRK with deep concentration, bending outside and when SRK was finished AB’s whole body was in full agreement with what SRK had advocated in support of AB’s doing advertisements and AB left his body relaxed with a deep breath. SRK needs to bring this touch of his own intelligence to KBC to make it his own show different than KBC of AB.
If SRK maintains his originality then he has enough chances to present KBC with his own flavour but if he just tries to maintain level of AB then it can be ardous and risky business for him. SRK did double role in Duplicate without bothering about anybodyelse’s double roles and he gave performance which was his own and he was successful in both the roles but in “Don” he weas under pressure to look different than AB and yet maintain the standard AB had maintained in original Don.
SRK of “Duplicate” is needed here and not SRK of “Don”.

AB was very restpectful of the players of KBC…i have my reservations on SRK. AB has a huge ” i respect you” following..which SRK doesnt…But, i would still like to see SRK on KBC and see what different can he bring…Not to forget we all fell in love with him in Fauji…he does have a knack with the camera which might be unparalled…infact i feel he makes love with the camera!!!!!
Shahrukh Khan is a born superstar, and despite all the criticism about his non-acting (Swades excluded) and repetitiveness, what makes the man popular is his charm. A charm that is drastically different from that of Amitabh Bachchan. As OM said, AB has a charm that demands respect from his awestruck admirers. He is larger than life. When common people met him on KBC, they were elated, but at the same time knew how to hold back their excitement and behave – This was the classy Amitabh Bachchan after all. You wouldn’t want to make a fool of yourself in front of him. SRK on the other hand has charm that makes him a lot more accessible. One that is friendly, down-to-earth, very human. And this characteristic is precisely what will make him successful in a show like KBC. On this show, SRK’s affinity for the camera will be of absolutely NO help. The camera will simply be a silent eye, as the real challenge will lie in dealing with the contestants. No matter how much you prep them, when they meet SRK, their excitement will be uncontrollable. Doubly so because his persona is not as restricting as AB’s. People may feel he is a part of their lives, that they can be themselves in front of him, that they can afford to be as crazy as he is. KBC could use that energy, but SRK needs to face the challenge of balancing that factor with the fact that he needs to put up a fluid trivia show.
SRK is far more intelligent, has a great sense of humor, is very practical and does extremely well based on instinct. AB is always monotonous. Pick any print or tv interview and you will notice the difference. Like AB, SRK is also very down to earth and humble. When compared, SRK brings lot more to the table.

Guys its right that AB never appeared on TV before and there was no cable TV in his supreme days. He was always The Amitabh Bachchan whose father was a famous poet, author. Their friendship(till 1998) with Nehru Gandhi family was known all over India and they were like class apart. Though AB took time in settling down in films but when he settled then his fame was added to combined status of his known family and now people dont feel that he was like a unknown struggler in film industry 30 years ago. People have been knowing a mythological Amitabh whose screen image was always of larger than life. He has magnetic and charming personality and when he appeared on TV, he had earned a huge reputation and he was in his entering his 60th year of age and he had become father in law and perhaps grand father also. Except exceptions we never find anybody taking liberty from AB while on set of KBC and audience and contestents were instructed by Star TV, how to behave with AB and what are the limits though in KBC 2 they gave more freedom to contestents.
If we compare SRK’s 40 year age with AB’s 40 year age then SRK is more defined in the yes of audience as we daily see him on TV either in commercial, cinema or interviews. We know what he thinks, how he thinks, how he reacts in certain conditions or questions. His views about cinema, social life, political, financial areas come before audience and unlike AB who normally does not believe in expressing his own views in public, SRK talks for minutes on any subject given to him. AB is truely introvert and SRK repits he is shy but his appearance does not suggest it. SRK has made his image of intelligent person given his age.HE is better manager than AB, he is very clear about his priorities, his financial aims etc and we were not knowing what AB was thinking at the age of 40.
No doubt SRK’s luck is also better than AB’s. I would not say AB is monotoneous only thing is he came late on TV and as he famously said to Abhishek once” you shd remember which family you belong”. He knows his family status and he is very traditional in his approach and its not very easy for him to come out of that shell. May be very few close friends know who is reall AB. Waiting eagerly for his brother Ajitabh’s book on Amitabh.
SRK is not a superstar at all. Only Rajesh Khanna is the superstar of India. No actor can be compared with him, he is a great actor and the real superstar till today.
For KBC best suited star will be the superstar Rajesh Khanna
I think the show itself plays a big part in the fame and poularity. It’s a good family show which all can take part in, to be honest any star with some charisma could’ve hosted this show but since it was always AB they now need someone who is equally popular and off a different era.
SRK does in my opinion make a good choice, he is popular and his anchoring skills aren’t too bad so i can see him being a sucess.
Rashmi, Vinod Kumar:
He is almost retired. he did some serials also but they did not make any impression. Heard that he was back in to acting in a film with Zeenat Aman.
Rajesh Khanna was super star for 3-5 years in early years of decade of 70.
His specific kind of acting sytle is suiatble in present days films?

They always come with this idea of putting up Rajesh Khanna for roles which even he would not like to do as he belongs to different kind of roles:)
Will some one make a full post on Rajesh Khanna? He has great contribution to hindi cinema. His Aradhana turned the scene in hindi cinema and acting amd music did not remain same later. Rajesh Khanna is responsible to give due credit to our Pancham Da. I love both of them:)
