Shooting at VT- I

This was going to be an experience that would make an interseting blogg for sure! We were to shoot at the landmark VT station and we were going to shoot for a marathon 17 hours!!

I had decided that the first thing that’ll require attention was my health- on the day i had vowed to intake less of slid food and drink more fluids. Until the day before the shoot i was mentally prpared and excited but….

On the evening before the shoot i had temperature and sore throat….rushed to the doctor and pleaded for some strong antibiotics…doctor refused…he said u needed rest and a disciplined life style…i knew he would freak out if i tell him my work plans for the next 24 hours. I came home with some medicines and got back to home made- age old remedies. Hot water gragling-milk with haldi and sleep.

I was up at 5 in the morning and left home at 5.30. I was at VT station at 7. It was also the day of “mega block” and since i stay at borivli, a normally simple journey was a little curvy!

The unit was getting together man-by-man! There was some excitement definately. very close to us the unit of “Das Kahaniya” was getting assembled, they were to shoot for the story directed by Rohit Roy.

Our DOP- Mr. Anshuman Mahaley and a few of his men had gathered at the station since 4 in the morning! They had to cover most of the station lights with some gel. So they were already 3 hours ahead in terms of working day!

We had to take a shot from capitol cinema- the theater across VT station and went there to check out the location. Our lead and another actor changed there itself. We had planned to keep it discreet and Muzamil and Abhay(the other actor) casually walked across the street and sat in a car parked outside the station.

The sequence required them to walk through the station(VT Station), we wanted the natural crowd but we did not want the crowd to know about us!

The director too had to abstain from being at this shoot as we had our action master on the set and besides our director would attract more crowd than our lead actor!

All was controlled until the camera was placed on the road.

Welcome to Mumbai- the city where no one has any time! bull shit…there were 100 people just to gaze at the camera- no actors- no activity, just a camera and people were getting accumlated like ants from all sides!

Oh! ofcourse we had copped who were officially and unofficially taken care of to make sure the crowd does not gather- they were however conveniently missing!

My misery was my throat that was going bad per every spoken line and i knew if i needed anything today they were strong vocal chords- so at 8.45 a.m., with a(UNWANTED) crowd of 100, and another 17 hours of work ahead we were ready to roll….

I love your stories, but they are a tease!!! Write longer ones, your stories are like a serial that cuts off at the good parts and leaves you wanting more…
