SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA-MY VERDICT

There is lots of discussion and arguments going about SAL. Some liked, some disliked. Finally I watched it to realize comments given by our PFC guys. Below is my opinion about the film. This is the review that I sent to my friends which are not passionate about cinema as we are. I have to review the film in simple language not too technical.
SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA
Director: Apoorva Lakhiya
Overall Grading: B+
Shoot out at Lokhandwala is a movie which tells the story of gangsters who were killed in a shootout in 1991 at Lokhandwala complex.
Produced by Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Gupta and Balaji motion pictures, it has some good point as well as minus points.
This is director Apurva Lakhiya’s third film after Mumbai se aaya mera dost (2003), Ek Ajnabee(2005)( Copy of english “Man on fire”). SAL is better than his previous movies but not a great movie.
Performance wise Sanjay Dutt is good. Sunil Shetty and Vivek oberoi are tolerable. Tushar kapoor aur Arbaaz khan ko acting school me phir se admission lena chahiye. Shabbir Aholoowaliya, Aditya lakhiya, diya mirza, Aarti chhabariya and Neha dhupiya are just for filling the blank spaces. Amitabh Bachchan is totally wasted. Why he is doing such faltoo roles?
Story achchi hai par side tracks (police waalo ki family life) ki wajah se concentration toot jaata hai. Abhishek bachchan ke side track ki kya zaroorat thi woh samaj me nahi aata?
The biggest plus point is sleek editing by Bunty Nagi. Story kai baar side tracks par chali jaati hai par thanks to superb editing ke public bor nahi ho jaati. Dialogues are average. Action achha hai.
Script par research kam kiya lagta hai. Ek scene me back graound me Tata Indigo car dikhayi deit hai. Are bhai 1991 me Indigo kahaa se aa gayi jab Zen ke bhi vaandhe the? Actors ke costumes bhi 1991 ke hissab se nahi hai. “Aye ganpat “ song me Bipasa ka naam liya gaya hai. in 1991, perhaps she may be in school.
Kai scenes me lagta his ki gangsters ko jyaada glamorized kiya gaya hai. Vivek Oberoi to action scenes me bhi hasta rahta hai. Producers claims that this film is based on true events and true characters. Kya koi gangster kisiko maarte waqt serious nahi hota.? Sab haste hi rehta hai.
Back ground music (Amar Mohile) is good. Ek ghante tak achcha lagta hai par itna loud hai ki phir sar dukhne lagta hai. Songs( Anand Raaj Anand) are below average and totally misplaced. “aye Ganpat chal daroo laa” is worst song of this year.
Apoorva lakhiya ki previous films “Mumbai se aaya mera dost” me Lagaan ki chhap thi, Ek Ajnabee to “Man On Fire” ki frame to frame copy thi, par is baar kuchh original karke jyaada style aur less substance waali film banayi hai.
Koolmilake, SAL is an average movie jise achhi lage iske uske liye achhi hai par family audience ke liye kuchh nahi hai.

shootout at lokhandwala has one of the worst cinematography , samah mein nahi aaya ki itne bekar camera work kyon kara gaya when it have two production house…
tushhar kapoor should be ban from acting has he still doesnot know how to infact stand in front of the camera , he should infact join some atleast 5 years acting course..or he may start acting in k serials on tv…
suniel shetty also should try to do some acting instead of adjusting collars in every scene…
and last apoorva should stop making movies on TRUE RUMOURS…
and yes mr.shailesh you can become a good critic , which our film industry are lacking…
I liked some of your observations like about bipasha song and the Indigo in the bg.

this film is awesome… though i agree with tushar and arbaaz acting.. but the director had worked hard.. and the acting in lead role of sanjay was superb… overall i rate 4 out of 5 … this is good to know abt incident.. now u all only tell .. did u know abt the incident in past… and when the directors are making such movie.. try to learn something… instead of blaming… they have far more understand thats y they are there and we r watching thier movie… i totally aggre with ur comments … thanks.. for the observation..
shootout was da worst film iv ever watched..no apoorva lakhia movies 4 me now..
wat the hell was rakhi sawant doin?? i left the theatre den n there…how can she play herself in 1991..WTF!! she wasnt even 10yrs old den..apoorva lakhia has lost it..creativity is being taken for granted here guyss..
n bipasha’s name in “aye ganpat” ..bullshit..
moreover the movie looked like it was sponsored by rayban glasses..why does every1 has 2wear those rayban aviators, 90’s style, jus 2 show the movie is bases in the early 90’s..cant they think of somethng else???
tushar’s bhaigiri was 2 fake..cant pull it off 1 li’l bit..vivek was overdoing it..
i think shootout was a great movie but some people like suneel shetty must stop doing movies now
