SoCal Independent Film Festival

It seems self-serving to me that my first post here is about the film festival that I am working on, but one of the reasons that I am involved with the film festival is my love of film, especially short, foreign, and independent films. The Director of the SoCal Festival wanted to create a festival that focused on the filmmakers, and to offer them an event that would expose them to distributors, producers and fans that share a love of independent film, and based on the press, industry interest, and the number of submissions that were received this year, it is a large community that shares our passion.

I have two future posts in my head that I will prepare regarding the festival; the first will be an account of the festival itself, the second about just how passionate, creative, and crazy a person has to be to put on a film festival. When you attend a well run festival it looks as if someone just rented a space, displayed some films, and invited people to spend some time, but, like so many things in life, there is so much more that happens behind the scenes to put on an event like this….

Here is a preview of the festival in the OC Weekly, our local independent weekly. Below is your invitation to the festival, if you live in or will be visiting Southern California this week.

Is there any discount/freebies for PFC readers at the film festival? :d

Anyone who is interested can contact me beforehand and I will see what I can arrange. More than likely I will be managing ticket sales for most of the event, so if anyone will be coming, be sure to say hello!

Some of the programs are free programs so that the festival is accessable to everyone!

Of course, Oz already has an all access pass and a ticket for the Closing Award Banquet on Sunday!

    - Guys, T is neck deep in managing the festival from Wednesday onwards until Sunday. She’s promised me that she will have a neat coverage of the festival for PFC after the closing ceremony. Meanwhile if I get time from my busy schedule I’ll be spending a few hours on Saturday and Sunday at the festival and “interviewing” a few at the Festival “if” I get the chance.
