PFC is not simply a sheltered place for few people who like films and here they can share their views. On generalization it looks like this only. It is not yet 1 year old but it has gained certain specificities which make it special in some respects.
Its hard to find a place on internet where cine lovers, writers, active film directors, reviewers and people having certain knowledge about different facets of film making, have been gathered.
Most of the people in the author lists are highly educated. They are graduates, post graduates and few may be even PhDs and majority of them have got degrees in Engineering, Medical, Management, Mass Communication, Science and other subjects. So their intellect level is obvious and vareity of background is guaranteed.
Authors live in different part of the world. Many have travelled extensively across the globe. They have seen different cultures by their own eyes and their experience is not limited and is not based entirely on the basis of the books they have read or films they have seen. They have seen people of different countries and cultures in the real life and this make a lot of difference in their understanding.
Living in different land with different kind of people, brings something new before us which we never can see in our home land. Its very easy to define things on the basis of limited knowledge and experience we gather by making us limited in a place but when we come across different people and hence different situations then we are exposed to new things which we would not have otherwise got to know. This international kind of experience makes PFC very specific forum.
If we concentrate on Indian Cinema only then also we have authors coming from different states of India who speak different mother tongues. They have different upbringings. Their habits are different and then most of them live away from their country.
Its seen that even within the country those who travel more and meet with different people, they develop different kind of experiences and wisdom. So when people meet other people daily belonging to different countries and cultures and share their views and know about their traditions, history etc, then it enriches the exposure of these people.
When people with such background see the films then this seeing is not seeing of a person, living in Delhi or any other city of India whole his life. These people may not be great writers, great critics or analysts but they can see different things in a film. They can see film by putting the film on different stake.
Hardly any author on the PFC is professional cine critic or analyst who earns his bread and butter from the writing on the films. People here have daily office work and they also have project dead lines. They also face ups and downs in their career. They also face ups and downs in personal lives as professional cine writers go. But this amateurish gang of people devote so many hours in watching the films, discussing about films. For non-professional writers, it takes energy, time and lots of conviction to write an article.
But they like it so they write.
Many or may be all present here on PFC have this hidden or obvious desire to be associated with the films some day/one day.
PFC is not prototype gathering of prototype film journalists and critics. People here have different kind of expertise and hence their perspectives can be different and they are different. If film makers and film industry don’t take it as hostile site against them then they also can be benefited from this site. Here we find people watching cinema from different part of the world and this this brings a broad spectrum. Reference levels are more here.
Many film viewers here can see those things in their films which they never expect anybody in masses or in the crowd of biased critics can ever see or even if they see they wont quote it. Here one can see a neutral and utterly honest analysis which though at times can be bitterly truthful. But what a creative person need? A truthful evaluation about his creation.
PFC provides that kind of space !
And presence of film makers provides the arrangement where mutual growth is the possible factor! Its not one way traffic. No creative person in world will deny from the happiness which he gets when someone searches the same thing in his creation which he had kept in it.
There is a story that during the editing of Pakizaah, Kamaal Amarohi was advised to cut the scene in the climax where younger Meena Kumari is leaving the brothel after marriage with Raaj Kumar and one young girl watches this while standing taking resort of the pillar inside the brothel building. Kamaal Amarohi, said that its possible that someone may understand what I have thought about this scene.
Film was released and after a year or so, one cine lover from small city of U.P, wrote to Kamaal saab that if he can get the photo of that girl in that particular scene. According to that man, she was the real Pakizaah.
Kamaal saab became very happy that atleast one person in the country got the right message with which he had kept this scene in the film.

one thing that drives me to post my views here is honesty and passion shared by other members
to tell the truth, at first I was intimidated to actually participate in the discussions where accomplished persons are voicing their opinions, but then the interface and topics are so tempting and inviting that no one who would like to appreciate good works wl back-out…
and jai.. here’s hoping you (and others like you) keep coming back!
>-
thanks striker-:
and i came back after lunch and posting in OM’s thread about anish’s confessions..

Phoenixnu:
So words most of the time fail me. I mean words have become like those bullets which dont hit the target and hit something wrong. What I have written has hardly anything to do with Oz. Its not related to past of PFC, how it was formed and who formed. Its more related to its present and perhaps to future also to some extent.
Mission is not often but always bigger than the individual/s but surely initiative and progress cant be overlooked.
We have interacted so much? Have we?
When?
our words might have interacted with each other some time.To know, in that sense which you are talking, we will have to meet in person. and lets see when it happens.:)
Jai: Bhaiya feel free to participate in the discussion. Barring actual film makers nobody is accomplished here. Hum Sab saath saath hain:)
Hope somebody does not register this title for his next hindi film:d
VB, Wb, SL: This for Oz from you/us ppl.
Mein akela hee chala tha janibe manjil magar
log barhte gaye karvan barhta gaya (I had started alone towards my destination, but people joined me during my journey and we kept walking ahead):)
and hope it falls true in case of PFC also. Its another wish:d
thanks RK bhai…
