Starting a change from P.F.C – Opinion, Expression and INSPIRATION..
I want to dissect inspiration today. It’s been on my mind for a while. It’s the only truth that can help us do justice to whatever work we do in life. We start to change the world when we start to change ourselves. Who are we but Gods and kings?Inspiration is the only guide in this world that can show us a path that makes us alive.Inspiration is like undying faith.Inspiration allows us to live this truth with dignity.
I was going through Kartik’s article on the FTII conference and I came across something by a man I have great regard for… There are no collective dreams in films these days, there is no ‘WE’ there is only ‘I’. The army is still waiting for the king!!!!” We’re hiding behind underworld for stories since underworld has its sense of morality very clear. We’ve to find ‘We’ then we’ll find ‘folk’, ‘folklore’. —-Javed Akhtar. I met Mr. Akhtar about four years back when I was still trying to grasp the net. He actually took out time and invited me home and went through my lyrics. He quietly told me to work on my metering and thought. He made me write down names of some songs like Bhavra Bada Nadan and Ramiya Vastavaiya and said try and write songs with these melodies. I will never forget the man for giving me his time. I I still have a long way to go but nevertheless I will never forget the reassuring warmth and support. The support system is vital and we cannot afford to take it for granted or the insects will eat us alive. There has to be ‘’WE’’.The army needs a king who is a visionary. Yes, Mr. Akhtar is right when he says we are hiding behind the stories of the underworld. It’s because the underworld has an understanding and a unity and so we feel awed by it. Truth and integrity can form a powerful force together. It can be created only through inspiration and disciplined with humour.We have to consistently see to it that this child inside us is looked after because anything beautiful is fragile. It needs care to survive and it needs support to carry on. Innocence needs to be given a place where it can be free and one with nature. When we look at a wild animal we are in awe of it because of the fact that it is so powerful. You take out the animal from the jungle and put it in a zoo and it starts to die. It will never be the same. We need to protect it. We are in a time and space where we all are struggling desperately to achieve a sense of self worth and express through mediums like writing, making films and other artistic expressions to understand what we feel and who we are. It’s in the whole country.I think people who have no dreams are the poorest. Expression is important for the heart. Till we don’t take it out how will we breathe properly? We have all been affected. Are we allowed to express our pain without being made to feel like outcasts? Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Black Friday’ is a fine example of expression of the purest form in recent times.
We need to create an awareness that understands the basics of life… We are not freaks. We are humans. We need to join hands together and help each other go a long way or we are all nothing but stupid little loose ends with no real purpose in life. That is mental masturbation. We end up living a death in slow motion if we give in. People who cheat are in plenty and these are the parasites who want to live on your energy because they don’t have the humility to understand that they can create it from within by using internal generators and they don’t need to live life second hand. We just need to rely on inspiration to be grounded. We must understand that society can be nurtured only with good meaningful cinema and music. Cinema and music that is true. We need films that are necessary. We need music to feed the soul.if we can’t create something pure we eventually begin to smell of negativity and poor energy, for you see the most beautiful truth about this process is that it begins to heal us. It is impossible to sit till we don’t take it out of our system. When we create we have to do justice to the process of creation by going deep inside and walking in the fields for a while. It’s a serious conversation with our own selves. Inspiration is like a guiding light that never dies. Creators sometimes follow illusion as an inspiration which always causes confusion. There are so many distractions in this world it’s not easy to focus on what is real.I for example compose and write lyrics. I know for a fact that it may not be the best if you come down to the prostitution of comparison, but that is not what matters… What matters is I give my best in whatever I try to make. I put my soul in it. Even Himesh puts his soul in whatever he is making. I can see it. He is a little tired but he holds his fort. Everyone has a right to expression. Let people be…We are to focus on ourselves as everyone has their own path.
Nature and children are fantastic living sources and so is anything that has soul and comes from the depth. It has to be something that keeps one grounded. Touching water and even hugging a tree or a source that has undying energy. It could be anything. A picture in the head. Find the inspiration that is sublime and keeps you going. It has to be pure if you want to do anything. To be able to understand pure you have to be alert and awake. You have to be sharp. We can be all of that if we look after ourselves and surround ourselves with a positive energy field…
Let the internal whips keep you awake..

Don’t think all ecstasies are the same. Drink from the presence of saints, not from those other jars. Every object, every being, is a jar full of delight. Be a connoisseur, and taste with caution. Any wine will get you high. Judge like a king, and choose the purest, the ones unadulterated with fear, or some urgency about “what’s needed.” Drink the wine that moves you as a camel moves when it’s been untied, and is just ambling about.
