Subhash K Jha replies to the “Open Letter”

I received two emails from Subhash K Jha in response to this article I wrote few days ago

” Shame on you Mr Subhash K Jha : share the whisky with me”

Here’s mail no 1 I got from Mr Subhash K Jha -

Hey Karthik….you’re right.I deserve all the vilification on passionforcinema. But can I just say in my defence that I did mention very clearly that Srinivas spoke to Tarantino.? The only reason I didn’t mention the website is because I didn’t know the interview was off that site when I used those quotes.
Please accept my apology. And if you give me Srinivas’ email ID I’ll personally apologize to him.
As for all the hatemail calling me all those ugly names…all I can say is, thank you. I didn’t know I was so much loved by everyone including of course my dear friend Anurag Kashyap .
Warm regards
Subhash K Jha

Here’s mail no 2 I got from Mr Subhash K Jha -

It made me smile and sob to see so much venom being spewed on me. I smiled, because of the intensity of the responses(hats off to all the zealots who share a common passion for cinema on this blog). And I sobbed because of the tormenting twisted perverse lies put forward by everyone from fellow-journalists to filmmakers whose work I’ve had quibbles with.

Regarding my sexual orientation , I’m not gay and the sniggering references to Sammir Dattani are too corny to be disgusting because he’s like my son and someone whose talent I believe in. Is that wrong? As wrong as praising Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s or Mr Bachchan’s works? Or being their friend?

As for alcohol I don’t know what it tastes like. So the Black Label pun is not applicable, buddy.

Now coming to the crux..in my 18 years as a film journalist I’ve never once borrowed one line one phrase or one syntax from anyone’s article. In fact I’m constantly being vandallized by websites and papers all over the country. So Ajay, please keep your phoney holier-than-thou indignation in your effing pocket. Don’t let me open my mouth about what you are all about.

But I do owe Srinivas an apology . But not for vandalism. For sheer ignorance. Beyond the fact that the Tarantino quotes were Srinivas’ property(and that’s a fact that I stated prominently in my article) I had no clue where the interview came from . Only later did I discover that they were off a blog–a wonderful passionate blog.

I hope my explanation will appease all those who think this is an opportune moment to get even with me.

Thanks
Subhash K Jha

Too many holes in the letter.

“I had no clue where the interview came from” - Is this guy an idiot and thinks the rest of the world is too? Did Srinivas and Tarantino appear in his dream from where he took that “interview” (which is a conversation, someone please put some sense in this journalist)

Of course the conversation with QT must have come from somewhere… which is PFC where this idiot obviously sits on everyday to get his dose of original material he can copy from. How else do you explain his being hurt over so many people attacking him for this copying act? What other site or media is publishing readers’ anger of Jha’s copy act…

And there’s more to this… read this open email (is this an open letter season or what?) received from Shilpa Shetty’s publicist that is being emailed to everyone in the media:

AN OPEN LETTER TO SUBHASH K. JHA

    Dear Mr Subhash K. Jha,

This is in reference to your article talking about my clients Shiney Ahuja and Shilpa Shetty in ‘Mumbai Mirror’ dated May 10, 2007 and titled “Attention please!”.

    Article Link

(a.) In the article you have stated, “Shiney Ahuja throws tantrums galore

Kartik, I highly appreciate your effort to be balanced in this whole incident and be so down to earth to present the other side of the story. Thank you!

  3. RK on May 14th, 2007 8:07 am

    Mr Jha,
What Anarkali had said to Empreror Akbar in Mughal-i-Azam,
“In tamam inayaton ke badle, Ye Kaneez, Shahanshah Jallauddin Mohd. Akbar ko apna khoon maaf kartee hai”

    Does it fit?

But your reply to open letter does not throw any light, if you did not take it from PFC website then how did you get this interview?

Give the man a break. Let time be the judge. Plagarism is rampant in Bollywood and why should journalists be left behind.

I happened to catch Indian Idol 3 show and 90% of the music or voice over are from AR Rahman. I wonder if producers of Indian Idol have acquired the rights from him or his labels. Talk about it..

Yaha to puri baraat dulhe ki mmarne ke liye khadi hai, aur dulha gayab hai.

Achi siksha hai, jab duniya tumhari maare, chup baiton. Duniya chilla chilla ke chup ho jayegi.

Par mere doston, hum chup nahi baithege, jaha bhi haramkhor ka naam ayega, hum waha is article ka link daal ke kamine ki credibility ki maa bhen kar denge. Waise bhi kuch khaas bachi to nahi hai ;-)

  21. rajeev on May 31st, 2007 10:51 am

Given the nature of the industry he ‘reports’ on, you’d forgive Sri Jha if he was merely a plagiarist. However, the crux of the issue is that he is a pretender, in fact, the ultimate wannabe. He doesn’t have any qualms about claiming proximity to stars, all and sundry - so Raveena Tandon is his ‘muhboli’ sister, Bachchan Sr talks candidly only to him, he is the ultimate confidante to Sushmita Sen. Why on earth he needs to project his personal equations - real or imagined - as the sole basis for his writings? Because he has no professional point of view? Or because his POV depends on how a star treats him? Or because he is so desperately seeking to redeem his ever-dwindling sense of self-esteem? Has anyone ever read a genuine film critique, or tracing of an actor’s career graph, or delving into an actor’s motivations… from Sri Jha’s ‘insightful’ articles. That’s my real problem with this man. Clutching on to his fragile, pathetic sense of self-worth, the only thing he has to feed his ‘readers’ is all the delusionary nonsense about how important he is in the lives of so many stars. SRK gave the perfect shut up call to this parasite. I don’t care whether he is gay or straight or plain impotent, nor do it concerns me whether he has tasted alcohol or has an innocent palate. What bothers me is that supposedly savvy publications fail to see through this blackmailing pretender. Shame on them for not having sacked him long ago. If they did, the only place left for Sri Jha would be the cyberspace, where he’d be exposed in no time (like we’ve seen here), and sent packing to lord over the hallucinatory world he creates so well for himself.

Mr. Jha, since ur career has ended why don’t u write a bunch of bad “sources” about stars to keep us entertained *roll eyes*

  25. gauri on July 19th, 2007 2:11 am

i agree entirely with rajeev. subhash is pathetic. he has no idea how much of a laughing stock he is when he claims proximity to all those stars. i’m truly surprised that leading newspapers continue to publish his crap unedited even though most are aware of his being on payrolls and using the press to settle personal scores. but with sonu nigam having blown his cover now, i think newspapers have finally seen sense, and the career of this family member of the bachchans, lata mangeshkar, raveena tandon, sanjay bhasali, sammir dattani etc etc etc is finally over.
