Sunday 100 : Stranger on the street
Recently some PFC authors were disturbed by a new article which showed a helpless woman all bloodied on the street having been stabbed by an idiot. The shock from the picture was not only from the fact that the picture showed passerbys simply standing there looking at the woman (except another woman rushing in to hold the victim’s hand)… but also the inhumanity on part of the photographer who stood there clicking the victim’s pictures, brushing aside her cries for help… and instead focussed on getting some “masala pictures”…
The Sunday 100 for this week is you… You watching the stabbed victim while the photojournalist clicks the victim’s pictures

main seeti baja raha tha
saamne takla khada tha
uska sar bahut bada tha
woh bheed mein chhup raha tha
uska takla phir bhi dikh raha tha
koi uska peecha kar raha tha
woh uska “passione” tha
woh passione se bhaag raha tha
phir mujhse woh takra gaya
uss ajnabi pe mujhe taras aa gaya
maine usse chhupa liya
usne mera detachment chura liya
maine usse nanga kar ghar se nikal diya
woh “OZ” bhi bhaag raha hai
detachment maang raha hai
“passione” milegi detachment nahi
usse mirchi lagi to main kya karoon

Brutally wounded, she was lying on the road. People felt a hitch to touch her. If she dies en route to hospital? Perhaps everybody had a fear of police
“Blood.. Blood.. Wow it looks good. Can I taste it ? A guy is taking photos. Will it come on newspaper. Should I go near her ? Maybe that guy will take my photo too. I will become famous. Or leave it. I don’t feel like posing with her. My shirt might get dirty” These may be the words of some people who were just watching the incident.
I would have gone past the commotion had I not seen the pool of blood and the pitiable sight of a middle aged man growling in pain. He had been stabbed. No one was offering to rush him to the hospital fearing police case. There was a wannabe photojournalist clicking away pictures- probably for his blog. I went up to him and told him - “I am from YTV and this is a candid camera prank”. The guy immediately looked around and quickly helped me in rushing the guy to hospital .
Later he asked me hesitantly,
