SURYA AGAIN!!!

HEY GUYS,
Thanks a million for ur overwhelming response to my first post, its really touching to see so many of u wanting to know so much about cinema, and especially when it surrounds a man, a technician called RAM GOPAL VARMA. Guys let me tell you one thing, he is a dude for sure. Works fucking 20 hours a day and cannot converse beyond cinema. Movies are his life, he eats them, drinks them and breathes them. In the mean time, manjeet i somewhere agree with u. But RGV if he believes in something he will go ahead with his instincts, and keep on trying. As far as the kind of people employed with the RGV film company is concerned, i guess it just does not matter, everybodies love for the cinema just automatically sucks you into this profession. Unfortunately, we don come from the culture where cinema is considered good. THough thankfully, i see the attitude and appraoch towards films have changed. I am sure henceforth children when asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” wont be surprised, or hesitate to answer “A Filmmaker”. As far as i am concerned, i am a double post graduate. To begin with i am a commerce graduate, with a diploma in Journalism and Mass communication, with a post graduate degree from THE TATA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES” (TISS) specialising in Medical and Psychiatric social work followed by another Post Graduate Degree in Mass Communication (TV & FILMS), from the JAMIA MILLIA ISLAMIA, NEW DELHI. I guess enough of my CV… by he way sharma Vikas, it was pleasure having you on board too on Nishabd. Also Thankyou Striker boy for putting me through OZZZZZZZZZZZZZ…

surya we need more abt ‘Nishabd’ making and experiece…every nuances while working with RGV..his way of handling his asistantant…is he really dominating as per the media….
Ha suraya ji we all know that about RGV, but any personal accounts would be great to hear and still keeping shtum on Nishabd
Hey Surya, just heard someone saying u live in Vikhroli…….is that true……
yes i do… rising…
Surya .. u too from jamia ????
me passed out of engg faculty ….
sometimes i wonder if i too had done mass comm like u
Hey Surya, nice to know that you are double post graduate & you’re with RGV. It would be great if we can get some insights into how the your Master Works.
BTW, do you know Amal Neerad? I’d a small role in the 1st Malayalam he shot ‘Black’
I have to admit, i am facinated by Ram Gopal Varma, have been for years.
I remember watching ‘Shiva’ (the Nagarjuna one)back when it released and I was hooked!
At first I was extremley dissapointed with my mums choice of film as she went out and got the film (we weren’t allowed to choose films back then..well, where i come from anyway!)
I wanted a film with ’stars’ in.. not some odd looking ‘Shiva’ film!
But boy, things changed alot for me after that.
I then remeber cutting out and keeping posters of ‘Raat’ and freaking my mum out.
By the time ‘Rangeela’ had released, I was too far gone as a Ramu fan!
I actually went back to see it at the cinema (which was miles and miles away) nine times!
I went out and got numerous audio c.d’s and tape cassettes and insisted everyone who come in contact with me listens to it…
It didnt matter to me whether they were Indian, white, black, chinese, green, pink…
I just forced ‘Rangeela’ on everyone!
Infact i was quite pissed with ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ which released at the same time, as everyone was ‘dilwale, dilwale’ and i was holding the Ramu ‘Jhanda’ all alone (where was PFC when i needed it most!!!)
And I totally agree with Honhaar who says it doesnt matter if a few of Ramu’s films failed as he has done some wonderful stuff.
But, i do also appreciate other directors too…eg, i love Yash Chopra’s ‘Lamhe’ and Bhansali’s ‘Khamoshi’ and ‘Black’ amongst others, so Im not biased… but, yes, Ramu’s film excite me like no other.
Oh, and ManiRatnam’s do too.
I would love to tell Ramu the influence he has had on me one day.. but feel a little intimidated by what i have heard and read about him.
Hmmm… maybe one day.. when i become a big flop director!!(Flops are normally better!)
Hey Guys,
So sorry, havent actually got to write, RGV has decided to shoot a song for Nishabd, so have been busy with it. Unfortunately the net connection at home too has crashed, so unable to write from home too. But the promise remains, will share with u all the good and bad things that took place in the making of Nishabd. Though i dont have to say that BIG B rocks, but let me tell u Jiah Khan is going to come as a big surprise and so will Shraddha Arya who plays BIG Bs daughter.
hey steve,
i agree with u, all the filmmakers u mentioned here are superb technicians. Each one specialises in their particular style of filmmaking. U might hate DDLJ, but the masses have proved it otherwise. In fact coming days will bring in new films by relatively new film directors. Just wait and watch Johnny Gaddar by Sriram Raghavan, dude this film is even two thousand times better then his debut ‘Ek Haseena Thi’, another film i think that will rock is by our very own Anurag Kashyap and yes i am talking about ‘Black Friday’, i have seen this film too and guys, you have to see Aditya Srivastavs performance, he rocks… And kartik, i think u d have as well joined mass comm man..
Surya, what’s Johnny Gaddar about?
i m eagarly awaiting for sriram raghvan’s next…johnny gaddar..name itself sounds cool…u gotta tell us about it surya
- aye yay yaaaaaaaaaa….:(( Surya you have a way in making us beg for more info… just kidding eagerly waiting for Nishabd’s part 2 of your post… and more info on Johnny Gaddar if you have any please…
Surya
‘Ek hasina thi’ itself is a good movie and then ‘Johnny Gaddar’ you say is 2000 times better. waiting for it….
Also for Black Friday….where did u see this film…eagarly waiting for it too….
nishabd…good stuff
steve….yes great films mentioned above, Lamhe, Khamoshi, Black
Salim Langde pe mat ro…just came to my mind…good film too…
‘Johnny Gaddar’?? What genre?
Is that a comedy or thriller??
Well, i did like ‘Ek Hasina Thi’ alot, and feel that Sriram extracted a very convincing performance from Urmila.
I like her, but at times she tends to go a little overboard, but in ‘hasina’ her pitch was just right, so i’ll definitely be awaiting his next. Who stars in it by the way??
Also Chandan Arora’s work is impressive too, and I think he should make more films.
They’re simple, yet refreshing.. he’s cool!
But back to your post, well thank you for agreeing that the above named directors are talented.
And whilst DDLJ is a good film, it didnt do alot for me.
But then i say that about ‘Gladiator’, which i feel is a well made film, but i dont like that genre, so i cant fully appreciate those films.
Having said that ‘Kuch Kuch Hota hai’ was a superior film in comparison to DDLJ, but i know i’ll get joota’s for saying that!!
Anyway, ‘Black Friday’ and ‘J.C’ i’ll definitely see, but you guys must release these films at U.K cinema’s, otherwise we end up watching rubbish quality pirated dvd copies!!

Isnt ‘Johnny Gaddar’ a Vijay Raaz film???
Or am i thinking of ‘Raghu Romeo’??
And soz, the previous post wasnt meant to come through twice!
I got distracted watching Shilpa Shetty!!
OYE STEVE,
Johnny Gaddar is by Sriram raghavan, the same director who direced ‘Ek Haseena Thi’, and the one u r mentioning is by Rajat Kapoor, the guy who played priety’s uncle in ‘DIL CHAHTA HAI’. samjhe kya???? its ok if u did not like gladiator or ddlj, even i did not like ‘lagaan’. Write a post to anurag about the release of ‘Black Friday’, we all are praying that it gets released soon… C ya soon again dude. Its fun though interacting with u all.
Oh….. now i see.
