…i.e. Lead Hero Syndrome. Kamal Hassan’s latest release, Dashavataram, once again brought the epidemic to fore.

The disease however is an age old one and heroes, more so superstars have an extremely high rate of susceptibility.

So what’s Dashavataram about? If you think it’s about some undercover agent, some temple priest or even the costliest epic ever produced in India, you are still way off the mark. It is simply this – Kamal Hassan’s acute denial of ageing. He contracted the virus a while back; it’s just that the effects are more visible and pronounced today. There are many expressions of this syndrome, Kamal Hassan’s illness took the ego-trip route. Even in the near past, in films like Hey Ram, one could see the actor’s overwhelming urge to hog each and every frame …

Chaos theory…butterfly effect…..existence of God…….an unstable biochemical substance which may destroy the world….Tsunami…..Now these words blabbered by the voice-over and that too in an Indian Movie can make anyone excited …..but wait there is more…we have a George Kamal Bush who does a rajni to get up from his seat……we have a Japanese girl who speaks Tamil….we have a Punjabi Kamal Bhangra singer who apparently does a bhangra in Tamil……..There is a extended looooong chase which starts with 15 mins in the movie and finishes just mins before the movie ends……and ya there is Mallika Sherawat……

The story begins in an era where Vishnu clan and Shiva clan or you can say cults are trying hard to vote down each other…..The leader king of Shiva Clan wants to move the Ranganatha idol ..errr not move..to throw it into the sea……He is opposed and fought by none other then Kamal who is …

The 54 year old veteran and one of the finest method actors cinema has ever seen is only 2 shy of 50 years in cinema and His dil still maangs for more !!!

“what would you have been doing if you weren’t an actor?”

The 10th grade drop out who is now addressed as “Padma shri Dr kamal hasan!!!” modestly says by rolling his eyes that acting is the only thing he knows and ya we can trust him there!!!
