Pusan: Rajesh Shera on AFC and his Ocean of an Old Man

This is the second interview of the Pusan series, if one might call it so, following the interview of Partho Sen-Gupta (http://passionforcinema.com/pusan-partho-sen-gupta-on-ppp-and-his-arunoday/).

Shera’s Ocean of an Old Man is being showcased in the New Currents section of the Pusan International Film Festival as one of the six projects selected for the Independent Feature Post-production Fund of the Asian Cinema Fund (ACF) programme, considered a recognition for best emerging talents from Asia:

How did you get to know about this particular fund of Pusan film fest, and what kind of selection process you underwent before your project got selected?

My associate producer Pinaki Chatterji, who got associated with my film from the last year’s Film Bazaar, IFFI, Goa, had informed me about the ACF. For the selection process, I had to send the rough cut of film to Pusan selection committee along with the shooting script.

Pusan: Partho Sen-Gupta on PPP and his Arunoday

Sometime back, I had written about three Indian films being selected by the Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) for its programmes targeted at helping independent Asian filmmakers (http://passionforcinema.com/pusan-film-fest-to-aid-3-indian-films/)

Out of them, Partho Sen-Gupta’s Arunoday (Sunrise) was the only Indian entry among 30 selected from all over Asia (out of 200 entries received) for the Pusan Promotion Plan (PPP), designed to help these films find co-producers and financiers.

Arunoday, being produced by Sudhir Mishra’s Cine Raaz Production, is likely to see its production take off by 2008-end. PIFF has just started (Oct 2) and will continue till Oct 10. Right time, probably, to share with you an interview of Partho Sen-Gupta:

How did you get to know about this particular fund of Pusan film fest, and what kind of selection process you underwent before your project got selected?
