Tahaan - exclusive look and theatrical promo

Santosh Sivan is back. With a new film - Tahaan. A story of a nine year boy Tahaan and his donkey Birbal. Its set in kashmir, which is visual delight for any filmmaker. And if Sivan is behind the camera, then you know what to expect.

The film stars Purav Bhandare (kid), Anupam Kher, Sarika, Rahul Bose, Rahul Khanna and Victor Bannerjee and is scheduled to release in september. Till then enjoy these exclusive pics from the sets of the film and the theatrical promo. Do let us know what you think about it.

Its difficult to choose one or two films from the vast body of work of Santosh Sivan. But my two all time favourite films are Halo and Malli. Both kids film. And what a treat. If you havent seen them yet, do get the dvd. Am eagerly waiting for Tahaan now!

Looking forward to its release in October.
I read that he wanted to release this film first in Kashmir.
The situation is really bad there right now.

brilliant! brilliant! brilliant! even if there isn’t much of a story, watching sivan’s work in kashmir is treat enough. Is it gonna be out in theatres or ?

A film worth worth waiting for…

Sarika’s second innings in tinseltown is coming to be quite positive for her re. the kind of films she chooses to be part of - right from Kal, Parzania, Bheja fry and now Tahaan…(a few i could have missed out…)

The best part of this film I feel is that even though it has so many well known faces, I guess its the story and the kid thats going to steal the show..And of course the one behind it all - Sivan himself..

@ Arun: Tahaan is the name of the kid in the film. I had read somewhere that it means ‘cloud’….

  17. durrain on August 12th, 2008 2:29 am

The challenge for a film-maker, among other things is to always find that new perspective of a place or subject that has been over-filmed or over-discussed in the past… Sivan did it amazingly well with Mumbai in Halo… and now, hope he finds that something ‘new’ with Kashmir and Tahaan!

Tahaan means one with mercy or compassion, it is also the name of the little boy in the film. It has a fantastic cast and a good story line. The little boy Purav truly gives a genuine and remarkable performance.
    the official film website is:
