The Bas#@rd Children of Films

This is my first post for PFC (ahem ahem). This should be fun and please be tender :-)

I did not put up that rather profane title for this post to get your attention but meant it. If it got some guys as an added bonus to read it, then fantastic

I am trying to simply highlight a rather true piece of data about a lot of people from my generation. We are part of a family and do have a lot of friends and relatives around us but we all have one umbilical cord connection to the world of films.

This is a relationship where we are not sure of the giveback from our parents the films but we are definitely the Bastard children of this. We pine, wait, kick, pull and wail, wait all to seek escapism in its deep folds. This gives us a kick, a sense of joy and we need more.

I mean, honestly, how many of you have not suddenly been bugged by the traffic around you, the yobs on the road, the noise etc. when you have seen a really bad film and the same YOU, have been gung-ho, a step in your walk, humming along a nice ditty and ignored all this when you have seen a really good film. This in a nutshell is my theory of being the Bastard child of films. We are that approval seeking crowd who have to get a fix of our craving from our mother-ship every week or at least once a month else we get into deep depression and start to sulk and generally berate about all things in life.

I am for certain this and can see this in my life. I remember the day I saw “Departed” (My God’s Movie). I was actually pushed down a series of steps by a drunk in a mall in Bangalore but the bruise on my arm was nothing as I was still dancing along with Leo, Jack, Damon to the tune of my Guru Scorsese. At the same time, I remember the day I walked out of this really crappy movie called “Ugadi” in Kannada and then without any rime or reason picked up a verbal fight with the parking attendant for not having given me the right change.
Before you start off asking me why I went to see “Ugadi”, remember that I am a Bas*@rd child of films and hence need to see any and every movie released that week and hence as there was nothing on that week, I had to see this. I had gone with this buddy of mine (another B child) and we were sitting next to this FAN of the movie who was enjoying the movie and was giving us dirty looks as we were making some really bad remarks about the movie. We hence had to laugh at the right places (Meaning the really bad Jokes) and this friend of mine (Harsha) kept laughing at the wrong places and making this FAN gives us more dirty stares.

This is the added on problem of being a B Child and you will need to plough on with being loyal to the cause under any strain

I thing I have written enough to propound this theory of mine and od chip in with your thoughts and views

Cheers,
Deepak

This is a good one dude! Couldn’t agree more with you.

But why b**@@d? I think we are the legitamate children of cinema, unlike those wankers who see a movie just so that they can go back to their sad little lives and tell everyone at office
“this weekend I saw 12 angry men” or whatever…

Or those poseurs who pretend that movie viewing is an “arty” experience.

:-? Hmmm , Got me thinking . I think I am a legitimate Bas*#rd child of cinema. I have watched in the last couple of months Tararum…, Jhoomm…., AAP KA…. , BOWBARRACKS…., PARTNER…and more and still waiting for that brilliant movie that comes along and makes me forget the pain and agony that I underwent while watching some of the “biggies” and “Small” movies. Give me a good story and I will keep watching movies till I die. Good start dude !! keep posting “B” Child
