The Case For Yash Tonk !!!
Vivek Kumar | Movies | October 27, 2006 at 11:51 pm
Yash who? Exactly !! Tonk is a supporting actor in Indian films with
notable appearances in Ishq Vishq , he is the Rocky who keeps giving
ill advise to the leading guys and also was seen in a grey role in
Feroz Khan’s Jahnasheen as Celina’s brother.
The point is that this write up celebrates guys like Yash Tonk and
Malika Shekhawat (co incidently both Haryanvi Jats), who come in the
Bollywood Film Industry not knowing a soul and end up making some
sort of name and fame for themselves. Yes I can see you giggling at
the mention of Shekhawat’s name…real name Ritu Lamba and she ain’t
no country bumpkin, was from Delhi Public School, but the fact of the
matter is the means justify the ends and it is not as if she has
killed someone. She is doing whatever it takes to succeed in an
environment where she knows nobody.
Bollywood is a tough environment, as many American/British/Canadian
Indians discover when they get off at Sahar International. But it is
also a land of opportunity. It might give a better start to a few,
but ultimately it is the survival of the one’s the audience loves
most. There are many star offsprings that failed …. Kumar Gaurav,
Arbaaz Khan, Kunal Goswami, Ritu Shivpuri, Rinkie Khanna, Faizal Khan
(not an offspring but being Aamir’s brother has some advantages).
Clearly failure was not limited to any one gender.
There are many who came and carved out a niche (any niche, not
necessarily the leading guy) for themselves without having any acting
connections….Manoj Bajpai, Rajpal Yadav, Anu Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit,
Jackie Shroff, Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta again a fair game for
either gender.
Whatever Bollywood is, it is about hope and a chance. It does not ask
whether you are from a village named Tonk in Haryana, or a suave
south Mumbaite from Pedder Road, it does not seek educational
qualification, hence being equally fair to school dropout Jackie as
it is to Atlanta based Mangement Consultant Nagesh Kukunoor, it does
not ask your nationality, hence equally welcoming Czech Yana, as it
is to Brit Toby Stevens, it does not ask for your background check,
hence welcoming naxalite Mithuin Chakraborty as it is to a farmer
turned oil driller for an American company, Dharam Singh Deol (also
called Dharmendra)…the only thing it asks for in simple terms…is
to be that ONE ,which or who, appeals to the
Ashok/Anwar/Antony/Adille/Sheila/Sandra/Shirin/Salma/Mrs Khanna/Mr
Gopalaswamy/Auntie D’costa/Uncle Pardiwala/Mr Singh/Mrs Narula….
oh along the way try and also appeal to Ash/Paul/Julie/Tina from US
& Jesse/Sue from Canada & Sir Swaraj from UK, Mr Tomas Verghese from
Dubai & Miss Hingorani from Hong Kong…oh did I forget Mr Patel from
Kenya!!!!
There you go, win them over and you have a place in this amazing
stretch of land from Bandra West to Goregaon East, a place some folks
call Bollywood or Film City…a city in a city!!!!
It does not matter whether you come by a Mercedes, the Western Line
Local from Churchgate, BEST bus 84Ltd from Dhobi Talao or the Air
Sahara from Udaipur. What matters is DID YOU APPEAL TO THE EMOTION OF
THE PEOPLE?
If you did, you have now become a part of the most productive and the
most influential society south of the Equator…the land of Indian
films.
Chaand Taare Tod Laoon….Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hain
(Reaching for the stars and plucking a few…that is the only thing I
aspire)
All the best to all the applicants who give this world a try, be it
as actors, writers, producers, etc…we salute your drive to Linking
Road Bandra and beyond,
Sincerely,
Vivek “apna Raju hero hain aur ham Raju ke fan…ke Raju ban gya
Gentleman” Kumar
the neighborhood boy,Raju, has become a hero in Bollywood and we have
become his fans…suddenly Raju has become a Gentleman!!!!!!

Yash tonk is one real good..under utlised actor just like Kumr Gaurav… Bollywood please use Yash better.
@ Vivek.. mallika’s real name is Reema Lamba and not as mentioned
i remember seeing him in a disaster called fight club.. but he definitely stood out as a live wire on edge. pity he was killed off so zayed could display his *cough* worth :-b
omg! you watched fight club! what mediaction did you take to overcome Ashmit Patel in long locks!
yash tonk is simply annoying, unless he drops his ‘wannabe’ body language, he will keep doin these insubstantial side kick roles.
a very nice n different post but, vivek.
Yash Tonk is a great dancer – am watching him on that show naach balliyeh alongside his partner Gauri. Both v impressive
Sangeeta,
Half of the actor in India can dance better than act. After all dancing in Indian cinema is mostly about jumping about! If they had done some classical dance then….
Interestingly, Yash is referred as the Salman Khan of small screen, I don’t know why?
Honhaar,
agreed, one of the skills they require these days is to look hot and be able to dance. But i just recall now where i’ve seen this guy Yash. He works in tv drama Kesar.
Sorry i couldnt read the whole of what uve written but there are quite many mistakes in the little portion that i read(there must be more in the rest as i can guess).
1- Its Mallika Sherawat and not Shekhawat as according to u.
2- Her real name is Reema Lamba and not Ritu Lamba
3- Its FaiSal Khan who is Amir Khan’s brother and not FaiZal Khan
