The Curious Case of Going Mad with Joy

Well at the outset let me tell you all that this write-up has nothing to do with ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’. Last night while I was excitedly watching the Pathan brothers annihilate Srilanka & help India win the Twenty: 20 cricket match, I received the invite to join the PFC Author’s club & I went delirious with joy. My wife couldn’t comprehend whether I was going ballistic over India’s win or if I was mad. So considering that this is my first post as an author on PFC, I thought why not I share some of the recent moments in my life where I’ve gone mad with joy.
So here I ago with the moments & let me tell you all that these are just listed randomly and not in any chronological order or order of importance –
1.Slumdog Millionaire & ARR being in the limelight- Well I know SM is technically not an Indian movie & nor do I rate this as one of the best works of ARR. But all said & done when a movie like this makes Indian cinema directly/indirectly popular, I can’t but feel happy about it. Similar is the feeling that I have for ARR & Resul Pookutty in particular.
2. Dev D being in the limelight & garnering success- That Anurag Kashyap, UTV and everyone else associated with Dev D have been in the limelight is a known fact. But what makes the feeling even more positive is the fact that the movie is turning out to be a genuine success at the box office also. Such a phenomena will no doubt help more movies of this kind.
3.Naan Kadavul’s release- Bala’s patience paying off- After a 3 year long wait Bala’s Naan Kadavul is finally out & though the early reports are mixed, the feedback has been quite positive in terms of the movie’s credentials and the performances of the artistes especially Arya & Pooja.
4.Raaz-The Mystery Continues becoming a hit- Well I’ve always admired Vishesh Films, Emran Hashmi & Mohit Suri for being true to the kind of movies that the make. So once again they have stuck to their basics with Raaz & be it the music or the story element, the people seem to have accepted the movie.Raaz-TMC is the first Hindi hit of 2009.
5.UTV & Rajkamal Films to remake A Wednesday in Tamil & Telugu- Yes its now official.Kamal Haasan has finally announced his next project. His Rajkamal Films & UTV will co-produce A Wednesday’s remake in Tamil & Telugu. While Kamal Haasan will do Naseerudin Shah’s role in both the versions, Mohanlal is to do Anupam Kher’s role in Tamil & talks are in with Nagarjuna for the Telugu version. I am looking forward to this project eagerly as I feel this would be a firecracker for sure.
I have just listed out some top of the mind recall events/news that has made me feel mad with joy. I might even have left out certain points. Feel free to comment on what might have made you feel mad with joy of late.
