The World Premiere of Anand Surapur’s The Fakir Of Venice starring Farhan Akhtar opens IFFLA – The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles this Tuesday, April 21!

The synopsis of the film from the IFFLA Web site:
“Adi, a man who constantly hustles to make things happen, is tasked with finding a fakir – a holy man, known for performing feats of endurance. Instead he finds Sattar, a poor man who buries himself in sand on the beach to collect money from passersby and tourists. Together, the two con men venture to Venice where the fakir is to be featured in an art exhibit. Once in the ancient city, their paths diverge. Adi seizes upon the opportunity to advance in the world while Sattar, under the constant gaze of mystified spectators and the foreignness of Italy grows homesick and increasingly isolated. In a strange land where their culture is commodified and exploited for artistic, political and spiritual purposes, these two men are forced to examine the course of their individual lives.”
The Fakir of Venice was Farhan Akhtar’s debut film as an actor, and is written by Rajesh Devraj (who also wrote Quick Gun Murugan, which is also featured at IFFLA on Friday, April 24). Tickets to the film include passes to the opening night gala event!

I soo wanted to see this film..alas cant be there on Tuesday!!
All the best Anand. Cheers!
hey, whn can we expect it in India? hope it doesnt get stuck for either want of a distributor (farhan may do something abt it, maybe) or worse still, due to some censor issues (u never know these days…)
This film’s plot has always sounded exciting to me, eager to hear about how the final product is.
I saw the movie, well done
