The Johnny Gaddaar Music Video : Title Track

[putting the trailer up again, since we lost the last post due to the downtime]

Here’s the single Johnny Gaddaar track that was released yesterday. Listen, enjoy and go buy the whole track… Interesting to note that Sriram (Raghavan) gives the whole 70s retro look and feel to Johnny Gaddaar. References to the James Hadley Chase novel that Neil’s reading, the way the trailer starts, even the way Johnny Gaddaar the title on the poster is designed… The Johnny Gaddaar title track has this crazy weird energy to it…

Comments before the downtime have been recovered and are pasted below:

    HG:

i don’t know how much thought did the director or the lyricist had in coming up with the tune, but…

it is good that the trio have co-produced this single (and releasing soon the complete album), this gave them a bit of freedom to think creatively, albeit the subject was a bit…

hope in future they produce their own stuffs, so then can fully utilize their talent… that is the way to go forward.

oh and, thank god, the lyrics does not consist any rap bit or a tripe in english. but, i presume, the album will have that, since hard kaur has sung one of the song. i don’t like her; i think she is rubbish.

i hope the album will be as good as the single.

    Pratim D. Gupta:

    Completely rocks!

    Tushar:

I can’t see the video but the audio rocks. I loved the way they use ‘Johnny’. Full on cinema…

    Suchita B:

Awesome editing continuum and a pacy, beaty track adding to it!!

    Mainak:

    Awesome!
I can’t wait to see the movie. Well edited video. Neil has started to grow on me. I still find it difficult to digest that he is a MBA. Ranvir looks more like a MBA to me. But who cares. I’m sure Neil is awesome or else someone like Shriram won’t give him such a fantastic break.

    Tushar:

lol, Mainak. I couldn’t agree with you more on the MBA thing. Drop-out hai to its fine. :)

    Om:

Lovely song….it sounds and looks very sinful…delightfully corrupt…so much of raw malice hiding somewhere in the character…the deceit….all these ingredients will make for a good Biryani Shriram bhai…awesome work….even more eager to watch the movie now…

    Anurag Kashyap:

    superb

    Wow

    Hi all,
Just a response to Onir’s post which i just saw. Lapped up his compliments but must point out the faux pax or whatever. Boman Irani (a fine, fun actor) is not in the cast of Johnny Gaddaar. So suddenly I’m wondering, maybe Boman is Johnny Gaddaar.

Which reminded me of an anecdote about Howard Hawks THE BIG SLEEP, based on Raymond Chandler’s novel. Midway during shooting, the director called the writer and said that as per your own script’s logic, the murderer cant be … because of …. reasons. And Chandler thought a bit and said…heck…you’re right. But that’s how it’s in the book.

Likewise i heard that during the shooting of BRIJ’s Victoria 203, during the climax shoot, when there is a merry chase for the elusive diamond….and fakes abound, even the makers and writers forgot who has the actual diamond.

These stories may not be completely accurate but they make terrific stories. So….is Boman Irani Johnny Gaddaar????!!@!!! find out on the last friday of september.

And SPOILER WARNING!!!!!! Rosebud is ……

…….the word Charles Foster Kane utters as he dies.

Awesome trailer and song….Now the movie should live up to its promise of being a stylish fast paced thriller….a desi noir film - I dare hope…Surely the maker of “Ek hasina Thi” will push the bar further this time…

  7. wb on September 4th, 2007 9:21 pm

sriram // using *whiff of money* as a prop, was that just a subliminal flash vis-a-vis the story context or is there a more profound reason?

  8. gangolu on September 10th, 2007 6:33 am

loved the promo. Good editing. Loved the way “coming soon”,”Dont miss the beginning”,”dont revel end” are blended with actual movie shots.

There is greatness in being casual, in being non-chalant even when u know u r being a part of the gr8ness being synthesized.. when u sway lazily and go about your work and dont stop to rethink what really worked for u..
I know its an inhuman attitude to be so laconic, but its truly an attitude that distinguishes absolute genuises from minors..
and I think this film has that attitude, the soundtrack so has it… a certain sense of spiritual enrichment.. Spiritual enrichment might so seem quite a divergent term to what this film, this soundtrack is trying to achieve.. But it is so there… am waiting!!!!!

Maybe it will start a new genre of film making.

Can you provide me with the details of follwoing song.
    1) The song which Dharmendra’s wife used to sing.
    2) The song “ghadi ki suiyaan” referenced in “bhoole bisre geet”.

I like these songs very much. Would be really thankful, if some torrent link are also posted .. !!
