The Lies They Tell!!
Vivek Kumar | Movies, People | March 11, 2007 at 9:59 am
So Folks,
This is Showbiz and people like to put their best foot forward. This includes ALL without exception and sometimes it measn resorting to telling incorrect things (short of saying they Lie).
Let’s look at some examples:
AAMIR “I’m all about integrity” KHAN- a) Denies being married when QSQT was being released (LOL his then wife was acting in that movie) b) Claims to the whole world that he played tennis for Maharashtra as a junior. The guy went to school at Bombay Scottish and I happen to have played the inter school in the year(s) that he played the 16’s (I was playing the 12’s). The coach of the team was Praveen Luthra and the name of Aamir Khan does not appear anywhere!!!!!
Then late last week in a column on the Web Entitled – DINO – Who Would Marry Me? – Actor Dino “(http://123india.santabanta.com/cinema.asp?pid=13690) the guy says he played Tennis Professionally!!!!?????. Really. That can be solved very easily. When in doubt about who played tennis professionally and who played ALLEGEDLY professinally,go to the website of ATP at www.atptour.com and type in the last or first name of the player. The only Morea that comes up is from France and the only Italian Indian who has played for India, is Calcutta based Enrico Pipperno!!
Also on tennis, we have the following claim which is true aka Bikram Saluja (FIZA). Type in his name and it does pop up. However, when asked why he gave up, he says he found his true calling…..sorry dude….you were knocked out of the first couple of rounds of the junior US Open so at least be man enough to say “I tried but the circuit was way to hard,” will earn more respect than the half baked lies!!
Then let’s get to Squash…So called “I am a stud” Sunny Deol says in his interview that he wanted to turn profesional in squash. Then how come he gave a walkover in Mumbai Gymkhana, many year’s back, when he was supposed to play Bhubaneshwari Kumari (she was one of the few women who was allowed to play the men’s, cause she had won the women’s national title like 7 times in a row and there was really no competition left there). Did “professional” Sunny fear a loss? Or did the word “professional” merely mean I am good, but now that I am in showbiz, I am great!!
Then Milind Gunaji claims to be a pro level Badminton Player (http://www.rediff.com/movies/1998/jan/09mil.htm). So how come we never hear that name in the annals of Badminton in India and the world. Was he a pro in his building?
Finally the big one’s. Wrestler Dara Singh and Randawa are supposed to be this world champions in wrestling. So how come they never won any Olympic or World medals or for that matter even a National medal???
Sincerely,
Vivek “no business like show business, no lies like true lies” Kumar

Truly enlightening!
NO BIJJNES LIKE SOW BIJJNES…
very true!!!
Aamir went around the world telling that he had a close shave while filming the scene where he jumps across tracks in Ghulam (directed by the “ever inspired” Vikram Bhatt). And the truth was that it was CG generated special effect!
Ahhhhhhh well well well :o :o :o
dara singh and randhawa were “pros” in a WWE style indigenous “Rustam e Hind” tournament where they got similar nautanki wrestlers from UK & Africa. So they are the same level as Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin, it’s just that they fought at Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium and not Madison Square Garden ;-)
entertaining!! good research work!
Why cant they make a remake of Liar Liar in hindi… we have so many talented ators
vineeth, there actually was a remake of liar liar in hindi.. “kyonki main jhooth nahin bolta” had govinda playing a jim carrey.. ‘nuf said :-b
It is so difficult to lie nowadays thanks to the Internet. I had heard that Amisha Patel had said in an interview that she was a gold medalist in economics from an American University. If I am not mistaken, no American University gives out gold medals.
Gold medal? I think if she got a degree in economics it would be a big deal…
gold medal in economics… LOL… if she actuallly said that..its quite sad.. i’ve never heard of such thing… maybe she might be in the honors programs for economics :|… which is quite easy to get..
this is in reply to an article by a person named – vivek kumar… in the article titled ‘the lies they tell’, he had mentioned comment about me as a tennis player… which went like this -
Also on tennis, we have the following claim which is true aka Bikram Saluja (FIZA). Type in his name and it does pop up. However, when asked why he gave up, he says he found his true calling
In repsonse to Mr Saluja. Since it is being mentioned that I did not check my facts before writing.
Firstly I do reealize how difficult it is to play in the Juniors of the Grandslam and congratulate you on doing what 99% of tennis playing humans cannot. The point that I did not check my facts, is however, something I would like to put forth a counter comment.
My facts were based on the following websites:
http://movies.123india.com/classic/photos/archives/cla_bun_275.html
http://www.indiafm.com/features/2006/06/02/1260/
http://www.expressindia.com/fe/daily/20000826/fle20023.html
These contain statements about “playing professional in the juniors.”
Since you have played in them, you will realize that the rules of eligibility for the juniors at both the US Open and the Wimbledon, prohibit, professionals aka people who make money in the circuit, from playing the juniors, it makes them inelligible. How then would you be a professional and yet be playing the juniors? People turn pro after doing well in the juniors, is my understanding, not play pro in the juniors.
On the “being man enough,” no one is doubting that it is extremely difficult to make it in the ATP’s. The point I am making is to admit in the interview press that it was hard, and you are doing it here in your write up and it does not make one respect you any less, in fact au contraire. Also on the “true calling,” I believe I read it in Filmfare/Indiatimes, but that was in a hard copy, hence not on the web.
Summing up, of course you are a super tennis player, but there is an element of full disclosure that seems to be missing from all our celebrity interviews. Also I did not take what you said personally, my reaction is more on your indicating that I do not check my facts before posting, cause that I do and are indicated above.
