Wow this is big. The pose with the sword and shield is from Troy. And even the war costumes. Anil Sharma’s last film was Ab Tumhare hawale watan… the less said the better. But this one is big in canvas and promising. Even Ashutosh Gowariker had directed Baazi and then became big with Lagaan

What does not look good are the routine song and dance in England, Salman does not look convincing as a warrior.. in that he has not trained in sword fighting techniques. Tom cruise trained for months for the Last samurai… even for cocktails (to juggle bottles and glasses). Lets hope that the movie direction takes our attention away from these nit pickings!

I haven’t seen the trailer. I hope, they haven’t made basic mistakes regarding periodic costumes and other period-specific things. I hope, it’s a decent film and does well. PFC seems to have so many detractors already! Don’t know, why. Poor Vijay Galani should not run away from films forever!!

might still be enjoyable if we leave the proverbial brains at home but I find that very difficult…& once again love story is likely 2 overpower the real plot…somehow it is reminding me of another masterpiece Kisnaa- The warrior poet..

Can’t remember if Pathans were ancestors of Pindaris but they had connections with Marathas and remained active in first 50 years of 19th century. and Mostly they operated in the central India mostly in the area which now falls between MP and Maharashtra. Their taming is credited to Col. Sleeman so it was better if film was set in a period before 1850 so that removes the use of Train in the film.
Maybe they are showing some hero of Pindaris who remained there after 1857 also.

Agreed.Looked good initially but changed gears in the middle to look more like a periodic love story. But, as you pointed out in past in one of your comments that you were missing asli mard. It looks like that kind of movie. So, for that reason alone I want it to do decent.

Mangal Pandey, was more like a Sleaze flick, masquerading as History, and to think Ketan directed Sardar, Mirch Masala long ago.
The last good period drama i had seen in Bollywood was Legend of Bhagat Singh, it had everything in the right proportion.
Jodha Akbar was spectacular, but all that Saas-Bahu stuff was bit too much.

The movie seems to be made as period movie for the masses( Salman’s core fan following) inspired from the Manmohan Desai type movies like Mard and Dharam Veer.
On top of that Salman being the lazy actor he is, you can hardly expect to witness any crackling swashbukling sword fight in some of Hollywood production or even an honest periodic fight scene like that in Jodha Akbar. All you can expect out in this movie is bare chested Sallu snarling and mowing down some Anngrez.

Trailer is intriguing. It looks like a fantasy. So, expecting any authentic period things wouldn’t be right. It’s in Laggan’s genre but would be more unrealistic. The visuals shown in the trailer are too impressive. If the movie has a decent, logical story and good performances it will do well. Also, the right kind of promotion would play a big part in the success of the movie. I am eager to know more and see more about this movie. I don’t know how you people are so convinced that it would be bad. Let’s wait and see.
