Well known character actor Rajan P.Dev who started off in Malayalam Cinema and who did numerous films in Tamil,Telugu and Kannada also, passed away this early morning ( 29th July ). Rajan had been on treatment for liver disorder for quite some time. Though Rajan was very popular as a villain, he also went on to do many positive roles later on. Rajan even excelled in roles where he had to show his comic touch. Some of his memorable movies include Spadikam, Gentleman, Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava, Kushi, Okkadu, Thommanum Makkalum, Bharatchandran I.P.S, Chocolate etc. In spite of his ill health he still remained active at work and his last releases were Malayan in Tamil and Ee Pattanathil Bootham in Malayalam. A great loss indeed to Indian Cinema- may his soul rest in peace.

A great loss, indeed.!
Though I have actively not followed his work, i do remember seeing him playing supporting roles in most Malayalam films I have seen. There are times when he was hilarious. He will be missed in Mal film world
May His Soul Rest in peace.
I think he has directed two films also.
@ Cinemausher- yes he did direct 2 movies-
Achante Kochumolku and Achammakuttiyude Achayan. But I dont think the movies made any impact. He was a reknowned theatre artist also.
Telugu cine lovers will miss one of there villains.
may his soul rest in peace.
He was fantastic playing negative roles. Especially with that Rayalseema accent and a body language on par with the best. It is a big loss. RIP!
I will never be able to forget the act he put on in ‘Love Today’ as the ever suspicious police inspector- dad. RIP :-(
OM,Cinemausher- yes he certainly will be a big loss for both Telugu and Tamil cinema as well where he will be mainly missed as a villain.
Jai- yes Rajan’s performance in Love Today was a class act.It was that role which elevated the movie to a large extent.
gudumba satthi in KUSHI, is what I still remember of him. he had some very memorable roles and moments in telugu movies.

Really, there is one thing which touched me.
Two days before his death, I bought Kaattu kuthira film VCD..
Thilakan did a fantastic job in it..
We were discussing abt it, whether Dev woould hav been better in the movie, as he had acted in the original theatre version..
I was of the opinion that thilakan cudnt be surpassed..
Just after our discussion over tea..we knew of his death..
May his soul rest in peace..
And let me mention..Carlos from Indrajalam..fantastic villian
Remember him as an amazing villain/comedy actor. sad.
