Vince and the Magnetic Hottie

I got an interesting email from a non-filmy chinese friend. I say “non-filmy” as in he is not associated with the film industry, has no desire to be a writer or actor or what not. He just thought of an interesting story and passed it on to me to develop on. I’ve re-written it below.

It’s different than the type of stuff that I usually like to write. But its interesting, so I figured I would take advantage of all the creative minds and talent here at PFC and workshop the idea with all of you.

Lets all try to have fun with this idea, everyone pitch in your thoughts, let me know what you find mundane or predictable, what you think we should add to spice it up and twists we could throw in to throw our audiences off a little.

“Vince and the Magnetic Hottie” (Short film/comedy)

Vince and his wife Maggie have been together since high school, now married for just over 6 years. They are the quintesstial average couple. Maybe a little on the boring side, but they’re fine with that. In high school they were called nerdy, geeky, brainy. The two took those compliments in stride, not letting it get to their heads. Afterall, they weren’t out there trying to be fashion divas or bodybuilders.

They were just a couple who loved to share their thoughts on books, solve crosswords and math problems with equal enthusiasm, guess the answers (sorry, questions) for the quiz show Jeopardy together, and indulge in their weekly weird night at the movies.

They may be awkward and average to the world, but they were the world to each other.

Vince, a computer programmer by profession, would share with Maggie all the issues and frustrations of his day and she would always find a way to rationalize to him that it was all going to be okay. He took great pride in the comfort of knowing he could always go to her for all his whinings, big or small. For her part she was happy knowing that he told her everything about himself on a daily basis. They had their balance.

And then came Stacy, the new office hottie. But she wasn’t just hot. She was H-O-T! And he was drawn to her. She was so magnetically hot that the first time Vince “encoutered” her (he accidentally brushed by her ass just as she was bent over pouring herself a cup from the water cooler) he completely lost his mind for the rest of the day!

From then on every time he’d see her, his mouth would come open and the saliva would stream out. His eyes would slowly start to grow bigger, moving out of their sockets and towards her. He would be rendered utterly speechless. Oh, and he’d get totally sprung.

This one time he was in a heated debate with a colleague over why no game could ever engage a player the way the Sims could, and Stacy walked by. Vince started to blurt out jibberish in fast forward. In his feeble attempt to avoid further embarrasment he turned around, still rat-tat-tatting away, and banged the copymachine nearly breaking his wookie in half.

Lately the drive home was an even more complicated experience, Vince confused over whether he was glad to be out of the office or sad to be away from the site and litterly drove him bananas.

Coming home to Maggie was no picnic either. She knew something wasn’t right. How could she not, he’d turn into a panicky idiot everytime she’d routinely ask about his day. The fact that he was hiding something bothered her no end.

One day Maggie decides to be persistant and find out what turned this lovable geek into a jittery fool. After trying to escape into the shower — with his clothes still on — he was forced into a confession.

At first he was nervous telling his wife about how this other woman would do to him, mentally and physically. When she asked, point blank, if he was “horny for her” he couldn’t lie. He didn’t just want to screw her, he *needed* to screw her. It was an unsurpressable biological primitive urge over which he had no control. But he wasn’t in love with her. He knew he could never love anyone but Maggie, his wife, lover and above all the best friend he could tell anything to.

He told her he felt better telling her, and the talk may have helped him get over this bizarre infatuation. But it really didn’t. The next day he was less jittery but more horny than he ever had been. What the hell was he to do?

He told Maggie that he was thinking of quitting his job. But that was no option either.

Maggie consulted a friend who came up with a shocking solution - let Vince go for it. Let him be free to go after the hottie and try to seduce her. It wasn’t like he actually had a shot, what with his dorky appearance and uneasy self-conscious demeaner. First off, he wouldn’t have the balls to approach her. The very thought of it would discourage him to the point where he’d give up on this fantasy. Or, if by some miraculous force he grew the grapefruits to talk to this girl, she’d let him know how far out of his league he is. And then it will all be over and Maggie would have her husband back to normal.

It made sense. If this girl was even 1/2 has hot as Vince made her out to be there was nothing to worry about. Vince would not only get the fantasy out of his system, he’d learn a lifelong lesson that the only woman for him is Maggie.

So she encouraged him on the pretense that if he didn’t do it he’d go crazy. In fact, to make matters that much more urgent, she was going to withold all physical contact with him until he completed the mission. Vince was completely blown away, this was as unexpected as anything he could have imagined.

What Maggie and her friend didn’t factor in was Vince too had a friend. A friend who was so astounded by this very decent proposal that he was willing to go out of his way to help Vince succeed in screwing the Magnetic Hottie…
