He sure defies the laws of physics. Must be a fun movie. A non-pretentious Ghajini.
A merger of comic book style action and indian masala . .must be a fun watch from the trailer
supercool. masala is back.
Now THATS OUR MAN… he should ve been doing this for quite sometime now, instead of those sissy comedies (which were not bad for him either… but it looked like he had lost interest in things anyways, giving way to Akshay Kumar) … these are the movies that suit him … minimum dialogues, or just for the sake kinda dialogues.. not much of emoting… punch kick laugh sing punch again ishhhtyle…. hope he doesnt talk much with that accent though.. it spoils the fun a bit of a rough class action masala movie..
Doesn’t have the edginess and roughness of Pokiri…pokiri was solid masala at its best!!!
@OM,
I guess it depends upon what you ve seen first, how you ve followed the movies before this one… When I saw pokiri in telugu (i can’t understand a lot of telugu, but the songs and my friends just pushed me in..) I was like WHOA!!!! I ended up watching Maa TV to see Mahesh babu movies.. and then Trisha movies.. and it goes on… Tamil version was okay, cuz then again, it depended upon how much I followed it (gilli again pushed me to watch some more of vijay movies) but now I know why it succeeded so much esp in telugu, and the raw attraction that a “superstar” (not too high an actor, but the screen presence carried is magnanimous… in an acting role and not a walking through the movie role) and somebody even with no intentions of doing it, I have followed… it is kickass to see salman khan doing a hardcore, coming out of his chair role.. and it suits him big time.. I just hope prabhu deva didnt get carried away by Salman’s presence and made it at the same pace and quickness and chirpiness as the Mahesh Babu one….
Single screen cinema is back. THis just maybe the first single screen hit of the year.
.
Pokiri was kick ass man!!! I saw Pokiri with english subs, and thought the punch lines were pretty good. I hope they get the punchlines right here. Coz if they manage to get in the right amount of badass action and dialogues, they have a goldmine. Masses love Sallu. I remember how Tere naam took a flying start despite the insipid promotion. Everyone was caught off guard. Then take the example of Garv, public were clapping and whistling on all the Arjun Ranawat’s lines. “Bol yeda, tu goli kiske saath khayega, paani ke saath, saoda ke saath, ya fir DIRECT” ha ha ha. GEM
This one is certain to take a good opening & should do reasonably well @ the single screens.But yes I agree with OM that its tough to match Pokiri.But for those who haven’t watched Pokiri let me tell you that this is pure unadulterated masala stuff
Pokiri was the kind of stuff that would be a treat for any masala film lover. Even if they just plainly copy the scenes, i guess it would make for any interesting watch.
Pokiri was total bad ass, nasty gangsters, bitchy molls, lots of gore, even a scene of BDSM( bit toned down though). Not sure if Prabhu Deva is the right choice, some one like Sanjay Gupta wud have been the best choice for it.
Well Ratnakar Prabhu Deva did a reasonably decent job of copying it in Tamil & thats why he’s doing it in Hindi too.Hope they maintain they success ratio of Telugu & Tamil.
Yaar Sethu, i have seen the Tam version too on flight. It was fine, but somehow liked the Telugu version more. For me the comedy track was much better in the Telugu version than in the Tam version. And i guess what tilted the scales was a certain Ms.Ileana D Cruz. BTW Poori Jagannath, does know how to depict the heroines in a real stunning manner. I flipped out for Rakshita in Idiot, but after that she just got bloated up in other movies.
yes I prefer the Telugu version myself.Ileana was awesome, songs were also better.and the comedy was riproaring,Brahmanandam & Ali’s comedy track was hilarious.Poori Jagannath knows his stuff.Yes Rakshita did get bloated up soon, she’s now married & stopped acting.
@ Ratnakar, I think its good that its Prabhu Deva and not Sanjay Gupta.. more often than not, Sanjay Gupta focuses more on the stylishness and sleekness of the action scenes, and not the raw hardcore masala action… he visits more into the cameraworks and a punch lasting for 5 seconds with a pause et al, which visually captures you, but doesn’t keep you involved it in… Guess he is YRF of actions thriler genre making sure that over dose of the action scene happens… hopefully Prabhudeva will get the actions sequences exactly the same way as in southern flick, which was fast cut to cut and keeps you excited… like clicking your fingers… just hope PD doesn’t get overblown out into salman khan’s the man, and keeps him takatak involved in the action….
After a long time I have seen such an engrossing trailer. I have watched it three times and plan to watch it a few more times. The trailer is awesome, the film looks to be a full on masala flick with oodles of style. I confess that this is the first time, I feel like watching a Salman Khan film.
@Sethu,
The soundtrack is below average, which will hamper it’s opening.The only hope this film have is they release it with more than 1500 plus print, if it does not take opening then the movie will not have any
chance.
I guess the violence in the movie will keep away the female audiences, Salman has a lot of fan following among teenage girls.
@ cinemausher- I haven’t heard the soundtrack yet but its sad if what you say is true.the songs were a big plus in telugu & tamil versions.Opening to zaroor milega, but sustaining it will be the key.
I’m not worried about the violence- when Vijay and Mahesh Babu fans lap it up Sallu fans can also do the same.When a movie like Garv was able to pull it off with the violence, Wanted shouldnt worry about the violence bit.
Well for that matter even Mahesh Babu does have a big fan following among the teen females in Andhra, and they did not have much issues with the violence.
@Ratnakar,
Yup you are right, but compared to Telugu movies,there are very less Action films in Hindi being made.
@ Cinemausher, i guess the hardcore masala action flick does not go down too well with multiplex audiences, and with present Hindi cinema catering mostly to that segment, movies like Wanted would not be as often.
@Ratnakar,
Bingo
Somehow “ek baar maine commitment dedi .. mai apnaa bahi nahi suntaa ” seems a bit pale in comparision to the original “okka saari commit aithe naa maata nene vinanu”
One big plus of Pokiri was the punch lines and the slang of mahesh babu (east godavari slang) which worked wonders.
May be they should not have translated word to word but have come up with some new punch lines in some different hindi slang.
I think this movie will work at single screens … but now a days you need the multiplexes too… let’s see how they go about building hype for the film… Salman has done really well by the looks of it…
It’s will be the next blockbuster of salman…
promo is mind blowing…I really Appreciate salman’s work in wanted…must watch film…
Sound track is disappointing but still hoping to watch a nice masala film. One thing that is going to happen is bumper opening… Salman always look good in such kind of action flicks, remember opening scene of Karan-Arjun… now it may not found good but at that time i keep on waiting for the trailor of Karan-Arjun and does anybody remember Veergati, film was good but Salman looked quite good in action avtaar…
Trailor rocks man…. Would love to watch such movies… I loved the tamil pokiri.. hope the Hindi one lives up to the expectation.. The promo is awesome and gives lots of promise!!! love it!!!
By opening scene of Karan-Arjun, i mean the scene where he fought in the ring for the first time… and that dialouge “baaya haath jeb mein rakh lo saab warna zindagi bhar aapko daayne haath se hi kaam chalana padega” and public was clapping…
This will be fun. Were Acid Factory and Wanted trailers done in the same post house or something? Similar styles.
I saw Telugu Pokiri last year….the Parkour stunts were copied from Luc Besson’s Banlieu 13…& one scene from despreado….but anyway it was an ultimate mindless entertainer…& Mahesh Babu was really good…the shots here look very similar to that one…it would be interesting to see if they’ve made any changes in the climax or not…
Anyway being one of the original gym freaks, Salman should have done such films when he was younger…
I wish I could die. But well the poster was more than enough for me.
Sahi! After a long time a Hindi action film that looks set to deliver exactly what it promises – masala action. Hope there’s no melodramatic track involving a widowed mother
you are in for a huge surprise.. come for the movie with your brains on, unlike KI and other akshay movies, and you will realise how you would automatically resist satisfying it while watching the movie… this one is a kick ass boti wala meat… (it looks like a scene to scene lift, just that salman looks a lil older and lot less flexible compared to Mahesh Babu … still the flambouyance is enuf)
Why couldn’t they just have launched Prince in Bollywood
They made a terrible remake of Athadu and I have a feeling they’re gonna do the same with Pokkiri. Anyway, I hope they have at least saved the track of Software Engineer Brahmi
. And if possible, could they just translate the words and insert Jagadameeee in there. Pokiri isnt the same without the Jagadameee, samaramee etc in the background.
If they go through with not much changes from the earlier versions, expect full on clap-worthy scenes, best enjoyable when seen with masala film fans, and an unexpected twist.
Whoever is playing the villain?(role of prakash raj in tamil version)
Can’t wait to see Salman dance under Prabhudeva; hope there is at least one good song for him
Prakash Raj – Mahesh Manjrekar… supposedly they made “some changes” which in itself spoils some fun for me… one issue I got is, the originals had the hero look like a “POKIRI” as the name suggests.. a road side ruffian who does thigns for fun … trailers at glimpses suggest salman is gonna be a lot more decorated and upmarket guy than the character of Mahesh babu .. now that in itself might spoil some fun …
PS,Jibin- Prakash Raj does the same role in Hindi too ( like Telugu and Tamil ).Mahesh Manjrekar is doing the bad cop’s role ( Ashish Vidyarthi ) so that is fine.But yes Mahesh Babu was more of a pokiri in the movie than Salman can ever be.still lets wait & see.
I Ashish Vid’s role i guess is being done by sayaji shinde.. m not too sure though.. MM is doing prakash raj is what I heard..
PS-To the best of my knowledge Sayaji Shinde is no where in the movie.MM plays Inspector Talpade ( Ashish Vidyarthi’s role ) and Prakash Raj plays Gani Bhai i.e the same role for the 3rd time.
do not worry….salman’s look as a rufian has been taken care of…
