When the F&%& is this going to stop…..
When is this going to stop ….Now some members of Rajput community have some kind of problem with Jodha-akbar….so what do they do come up on street burn the posters of HR and threaten to boycott Jodha Akbar .…..When on earth these morons are going to grow up…. …..same days back some people had problems with lyrics of Aaja Nachle …..The airforce had issues with RDB … …Gujarat has problems with Aamir’s films …Shiv sena and RSS has problems with every other film……Why do we have a censor board then ?? ..let us show every movie to these nut headed politicians and their people and let them decide what the rest of the people want to see …infact every director or producer should take their script to these people and get it approved before starting the shooting …. ?
The most ridiculous case filed by a lawyer was the kissing between Hrithik and Aishwarya …..And why do our courts entertain such cases..they should be dismissed right away …and why do media hype these controversies…Aren’t there any problems left in India to be shown and discussed and read in media apart from these so called issues ….
Does this mean we are never going to see a documentary like Fahrenheit 9/11 or any movie making mockery of the army or any black comedy on any of the political issues?? Why we Indian’s are so intolerant …..Why doesn’t the government come forward and make some provisions that no matter what these people think if the movie is passed by censor then it should be through.
Lets come to the second issue about us….are we not mature to watch some realistic and good cinema…and do we live in a dream world where everything is picture perfect from mansions(in some cases even castles are passed as home) to good looks to imported cars ….and is our sense of humor so restrained and slapstick and childish ..
If not how can you justify the BO collection of most of the bollywood movies … ….Whenever we have some seriously hatke film it bombs or at times just recovers the money ……The Hindi film scenario is not going to change unless the people change and become more cinematic mature ……And I am not talking about the front benchers but the overall people…..The other day me and my colleague where talking about TZP (This was before the release of the film ..) .So I told him that I am very much looking out for this film ..and it should be a gem of a film which it eventually turned out to be …now listen to what my friend here says ..he says the film’s promo is not appealing and the film will be bad but it will be a blockbuster…Guess the reason he told me for the film to be a blockbuster ….he told me the film will be a blockbuster since Aamir has changed his hairstyle ..I couldn’t argue with this guy nor i intended to waste my valuable energy to explain him that cinema is way beyond this ……Now this guy is a engineer graduate ….so now think about the thought process that goes through a normal man while deciding which movie to watch ……
Another case …I had this privilege of watching a bang-your-head-again-and-again film called Dhol with two of my colleague…..one of them being mentioned earlier ……they laughed their intestine out throughout the movie…..Literally rolling on sofa ….giving tallis…i was like wtf and at that moment i seriously thought that I had some serious problems….but later after reading about the film on pfc ..i was relieved that there are other people who think the way I think……But you can’t argue with these people because they genuinely like these films ..they have grown up watching such stuff and they can’t think anything else ……It is at least fine till here but then these people come out and argue that why can’t we make Hollywood kind of movies …not that we really want Hollywood kinda movies but still how can we make ????? when we the people watch such senseless crap and make it a huge hit ?? We as the audience need to change eventually to change the picture of our picture …
At least what we the PFCites can do that whenever there is good MFSU or hazaron we should urge our friends to watch these movies may be we should take them with us ,whenevr we go out for such movies ….slowly but gradually we should try and change the likes of our audience ..i know we are such a small number of people here some more people on some other forums …But this should start somewhere …..

Yup, sites like PFC can change people’s thoughts towards movie.. fundu thoughts..
You haven’t talked about biggest culprits.. Critics like taran at indiafm.. Just look at Khoya Khoya Chand reviews everywhere.. everyone trashing it.. its one of the best movies came out last year.. for me, it was second best compare to Black Friday.. Its this critics whom general public follows.. instead of teaching them one or two cents of acting, story, screenplay, script they talk about star power and boxoffice collection.. Just look at Taran’s blue umbrella review.. he gave it three star and then says critics ratings.. what the hell that means? why two ratings for masses and classes? what’s diff between masses and classes? aren’t we same?
I wanted to say hell with it but we can’t.. Once movie fails its hard to find another producers for people like Mishra or Kashyap.. Things are changing but too slow.. PFC is helping it to speed up..
Great thoughts..
Nik
NIK,
i agree about some of the critcs…taran adarsh is not a critic he is a box office “pundit”…i don’t know why indiafm projects him as a critic…and mr adarsh also gives away most of the story in his reviews…infact in some of his reviews he gives aways the suspense element…..
and yes once the movie fails..it should be very difficult find another producer…
you see
the people who are a little bit more intelligent than you. are worrying themselves to death over same problem.
they are worried that when people will grow up. and be able to ignore petty issues like you mentioned. for they have more meatier issues.
its not only that. the man behind kissing petition has the same worry. he too is pissed because people just doesn’t seem to care about important issues according to him.
this is a universal problem. everybody is looking down. and constantly worried about the stupidity prevalent.
for a change
look up :-?:o
buddy u should have the magnanimity to respect ppl’s choice of films (in this case ur frnd) .. i cant imagine myself watching dhol/kya kool hain hum - brand of humour .. but to expect everyone to be cinematically mature like u is like p chidambaram expecting every indian to know the intricacies of economics ! have respect for the likes and dislikes of common film-goer and dont mock them on forums.
if average film-goer doesnt want to watch No Smoking then so be it. majrity of ppl in our country are not so well off. of the ppl who are well off, very few like wtching serious films . and of those few ppl who like serious films, still fewer wudve understood it (if there was something to be understood is debatable .. i on my part havent seen it yet). so why expect the rest of them to invest 150rs on ticket and come out of the theatre scratching their chins.
very few filmmakers have it in them to consistantly make sensible films which can also do well commercially.
updesh khatam
regarding the controversies around films, we are not intolerant .. its just that we want to create a ruckus to get noticed and feel important .. its a general malaise in our country :/
ps- even i feel amir’s weird hairstyle in tzp was a bit of a ‘im-reinventing-myself-in-each-role’ gimmick
filmibhai..thanks for the updesh…but i never intended to oppose someone’s choice…..i just wanted to make a point that the cinema of our country will improve only when audiences will watch the kind of movies i mention…..and how can u decide to watch a movie or not on the basis of actors hair style…my do u bring no smoking out of no where….i never mentioned about NS…there are other movies as well which are less complicated and very commercial and yet with content…I guess it’s a habit on pfc to drag NS in middle of everywhere…….how many quality movies do we produce every year ??………if we need to improve the rate of good movies per year we need good movies to be hit..for the producer to recover his cost and for the producer to invest in other good ideas…
vishrant…
i am not talking about intelligence here…and neither do i claim to be intelligent then others….i am worried about the state of our films..as an audience i want to see better work….unless and untill people see good movies…we can’t get to see more good movies…

It’s very presumptous of you to denounce the masses and you take it upon yourself and PFC to recalibrate people’s taste or make them cinema worthy. May be people don’t take films very seriously like you do, what if they like DHOL, WELCOME etc. It’s the same everywhere look at the biggest blockbusters across the globe you won’t find any serious/realistic films there, even shawshank failed at the box office. Point being, don’t get miffed and hurl names at the audience just because they don’t like to watch films which u consider to be good.
If DHOL makes 50 crores, nobody should say it didn’t deserve because obviously it did.
Billy Wilder said-”An audience is never wrong. An individual member of it may be an imbecile, but a thousand imbeciles together in the dark - that is critical genius”
amit - with due respect .. its not a question of ’serious realistic’ films …. even a khosla ka ghosla, bheja fry is as intresting and perhaps more than the ones you mentioned …
and agree with your second point .. yes if the audience wants a dhol or a welcome …. then cant help it ….. she’s the best judge
i dont knw why u people in this forum herald such craps like khoya khoya chand and no smoling (i liked previous films of both the directors)
do u people feel loyality for them since they r here?
sk ..first of all where did i mention abot KKC or NS ..and second of all if any one does like it..its his or her’s personal choice …
Mr Sk,
People here are not loyal to a particular filmmaker but to the movies they like. I loved No Smoking and Khoya Khoya Chand on their merits and not because they were made by Mr Kashyap or Mr Sudhir Mishra.
I even loved Ek Chalis ki Last local without any loyalty towards the particular film maker.
If you find a movie crap it is you personal view and I have no problem in accepting the same. I would appreciate if you would also respect interests of others in the forum.
people don’t have the time and patience to watch a movie that makes them think or even concentrate..
At least in India films are entertainment..
and thats not good, but thats the way it is..
a just hope we get a few original scripts, however bad they are..:)
zzzz ..
we obviously must be having many no of original scripts..and that too good …but i guess the producers are afraid to invest in them ,..
i respect every personal opinion but in this forum i dont know why they are all tilted towards those two directors
i openly criticize those two films because if i or we dont they will continue to make such films to satisfy their arrogance
i luv both the directors and are capable of making gr8 fims and kkc and ns arnt those
