Which JP Will It Be This Time?

Hi Folks,
Have been invited to the press screening of Umrao Jaan tonite. Will have the review tomorrow. Which JP Dutta will surface this time? The maverick brilliance of Ghulami and Border or the “fell flat on it’s face” LOC and Refugee.
Ash can only act is she has a strong director and someone who is not in awe of her, will JP be able to extrace a performance from someone, who is not ”inbuilt” as an actor?
Plus will Abhishek, who has my title of the most overrated actor on this planet, be able to deliver? Let us see.
Finally will the quality of the songs and music measure up? And the grandeur of the sets?
Wait and watch for a review on PassionForCinema at 1:00 am pst tonite
Sincerely,
Vivek “neither a fan of Ash nor Rekha, give me Sush and Lara any day” Kumar

Hmmm,my char-anna on the movie from the promos. The fact that he went for Anu Malik for a music director as opposed to Ismail Durbar or someone from the classical school for a musical makes me feel that J.P was looking more towards his comfort zone rather than artistic challenges. Missed the twinkle in Ash’s non-conveying eyes as opposed to Rekha’s ever-expressive jheel-si-gaherahi ankhon. Completely agree with Abhisek being an over-rated actor. The guy is yet to proove himself but the MSM already put him on the high pedestal. Overall my feeling is that it will be an eye-candy with lavish sets, gorgeous costumes. But once you close your eyes, you’ll hardly remember the movie. Will be happier if proven otherwise.
