The IIFW ( Indian Independent Filmmakers Worldwide, www.iifw.in ), courtesy Mr. Ketan Mehta, is organizing a Workshop on the Meisner Technique by Vipin Sharma for Actors, Directors, Writers, Producers, …just about anybody working or interested in cinema, on the 15th of March, 2009 in Mumbai.
This is probably the first time that a Meisner Technique Workshop is being held in the country by a qualified coach.
Throughout his career, Meisner worked with and taught students who would later became well known stars, such as James Caan, Steve McQueen, Robert Duvall, Gregory Peck, Bob Fosse, Diane Keaton, Peter Falk, Jon Voight, Jeff Goldblum, Grace Kelly, James Doohan, Manu Tupou, Tony Randall and Sydney Pollack.

Having worked with Sandy Meisner myself, before his demise about ten-some years ago, I have to say that his method is the best variation of the Stanislavski method. It’s none of that hocus pocus stuff that makes people make fun of THE Method, like trying to imagine yourself as a tree or as an ice-cream (a fabulous song in “A Chorus Line” comes to mind…). And for a group of actors, or directors or even screenwriters, who have never worked on it, it’s a godsend. It quite simply taps into natural instincts and gets rid of all the stuffiness that may have corrupted your craft… As you can see from my comment, a big fan! And today, I’m not an actor in any way, shape or form, but still use all those teachings daily.
sahi!!!
long time see you P(l)ayback
