Yun hota to kya hota? The buzz on remaking Andaz Apna Apna

I am not supposed to be doing this. My boss won’t be pleased. 7 deadlines staring at me in the face. But main to “filmi kaliyaan khila ke hi rahoonga” (Translation: I will bloom filmi flowers). This has got nothing to do with Naseer saab’s directorial venture. It’s just that I am trying to imagine something that might never happen. Or may be… who knows? While on a coffee break, my filmi colleague reminded me of the classic from Andaz Apna Apna “Do dost ek hi cup mein chaai piyenge… is se pyaar badhta hai”. We cracked up for a while. Then we both started off on our filmi thought trains.
I don’t know which island he is on now, but i struck gold. Or so I think. The buzz about the movie Andaz Apna Apna remake is too strong, eversince Sallu & Aamir got together on Dus Ka Dum. Just imagine… Andaz Apna Apna being remade as Apna Apna Andaaz. Starring Aamir, Imran & Salman. Produced by SRK’s Red Chillies. Okay I am pushing it too far. I mean whoever producing it, who cares. Heroines? May be Kareena & Katrina. Casting coup did you say? Dil behlaane ke liye Ghalib ye khayal achcha hai!
Some more on the wish list: Music? Who else but Vishal Bharadwaj. Dialogues? Anurag Kashyap. Lyrics? Munna Dhiman. Crime Master Gogo? Vijay Maurya. Presh Rawal repeats what he delivered last time. Irreplacable. Awwww gawd. Somebody stop me!!! Anyways… moving on with Apna Apna Andaaz. They say you shouldn’t mess with a classic, but hey we are in the ‘yun hota to…’ mode, so allow me the liberty.
Sallu & Aamir are trying to patao a rich girl using yahoo chat sitting in a cyber cafe. The girl is flirting with them both. Both unaware of whats happening. They are sitting in adjascent cubicles. Chatting away to glory. Dream sequence. Cut to song.
(For now we cud use a song that I have written)
Mohabbat ki masumiyat se darne lage hain
Chahat ki raah par phir bhi badhne lage hain
Dard se yaari to kar he baithe the lekin
Ek haseen khwaab aur dekhne lage hain…
WAAH WAAAH. OK it sucks. Its just a dummy song yaar!
Back to the Cyber Cafe. The chat session is over. First Aamir leaves. Then Sallu leaves (of course with stars in their eyes). HAHAHA. Now Imraan who is also at the same cyber cafe emerges from one of the cubicles with the same glint of mischiveousness in his eyes. Sallu & Aamir go home to inform their folks that ther are leaving home to marry that unknown someone they have met online. Leading to the same results like in the classic.
Now Sallu meets Aamir at the bus stand. They exchange plesantaries and are mutually pissed to find out (the lies) that they are going to be competing each other for the next India Idol title. But the fact is that the are going to the City to win over the girl of their cyber dreams. Here is where they are joined by Imraan. Ding Ding Ding even Imran lies that he has come for Indian Idol. Cut to the bus wala song… slighly modified dummy song. (dont draw your swords)
Apni zindagi ka hai rangeen scene
Ishq mein doobe hum bunde teen
Happy go lucky with a humor clean
Cross to kar diye apne teens
Still in love with old Levis jeans (in-film placement ka chance)
Yikes. Sorry for that. Let’s wait for Munna Dhiman.
Well I can go on & on if someone pays me to do so. But I would like to request PFC that just like we have Project iView, could we also have something like Project iDream. It could be a section where fellow cinephiles can spell out their favourite movies with their dream star cast or such other dreamy wish lists. Can’t comment about others, but more than iView, iDream.

andaz apna apna – andaz aamir salman ka ready to see once again glimse of the humurous jodi .they are unputdownable when work together.it is not good that they have worked only once .
Maamu! Concept is good but tell me frankly…with your original sense of humour are you really bound by the classics to make a remake!! I say break the mould of the old. Go bold. Make an original. No Don 3, No Bond 23rd. Just fresh comedy brewed in the best of creative brains – Keyrun’s!! I mean “Yun ho to kya bura ho?”
well it sounds good, two vetrans one young kid on the block coupled with either of the two latest bombs (katrina or kareena)from the bollywood industry , very well written and good imagination dude!….should be a super – duper blockbuster……
